The respective paper is a reflective essay about the profession where I am enrolled in and
the communication media that had played a big role in shaping my profession till the present
situation. The paper focuses on the media that I have utilized to enhance my profession and
career and how it shaped me and my professional life.
The purpose of the essay is to bring out implications of audio-visual learning
amalgamating with written communication (such as books and pdf) in order to enhance the
professional skills of professorship of English literature and linguistics at university level. As a
postgraduate in English literature and a P.hd aspirant, I have been planning to build my career as
a professor in English literature and linguistics in a reputed university. To enhance my skills, I
have gone through a plethora o podcasts, books as well as self help books. However, the media
that helped me to understand literature better was the audio-book. The type of media that I have
chosen is audio-visual media for the purpose of my profession as a professor in English. As I
enrolled myself in P.hd program, I was given the responsibility to produce a paper on the
Epistolary theme of the novel Pride and Prejudice. In order to understand the theme, the first step
I took was to read the book. However, as I searched the popular video website YouTube, I found
out the audiobook of the novel Pride and Prejudice along with critical appreciation, analysis,
character analysis and thematic interpretation compiled in one channel. The respective
audiobook proved immensely helpful for me as I was able to hear the whole story despite of only
reading it as a book. It also has to be remembered that it is proved that audio and visuals have
always been the best medium of communication because audio visuals have the power in
reaching the listener and the audience. The audio visual aids are important tools for teaching
learning process (Al Mamun). It helps the teacher to present the lesson effectively and students
learn and retain the concepts better and for longer duration. With the help of visual presentation,

the students, readers and the audience are able to retain abstract concepts, thoughts and ideas
which enhance the cognitive senses and understandings of the mind (Brame). The audiobooks
are built in order to provide the students with a clear and concise description of the subject or the
chapter they have been studying about. Apart from that, throughout the entire channel that
consisted of a series of lectures of the critical analysis, character sketch, thematic representation,
revisit and review, thematic introspection and interpretation provided me with a plethora of
information, data and knowledge regarding the subject, the novel “Pride and Prejudice” that I
have taken as the topic for my research work for the P.hd program I have enrolled in. The most
remarkable characteristic of the audio-visual medium is that it has been designed by the eminent
professors, lecturers and the content creators who have developed themselves in the subject of
English literature and linguistics. Therefore, the way of presentation of the contents was
outstanding and intriguing. It had helped me immensely in understanding and completing my
coursework.
The respective paper concludes to be a reflective essay about the profession where I am
enrolled in and the communication media that had played a big role in shaping my profession till
the present situation. The paper focuses on the media that I have utilized to enhance my
