REFLECTIVE REPORT
Team work is considered as a combination of action of individuals in order to
accomplish a task or responsibilities (Cowan, 2014). In my personal group project, I have faced
various types of situations which I want to reflect in this report. Working in group is not
considered as an easy task as it requires more efforts and discipline as compared to
accomplishment of individual task or job role. In order to discuss the personal; understanding
about working in group, I have utilized the Gibbs's reflective model which gives a proper
understanding about various task and roles which I have accomplished and problems that
occurred in group presentation task (Gibb's reflective cycle, 2017). At the time working in
group, it is essentials for every member to analyse the information of every group members so
that they will be able manage the work effectively without any conflicts. In my group task, I
was working in team of 10 members for development of presentation. The team was developed
by our superiors which consisted of members from different culture and background. Usually
people from different social groups, community and background always have different
perception and thinking which creates many barriers between each other related to work,
commitment, skills and effective communication (Hubbs and Brand, 2010).
Our group has also faced these challenges and just because of these differences some
members have not accomplished their responsibilities effectively at the initial stage. In this
group task of presentation, our three core members whom the tutor have assigned the major
roles were not present at the very first day as they were engaged in their personal task. In this
group presentation, I was having responsibility of gathering data and information about the
topic and also to a guide two of our new members who have newly joined the institution. After
making effective discussion with each other, remaining team members have started working on
presentation. After some days, those three core members came and we clarified all decisions
and discussions made with mentors, rest of members have started working without making any
discussion with them. This improper communication created a major difference between the
team members.
In this task, I have accomplished as my task properly and always reacted positively with
some all other member but sometime I also faced issues in providing justification for my
opinion about the task which has created some conflict situations. For the accomplishment of
group task each and every member is required to respect the opinions of each other (Husebø,

O'Regan and Nestel, 2015). In the beginning stage our group has also faced various difficulties
which has affected our work and wasted time. I have analysed that the difference in cultural,
community, perception and thinking always creates issues which is desirable to be resolved for
achievement of goals. In this situation, I felt that we will not be able to accomplish the
presentation successfully. This was also the feeling of all other members but ultimately, we all
decided not to make any comment on personal life experiences and opinions of each other. Now
the situation was changed and all the remaining members were committed towards each other.
Positive thing about this situation which I have realized was that every member in team
was not ready to communicate and doesn't know each other but after making interaction we all
developed positive perception for each other. Negative aspect in this situation was conflicts
which have occurred with the three members. But without their contribution, all other members
have coordinated with each other. The other team members have also contributed positively in
this situation and tried to convince those three members.
We all have completed all the task with proper coordination and scheduled all the
activities to manage the time. At the end of weak four, we had to submit the presentation to
tutor but there was need to add some more tasks in slides and the core members were making
not making any effort. But at the end of third week, one member came to support and also
contributed in making remaining slides. At the time of submission, all members refused to put
those two members name in presentation. After submission, the two members have complained
that the task was not completed as per the discussion which created conflict with other
members.
In this situation, tutor assisted in resolving the dispute by giving proper guidance and
support. Thus, the review of literature also provides an understanding that conflicts between
team members are significant for achievement of cooperation. Conflicts between member
hamper the performance of each other. Further, we all have faced various challenges but at the
end of presentation we all have achieved positive results. In my review, we have done great job
and provided our best to accomplish the task.
Thus, it has been analysed that team work is important for completion of every group
task as it enhances skills and potentials to work in critical situation. The challenges which we
have faced have provided major ethical values and we have also achieved positive results.
