SUMMARY
A portfolio is known as a compilation of materials that is used to exemplify an
individuals beliefs, qualifications, skills, education, experiences and training. It includes one's
statement of originality, work philosophy, resume, skill areas, career goals, etc. Along with it, it
provides a brief insight into one's work ethics and personality. Further, discussed are the chosen
documents by me in the portfolio and the reasons behind them.
The framework for academic writing is used by me in the portfolio to describe my
academic writing skills(Szegö, 2014). The framework allows one to understand the type of
writing I have done in my academics and the materials I have used. I have showcased my
presentation skills in the portfolio to make the viewer understand my knowledge about the
presentation skills that I acquire. The used lecture of my writing skills makes one able to
understand my writing skills and how in the time I have evolved in my writing skills with the
usage of tools such as reading, grammar and vocabulary. The Literature review used by me is to
explain my research skills and how effectively I am while doing research and explaining it to
someone easily. Along with these, I have showcased my ability of reading things properly which
makes it able for one to understand my efficiency in the reading and the types of reading I do to
make myself more about my industry topics. I have used appropriate citations and referencing to
make the viewer able to understand the places from where I have done my research and have
gathered the data to prepare the portfolio. Research designs were used by me explains the
different types of research and the types of research that I do. Along with it, they explain how
these researches are done in order to get the most out of anything given document, reading
material etc. The research skills are used by me to explain my researching abilities to prepare any
sort of document, article, etc. It will make one to understand the depth of my skill and the ability
of mine to ensure the best research. The study skills of mine makes one to understand the types
of study that I am into or the tools that I used to make my study better. Tools such as mnemonics
and information retaining are explained briefly. I used writing, notes and memory to make sure
my progress on portfolio. I also used critical thinking in order to analyse and solve problem
which were necessary to be solved in order to make my portfolio better. Also, the study skills to
understand the time that I provide for my study and how better I am in my performances etc.
Analysing the study skills also ensured my abilities to deal with the problems related to study

and how I can use them in my portfolio. All the above tools were used by me in the preparation

The framework for academic writing is used to explore one's writing done in the
academics. It alone provides a base for the types of writing done and what tools and techniques
are used in order to complete them. The framework provides a brief understanding of the
writing capabilities of an individual. It explores the types of researches done and how the
individual has evolved within his/her writing skills. The academic writing framework is
important as it is used in determining a person's writing abilities(Klingebiel and Rammer,
2014). The framework is used in interviews, assignments, etc. Along with this, the framework is
essential while preparing a resume in order to determine the writing done by an individual in his
academics.
Good Presentation Skills
Good presentation skills make one better and able to understand the importance of
presenting oneself in front of a number or group of people. Along with it, these skills help one
to developing public speaking, leadership, reputation, etc. Acquiring better presentation skills is
necessary for the one to gain personal confidence, find new business opportunities, impress
senior management of the company of institution one is a part of etc. These skills make sure
that a person is a good speaker and is able to present itself effectively in public situations.
Along with it, it makes one to stand apart from other people. Having good presentation skills is
important in new world to ensure growth and success and creating an impact in required
situations to showcase one's ability and experiences.

Writing skills explores one's ability to write well. The skill showcases an individuals
writing style or how he/she can effectively put his/her thoughts in written words. Having a good
set of writing skills allows one to easily write the learned information. Writing skills are
essential for the academics, business, or anything that requires the exchange of written
information. It can be seen that one who can write can also explain things well. A good set of
writing skills make one stand apart from a group of people. Also, good writing skills ensure
one's effective command on a language's grammar and vocabulary.
Literature Review
Literature Review is a developed argument of an information that is summarised and
synthesised. From the help of the review one can determine what has already been done and
what needs to be done. This allows one to understand the importance of the argument that has
been made in the past from the specialist of the field in which one is researching into. It
provides a brief understanding of the core concepts made by one to determine and identify the
problems occurred in past and what problems can occur in the future. Along with it, literature
review is an effective tool that is used during the preparation of portfolio to research and find
the required information and data.
Reading Skills
Reading skills refers to the ability of an individual to understand the written
information. It is important for one to have good reading skills in order to comprehend the
written information fast and easy. Along with it, effective reading skills allows one to do fast
research and gather information easily. It has been proved that a person with effective reading
skills has always showcased better performance and determination while working or studying in
an establishment or an institution. Reading skills are improved by reading regularly and reading
a variety of materials such as books, journals, newspapers etc. It has been seen to be an essential
factor for an individual to have good reading skills while preparing for an interview or any
activity.

