REFLECTIVE ESSAY
I have passion for working in the health and social care sector. It provides me an
opportunity for making positive improvements in the lives of people. My professional passion
comprises of making positive improvements in my skills and capabilities so that I can improvise
my capabilities. Model of practice that could be used is Healy's model.
The Healy's model of practice describes about framework that could be used for developing
understanding about professional purpose that is used in the society. Social work is a diverse
field and it involves activities which require a specific set of skills in an individual. Major task
that is needed to be performed by me as a social worker comprise of rendering support and
advocacy.
I am also required to involve in the risk management and implementation of regulatory
law. Along with this, I need to do social planning and social service administration. I am also
responsible for providing therapeutic intervention and direct service to individuals living in the
society. As a social worker my responsibility is for doing negotiations and constructing our sense
of purpose with the various service users. It will provide an opportunity to work for the welfare
of the needy people of the society and it will also support for working towards people of the
society. My professional passion is for working in health and social care sector with objective to
bring positive changes in the lives of people. As a social care worker, I want to meet needs and
requirements of my clients and provide them better care and support.
I am working in health and social care sector and it requires me to engage with the
family, individuals, children and other members living in the society. For accomplishing my
passion, it is required that I should make use of effective communication skills so that proper and
effective interaction should be made with the clients. It will help me in identifying and resolving
the issues that are faced by them. I want to work in this sector as I have good leadership skills
which helps me for providing assistance to the needy people of the society. I have good listening
skills which can be used by me for identifying the issues faced by people living in society. I can
better understand the problems faced by individuals and hence can give effective solutions to
them. I always follow the client's achievements which helps me to develop effective and positive
relationship with the clients.

However I have some weaknesses also and for that I need to make more improvements in
my existing capabilities. I need to work on my language barriers so that I can properly
understand the issues that are faced by my clients. In addition to that one of my weak performing
area is my communication skills and I need to make more improvement in that area. It will
support me for making proper and effective interaction with my clients.
It is essential that I should make use of theoretical models, strategies, ideas, practices and
principles for influencing my practice. Karen Healy's model is the most preferred model that I
want to use for my practices. In this model, appropriate and effective framework has been
provided which helps for performing all the required social work in more effective and better
manner.
I also give preference for making use of dynamic model of practice. Major reason for
making use of this framework is that it illuminates the practices and processes through social
care practices. This model provides an effective framework for enhancing the understanding
about how and in what manner our professional purposes are constructed in practice. Model of
practice describes about the major key components of social work.
Constructing social work practices provided a basis blueprint for completing social work
practices. It is also required that ethical principles should be followed by me so that my work
should be completed by complying with ethical values. I provide equal working opportunity for
my clients and make no discrimination with them on the grounds of sex, age, religion and
education qualification. All individuals are treated by me in equal manner and thus it helps me
for following ethical principle. I keep confidentiality of information of all my patients and make
it ensure that all the information and details provided by me is kept confidential. All the ethical
principles are followed by me while giving care and support to my clients.
Formal professional base includes service discourses that are especially from the human
sciences and formal theories of professional practices and grand theories are mentioned in the
formal professional base. Framework for practice as described under the model of practice

experiences so that I can make improvisation on my weak performance areas. It will support me
in performing well and giving better care and support to people with whom I am going to get
associated.
Developed skills: I have good listening skills and these skills are beneficial for me in
understanding the issues and problems that are faced by the community people. I can give proper
support to Individuals who are in need and it will make positive improvements in my
professional career.
Acquired knowledge: Acquired knowledge through social work practices and it will be
beneficial in ensuring long term success and growth in my career. This will help me for making
more improvements in current skills and capabilities and thus it will be beneficial for making
development and growth in my career. I will become capable for making improvement in my
communication skills and thus I will become capable for making effective interaction with my
fellow workers and it will support me in talking and having communication with my clients.
