REFLECTIVE ESSAY
I have learned a lot about workplace culture after it was taught in the semesters. The
study of workplace culture has helped me to understand its importance in our lives.
We often tend to overlook our workplace environment and we forget that it directly
affects our health and well-being. It is significant for any organization to create a suitable
workplace culture for its employees. In order to get a broader perspective of the concept we were
asked to conduct SWOT analysis, understand professionalism, deal with difficult people and
clients, the impact of prejudice in the workplace, basic workplace ethics and various
contemporary issues. This semester also helped me in understanding the importance of effective
communicating in the workplace. Communication is a vital aspect as it helps the company to be
productive and to operate efficiently. In the second semester, I learned about the importance of
cultural susceptibility and how can one deal with difficult circumstances. This helped me gain
knowledge and broadened outlook. I also learned that having a balanced emotional intelligence is
very useful in the workplace culture. The subject also dealt with the various workplace diversity
challenges that are faced by many organizations. I discovered various elements, approaches and
methods to eliminate conflicts due to workplace diversity. Semester three helped me grasping the
concept that how good leadership qualities can help in the overall development of the
organization.
Leadership qualities like honesty, empathy, passion, creativity, decision-making
capabilities, humility and strong communicating skills can help in the growth of the company as
a whole. Thus, this unit has helped me learning and developing new skill sets. I am satisfied with
the information and knowledge I have gained in this unit.
