INTRODUCTION
Individual reflection is said to a habit of deliberately paying attention to own emotions,
behaviors, thoughts addition to decisions (Hofer, 2019). The individual reflective essay is
prepared on experience of working in a group at Nike which is multinational corporation that
engages in designing, developing, manufacturing, promoting and selling footwear, accessories,
apparel and hence forth.
The essay includes reflection on an experience to work in a group through Gibbs Reflective
Theory.
MAIN BODY
Reflective essay on experience of working in a group through Gibbs Reflective Theory
Working in a group enables an individual to examine perspectives of others and learning
new ways to carry out operations (Baker and Et. Al., 2019). To reflect on my experience in
group work, application of Gibbs reflective Theory encourages me for thinking in systematic
manner about experience I had in specific activity. There are six stages of the reflective cycle in
which my experience is reflected in structured manner below:
Description: For assessed group work, I worked in a group presentation work with 4
people in which we decided to divide sections among us so that each member only have to
research on one element. All of use expected to complete the piece of work together till set
deadline which was day before deadline which state that we did not get enough time for sitting as
well as rewriting it collectively. We have given ourselves huge duration prior deadline to
individually write sections and then share them to with each other’s.
Feelings: Prior we come together as well as realised that we have to complete lot of
workings, I was happy along with thought that we have taken a smart decision for division of
working among us. I was happier as I got chance to work in a group for completing management
report about Nike which is popular manufacturing organisation with approximately 73300
employees worldwide. With this project work, I have developed and improved my skill set at
personal and professional aspect. However, when we realised that we were not able to hand the
presentation like it was, I felt depressed. Looking back to my contribution in the project, I am
feeling satisfied for putting efforts collectively.

Evaluation: At this stage, things which worked and did not worked in an event are
evaluated (Williams, Woolliams and Spiro, 2020). In my group working, things which went
good was producing quality of work for decided deadline. It is evaluated that things worked well
because of our clear understanding about strategy and culture, leadership, culture,
communication and conflict at Nike. It has been evaluated that effective leadership style used by
leaders of Nike boost potential of workforce and help the company to operate in highly
competitive industry. All members motivated each other for working harder to complete the
project which contributed positively in work ethics of the group. In contrary, things which didn’t
went well is because of failure in overall time plan.
Analysis: According to me, initial division of work for the management report work went
due to engagement of each member and division of work as per their identified strengths. It is
analysed by me that theory of motivation plays significant role in group work. Also, motivational
theory helps businesses such as Nike to achieve goals. I have experienced working in group
earlier also and analysed that when I work individually I enjoy working within comfortable zone.
But, working in group improves communication and strengthen ideas.
Conclusion: From the group work, it is concluded that organisational behaviour is
systematic study about performance and activities performed within groups and individually. I
have gained understanding about Nike company and its culture, leadership as well as other
aspects. Moreover, it is learned by me that three principles of professional development at
continuous manner are work matters, professionalism matters and people matter. If I get chance
to handle a situation like this, I need to develop my time management and communication skills.
