Introduction
In the present reflective diary, I have used the Gibbs theory of reflective cycle, as using this
theory, a reflection can be presented effectively by including all the description, feelings,
evaluation, conclusion and action. The present study includes 3 reflective diaries. In the first
reflective diary, I have explained the importance of effective communication, second reflective
diary shows the importance of role play in the group formation. Whereas, the thrid reflective diary
shows the importance of role play in the individual development. This reflective diary shows a brief
discussion about importance of effective communication in the health and social care service
industry. The present reflection also provides information about the process to be followed while
performing role play activity along with challenges and obstacles to be faced by the groups and
ways to overcome them. The diary also provides a description about the description about what I
have learned through the role play assessment.

Reflective Log: Number 1 Communicating effectively
Description
Communication can be defined as a process of exchanging the ideas and information for the
purpose of gaining mutual understanding over a specific point (Meadows, Sweeney and Mehers,
2016). In other words, it can also be said that communication is a process in which the ideas,
thoughts and signals are being exchanged in such a way so that they could be easily understood by
the receiver.
Further, I think with the help of an effective communication, the service provider can reduce
the level of complaints. Effective communication can be achieved via facial expressions. As per my
practice, there are majorly 7 principles of an effective communication which are also termed as 7c's
of communication, namely, clarity. Correctness, conciseness, completeness, concreteness,
coherence and courtesy. In think, Inclusion of all these c's in the communication, makes the
communication more effective.
As per my study, there are majorly 8 components of the communication i.e. source, sender,
channel, receiver, destination and message. The whole communication network can be effectively
completed if all these components have been completed perfectly by both sender and receiver of the
communicated information.
Feelings
From the above description about an effective communication, I have felt that an effective
communication is the basic need of a health and social care service department.
As per my point of view, a nurse need to develop effective communication network
with her patients in order to create therapeutic relationship between them (Oetzel, 2017). It could
help the nurse in determining all the needs of the patients and treating them accordingly.
I think, there are numerous barriers that effects the effectiveness of the communication
network. Excessive of noise pollution, chosen of ineffective network of the communication, failure
of listing the voice of sender properly, environmental distraction, etc. are some major barriers of an
effective communication.
Evaluation/Analysis
By analyzing the above study, I have evaluated that one need to communicate effectively in
order to present his feelings and ideas to another person. In case of health and social care practice,
way of communication directly effects quality of services provided by them (Thompson, 2018). In
my opinion, in a health ans social care service sector, the effective communication can help the
service providers in reducing the level of pain of the patient.
AS per the present case, a patient was to be discharged on a specific day before which the
health of the patients got change due to which she could be discharged. Although, this information
was not be given to the patient. It made the patient angry. It was because of lack of effective
communication within the center.
In my opinion, for the purpose of developing effective communication, the health and social
care network should carefully analyze various theories and models of the communication like miller
theory, Hoover's theory, etc. it can help them in systematically framing the structure of
communication within the premises.

What you would do next/action plan
In my opinion, in the health and social care practice, various communication theories and
models while applying any communication network within the practice. It can help them in framing
an effective communication so that all the information could be easily understood by them (Cai and
et.al., 2019). Further, communication theories and networks can also help them in organizing and
controlling the whole communication within the practice as well.
I think, the health and social care practice, there need to be inclusion of an effective
communication network. It is important to provide a sort of satisfaction to all patients and
effectively completion of all the activities of the practice as well.
Health and social care center can develop effective communication by enhancing the ability
of its members to be active listeners so that they can understand the whole information rather than
just listing it. Further, for the purpose of developing effective culture, the management of the center
can involve culture, dementia, sensory impaired etc. with the help of which the firm can develop
effective communication.

Reflective Log: Number 2 The role-play and group formation
Description
As per my study, the role play refers to performing the tasks in the group after completely
understanding the position, responsibilities and required skills for the completion of tasks. For
example, if I am playing a role of counselor, and I have no idea about responsibilities and the
expectations of others from this position, I would not be able to play this role in an effective way.
Further, I might be completely failed in playing such role.
Further, in my opinion, in playing any role in the group of the health and social care
practices is also not an easy task (Ogunyemi and et.al., 2016). For the purpose of playing any role in
a group, each group member need to know each other. For the purpose of making the group
member to know each other, the leader conducted a meeting of the members where they can hold an
introduction session.
Conducting such meeting was not an easy task. As, there were many hurdles in conducting
the meeting. Some team members were not agreed to attend the meeting, some were not agreed to
give their introduction in front of all the team members due to their shy nature, etc. but the leader
played his role effectively, and convinced due to his good leadership skills.
In the meeting, one more obstacle arisen that was asking some personal questions by team
members to other that made some members uncomfortable (Rowe, 2017). This obstacle was
eliminated by the leader by playing his role effectively. Making the best use of good leadership
skills and the power off his position, he stopped everyone to ask questions related to their personal
life.
Feelings
After studying the role play in the group of health and social care practice, I have felt that
the role play is nothing but performing the task assigned to you by making the best use of the power
you got due to the position and knowing the responsibilities of being in a specific position.
Further, I think for performing well in the group, it is important to coordinate with each
group member. For this purpose, a healthy communication need to be maintained among the group
members. In my opinion, for the purpose effective completion of task assigned to the team, the
leader needs to understand his role (Wang, Hou and Wu, 2017). If the leader could effectively
complete his role the whole group would be able to achieve the group goal easily. '
Evaluation/Analysis
From the analysis of above description, I have evaluated that for attaining the group goals of
the heath and social care practice like providing the best quality of services to each patient, etc., the
effectiveness in playing the role assigned to each group member is important. Further, the
coordination among the group members while playing the role assigned to them is also a major
element of the group performance.
In the present reflection, I have played a role of diabetic patient. As I didn't like the behavior
of doctors, nurses and other workers of the hospital, I refused to take medicine and have a blood
pressure checkup. Nurse came to influence me, but I still refused. Moreover, due to my low blood
pressure, I went blank, after which medical doctor was called and talked to me and made me eat,
drink and take medicines.

