Few experiences in life are worth noticing as they are the building blocks of our life.
These experiences help to realise the multiplicity of ideas and their practical applicability in life.
These experiences help us shape our decision and make us realise our choice of actions. Such
incidents and experiences in life are essential to look back to find out the validation for certain
decisions taken. Hence, one such experience among many made a crucial impact in my life.
These experiences have shaped my perception of many things in life. It is time to look back to
why I wanted to opt for psychology as my major and what were the issues that bothered me.
During my school days, I experienced one such incident where I started questioning the
psychology and behavioural pattern of people. Near to my locality, there is a slum area where the
children reside in an extremely filthy condition and suffer from multiple health-related issues.
What I noticed among these children was that their extreme childhood was a result of their
parental attitude of frustration towards them. Parents of these children force them to take up jobs
in deplorable condition. This made realise there are more to this type of behaviour among the
parents of these slum children. I wondered all my childhood why people behave a certain way
and whether these issues are only economic or social. I believe there is much more to learn about
this sort of behaviour and this is only possible by understanding the nuances and notions of the
behaviour of individuals. I started questioning the behavioural pattern of people, and this grew
my interest in opting psychology as my major because I believed that this field of study could
help me find my answers to the long-standing questions. Through this course, I hoped to learn
the multiple incidents and behaviour of people. I decided to take up this course because it will
help me to have a holistic understanding of the behaviour of the issue of behaviours of the
individual and how the context influences such behaviour. This course will also help me to
understand the issues that I have largely ignored in my childhood.

I choose to opt for academic writing in my field of studies because it is academic writing
is considered to be more genuine and authentic than the field-based study. Moreover, any
academic research will be easier to do by consulting the academic field of journals, papers and
books. The field-based analysis is based on the first-hand analysis of the data and information,
the academic work is the basis of tested knowledge, and it accepted in the academic field. Even
though field-based knowledge will help me to gather more information and provide me general
experiences in life, academic articles are better sources to rely on. Moreover, field-based studies
are, and it is difficult to conduct in every study; hence academic work is the best sources to
choose and depend on. Fr further research in my field of psychology, I will be focusing on the
academic studies and paper than opting for field-based studies.
The topic that has been chosen is the behavioural factors influencing the outburst of
individual expression in different context. This behavioural pattern also impacts the way people
react, and it is part of the academic field of psychology. The reason and rationale behind
choosing this topic are that it will be unravelling the idea behind the behavioural pattern of the
individual and their underlying factors for a certain set of behaviours. It is often found that there
are a specific set of factors underlying every individual that impact the outburst if certain
expressions for them and it is these factors that led me to opt for psychology as my major.
Moreover, an understanding of these factors will help me to analyse the future aspects of
anyone’s behaviour. This is not to judge anybody’s character from their behavior, but it is to
understand the factors as to why they behave in a certain way and not in some other way. This is
more of a study of the intrinsic behaviour of the human being, and this particular field impacts
my growing interest for the major, psychology.

The impact of choosing this field of study is both at the personal and the professional
level. The personal level, my idea of choosing this field was ultimately to find out the answers
from my childhood memories. At the professional level, it will help me to analyse the societal
issues with greater sensibility and have a broader perspective of the same. It is helpful to find out
the hidden nuances of the issues and their applicability in the societal context. From the
understanding of the study, there are specific hypotheses formed. There are: my knowledge of
psychology will help me to analyse the future issues with greater clarity and have a positive
impact on me; secondly, knowledge acquired through this course study will not have any
positive impact in my understanding of the societal issues. Therefore with the hypothesis,
specific research questions have to be taken into consideration (Brennan et al., 2017). Research
questions are the set of questions which are formulated to find the answer to the further research
and this is done by pointing out the research gap of the literature (Flick, 2015). These research
questions are:
RQ1. How do underlying factors influence the emotional outburst of people?
RQ2. How is the society influencing the collective psychology of people?
Hence, it could be concluded that the psychology which is the study of the human mind
and their behaviour is the key to understand the external behaviour and interaction of people
individually and within a group (Oakley, 2018). Moreover, there are specific experiences in life
which influences the way we all behave and to have a holistic understanding of the same, and it
is essential to take up courses like this which can provide detailed knowledge of the societal
issues.
