Introduction
Self-reflection has been defined as the ability of human being to introspect own activities and
learning more about individual capacity by interpreting own strengths and weaknesses, by
exploring the phenomenon through which the person is undergoing. In the current assignment, I
am going to reflect on the process of the group presentation held by our academic group. The
focus of the group presentation was to develop understanding about the marketing mix of Tesco,
UK.In this context, I have used Gibb’s reflective cycle model for reflecting my experience
through the project.
Discussion
Upon thorough research we have presented the key components of marketing mix of the leading
retailer of UK Tesco. Prior developing the presentation, initially, we gathered information about
the marketing mix, which is a marketing strategy used by the organizations, for analyzing its
market potential and business strategy. It includes four key components, i.e. “product, price,
place and promotion”.
Initially, according to the Tuckman’s theory of group development, there were significant
conflicts among the team members and I felt worried about completing the project several times.
However, with time and with the guidance of our team leader we successfully overcame the
storming phase of the team development model. Further, based on our expertise, our team leader
delegated our team roles, which further mitigated the conflicts and promoted the development of
interpersonal relationship and good communication network among the team members.
Initially, I faced a clash of perspective with another team member regarding the concept of
citation in the presentation documents. As we were supposed to do the citation in the Harvard
format, we searched for guidelines, but found different modules for the same requirement, which
was the reason behind the conflict. However, soon we discuss the issue with our team leader,
who guided us with the most appropriate one, which further ensured us to use the appropriate
style of citation in the project. Upon accomplishing my team roles, I felt happy, as I have
contributed significantly for the team’s success. Further, I have also revealed that development
of my academic writing skills have been enhanced through the project, as I have attempted to

develop the presentation. We discussed with a clearly focused way and wrote the concepts and
information in a clear and logical order, which is easily understood by the audience. We have
also kept the language and interpretation in consideration. Thus, we have attempted to use easy
and short sentences to make the information clear and concise to the audience. It would also
make the discussion interesting to the audience. Further, using vocabulary, I have used several
synonyms for common words, for preventing the presentation to be monotonous to the audience.
In addition, while writing and preparing the document, we have used ‘grammarly software’ for
checking language, grammar or punctuation error in the documenting. Finally, for making the
presentation eye catching, we have included various relevant pictures and innovative fonts in the
presentation slides.
The presentation delivery was done by a group member; however, I have learnt a lot of things
from him, as the presentation style, the approach of introducing the topic to the audience, the
following presentation and communication skills have been discussed and demonstrated within
the team. Thus, it can be interpreted that I have developed in-depth presentation and teamwork
skill, upon undergoing the current group presentation project. Further, I have also developed the
time management skill, upon understanding its necessity within the organizational context. We
have successfully submitted the project within the given delivery, for which our academic team
was also rewarded. Besides developing academic skills, the group presentation project also
helped me to develop knowledge about the business strategies and marketing mix, helped to
become familiar with the leading grocery retailer of the UK, Tesco, which enriched my business
knowledge base significantly.
Action plan and Conclusion
However, through the project, I have identified that besides a lot of skill and knowledge
development, I have also identified some loopholes in my academic skills through the project,
which I need to fulfill, for developing my business and professional potential in future practices.
For instance, I have revealed that I lack patience and reasoning thinking skill. For this, I need to
develop an action plan immediately, to address these issues. For this, I need to undergo
brainstorming activities in both professional and personal activities, need to work within team for
