Things I am Thankful for
It takes a tragedy for an average person to wake up every day and recognize how much
they have. We hardly take time to appreciate our lives and reevaluate just how things work in our
favour (Morin). However, when tragedy strikes, we tend to be too fast to complain not knowing
that we overlook all the good things in our lives. Being thankful is a cultivated trait that should
be nurtured in our everyday practices (James). Despite my daily worries, I am so thankful for my
health, life opportunities and relationships both family and friends.
The relationships that I have with both friends and family give me a reason to smile
constantly. I am glad that I have always had a shoulder to lean on when troubled. I am grateful
that my family and friends never show me their backs whenever I need the most. I have always
had friends to who I can tell things that I cannot tell family members. I feel that my friends are
not just like siblings to me but also the other part of self. My family and friends and my
emotional therapists and always try their best to make sure that endure all my troubles with a
smiling face.
I am thankful that I have so many life opportunities like education and can access all the
basic needs; food, shelter and clothing. Attending school has helped me learn a lot and explore
different experiences. Schooling has helped me learn that there are people who have little to

nothing hence the need to be thankful. I never go to bed hungry but can at least relate to how it
feels like lacking the basic need for days. The opportunities that I have today give me the
assurance of a great future. Although I am not assured that I will get a good job, I am certain that
the knowledge I will have gained by the end of my studies will help me get an employment to
sustain my future.
I feel so fortunate that I am healthy. I am so thankful that I can walk, hear and have no
physical disability. Every morning that I wake up to realise that I am not chronically ill gives me
a reason to give thanks. I do not take waking up on every single day well for granted. Being alive
and healthy is the greatest opportunity for me. It gives me the strength and power to explore
other available life opportunities. Body wellness is my greatest joy in life since it gives me the
ability to operate normally. Even on the days when I am not physically or emotionally well, I am
always thankful because I hardly suffer severe conditions.
Conclusion
Conclusively, I would never want to have a gloomy day because things did not work to
my expectations. I would want to stay happy always knowing that amidst all my happy moments,
no disappointment should make me complain. I believe that there are a lot of things to rejoice
even when one does not have a good job. One should first count their blessings before allowing
themselves to be overpowered by emotional distress.