In my opinion, while playing the role in group, one need to carefully analyse the personal
values of the person having a specific position in the health and social care practice group, analysis
of the human behavior of all the patients, evaluate all the hurdles that can be faced by him while
playing the role, etc. (Xu and et.al., 2016)being a member of group and playing my role, I would
analyse all these elements and also develop the solution for each obstacle that can be faced by me
while performing my task. All these elements would help me in playing my role an effective
manner.
What you would do next/action plan
Further, as per my study, a group leader should perform his task effectively first for the
purpose of making others to play their roles perfectly (Kalkman and Clark, 2017). He need to train
the members by informing them all their responsibilities, values of the group, vision and mission of
group, group goals, etc. this could help them in developing effectiveness in working in each group
member.
Further, I think the leader also need to develop empathy in each member towards each other,
problem solving attitude for solving each kind of problem in an effective way. These actions of the
leaders while playing his part of role in the group could help them in making the each member able
to perform the act as per his responsibilities and role in the group.
In the present reflective diary, I have played a role of group leader. While playing this role, I
have make each member to understand their role in the group, along with their duties and
responsibilities toward the group. Further, I have also made some polices as to develop coordination
among the group members and develop effectiveness in the whole group's performance.

Reflective Log: Number 3 Evaluation and learning from the role-play
Description
While playing the role assigned to the member, a person can learn so many things. I think, if
the person plays his roles after analyzing his duties and responsibilities, he could be able to learn the
gain knowledge from various sources.
Further, if the person starts playing the role after analysing the required skills and
knowledge, the individual could be able to develop his own skills himself while playing the role in
being at some specific position.
Feelings
Being a leader of the group of health and social care practice, I have learned to have good
communication skills and I have learned the way in which each people receiving my information
and ideas could easily understand each information (Team Role Play, 2019). Further, I have also
learned the skill to handle each situation easily by analyzing the situations, finding the ways to
solve the problem and choosing the best way to resolve the problem.
I have developed the skill of making coordination among the team members, with the help
of this skill I have also learned the effective way resolve the interpersonal problems, making the
individuals convinced for performing any activity, etc. development of these skills has helped me in
playing professional roles and various roles in the society in an effective way.
In this regard, I have felt that the role play can help an individual in developing himself as a
good professional person along with being a good social animal as well.
Evaluation/Analysis
From the above description I have analysed that performing the tasks in the health and social
care practice group, while playing the role assigned can help the individual in developing himself as
an effective individual while playing the professional roles and numerous role in the society (Cai
and et.al., 2019). For example, while playing the role of leader, I have learned the skill of how to
resolving any negative situations.
Further, I have evaluated that while playing the role of group leader, I have developed a
quality of managing the human resources by analysing their behavior. I have learned the skill of
making the individuals of different religion, nature and behavior coordinating with each other and
developing empathy in each members towards them.
What you would do next/action plan
From the analysis of above description and the analysis, I have evaluated that the perfection
in playing each role by the individual is an important task (Team Role Play, 2019). It helps the
person in developing an individual as an effective professional and good social animal as well.
Further, for the purpose of gaining knowledge and developing various skills while playing a
specific role in the health and social care practice group, it is important to first completely analysing
the role, responsibilities to be taken fulfilled while playing the role of being at some specific
position, analysis of all the situations that could be arise at the time of playing the role etc.
I think, these analyses would lead in understanding various actions to be taken while playing
the roles and responsibilities of the position. With the help of this understanding an individual can
easily find the best way to perform various activities to be performed while playing the role. It
would directly lead in making the individual analysing various skills and knowledge that are

required while acting the role (Ogunyemi and et.al., 2016). In my opinion, this analysis is important
to develop numerous required skills in the individual along with gaining various situations.
Therefore, I think, all the above actions are needed to be taken if a person wants to develop
various skills and gain knowledge from while playing performing numerous acts while playing a
specific role.