Referencing and Citations
References are the materials which an individual has read to support a piece of work.
They help in making one's arguments more persuasive and much clear. References can include
informations such as graphs, facts, images etc. References always contain the relevant
information and are listed at the end of the work. References are gathered from a variety of
materials such as books, journals, magazines, newspaper articles etc. Along with it, they act as a
proof about individuals work being legit and appropriate. Citations appears in the main body of
one's done work, where another author's work has been referred or quoted. It is important for
one to include citations and references in their arguments as it shows one's research and hard
work as well provides their arguments with a good academic weight.
Research Designs
`The framework that is used for the collection and analysis of data is known as research
design. The research method is said to be a procedure that simply collects data. The method that
is chosen reflects the decisions in context of the types of techniques or instrument to be used.
The types of research design includes casual, descriptive, and exploratory(Hoesli and
MacGregor 2014). The types of research which are the investigation of cause-and-effect
relationships are known as casual researches. It is known to be as one of the most complex
research types. In exploratory research the researcher is not aware of the problem. It does not
provide any conclusive evidence. At last, descriptive research describes the characteristics of a
population or phenomenon and includes some understanding of the problem's nature.

abilities makes one able to do good research and easy to gather required data. It is important for
one to have good research skills in order to develop a good researching performance. Along
with it, good researching skills can help one in doing his/her work fast. It is important for one to
have good researching skills in order to gain advantage in its academic and business
environment.
Study Skills
Study skills are important for an individual to learn and study efficiently. These skills
are used to retain information and to deal with assessments. These skills can include
mnemonics, effective reading and the techniques of concentration. It is important for one to
have good study skills in order to learn fast and being able to retain the required information for
a period. Study skills are used by individuals in examinations and in other places where it is
important for them to make use of studying effectively(Chandra, 2017). During the preparation
of a portfolio it is important to have a good set of study skills where one can stand apart from
the other individuals and attract approaches from all over the world.

Making use of writing, notes and memory are essential for an individual while doing
any task related to their academics or while preparing anything that requires a large amount of
information gathering and sourcing. Better writing skills ensure one's ability to express their
thoughts vividly in words. Preparing notes help one to understand the important areas or
determine what is essential for their research, study, findings etc. It has been observed that notes
can help one to evaluate the required information easily and effectively. Memory is another
effective tool used while retaining information while performing any academic activity. A good
memory helps an individual to gather or generate the required information easily. It has been
seen as an important aspect of learning and studying to have good memory.
Critical Thinking
Critical thinking is known as an ability used by an individual to think rationally and
clearly about what to believe or what to do. The ability includes an individual engagement in
independent and reflective thinking. An individual with critical thinking skills can comprehend
the logical connection between a variety of ideas(Mulligan, 2014). He/she would be able to
solve problems systematically and can identify the importance of ideas and their relevance. It
has been seen essential for an individual to have good critical thinking skills in new knowledge
economy. The thinking skill enhances one's presentation skills and language and promotes
creativity as well. Along with it, it is important for self reflection and determining where one is
making mistakes. In an academic and business environment one needs to have good critical
thinking skills to stand apart in the competition and ensure growth.

The study skills checklist helps in determining whether the tasks of study are going as
per the set requirements or not. It includes a number of points which identifies the problems that
