Reflective Statement
This study is conducted with a motive to review the impact of E-HRM on employee
engagement and performance in Singapore. Through this, I am able to gain significant learning
with respect to subject manner and conduct of research. I came to know regarding varied
advanced trends in HRM and ways they are supporting organisation in attaining its business
objectives. Earlier, I was in impression that HRM has very limited scope with respect to attaining
key motive of business and therefore possess less importance. However, my view has changed
significantly as this research has helped me in identifying different aspects and importance of
HRM for organisation. It is evident from the research that E-HRM certainly helps the company
in boosting the performance of employees and also assist in enhancing their engagement level
(Brockbank, McGill and Beech, 2017).
Apart from this, my personal skills also improved from this study. Earlier, I was having
very less knowledge about conducting literature review and finding relevant materials for it. In
this context, I have taken guidance from my mentor and able to learn key work search technique
and filtering of relevant materials. This skill has improved significantly and will surely help me
in future for conducting relevant searches. Through literary search skill, I can now find relevant
study material for me on the internet which will assist me in boosting my knowledge and
competency (Gould and Taylor, 2017). Beside this, my critical thinking skill is also gets
improved from this study as I learned about doing critics of one author’s viewpoint from that of
another. From this, now I am able to think critically by reviewing pros and cons of every aspect.
This will help me in future career to take relevant and appropriate decision in every scenario.
Further, this study has helped me in improving time management skills which I was
lacking before. I am now able to learn prioritising and scheduling tasks so that each and every
work can be completed on time. In this initial phase of this study, I was not able to cope up with
deadline and hence my mentor helped me in prioritising task. This is one of the key skill which
will help me in future to complete my roles and responsibilities on time by scheduling and
prioritising it (Fowler Jr, 2013). Further, I have learnt that I can do time management by
delegating less crucial task and focusing mainly on crucial tasks.
Apart from this, I faced several challenges also while conducting this study. My
knowledge on research methodology is not that crucial and therefore I need to improve the same
by undertaking different measures. For this, I can focus on reading books and learning material

of research methodology along with searching on internet for the same. Beside this, I can review
methodology of different past research in order to gain knowledge regarding different application
of combination of research tools and techniques (Bell, Bryman and Harley, 2018). Additionally,
I faced challenges in developing questionnaire on my own and hence I need to improve this skill
as well. For this, I can take guidance from my mentor and access online material.
