ACCOUNTING FOR MANAGERS
I thought this course were the same as others for example assignment and exams
however, it showed that this course has its own way of teaching and also its more of understating
that could lead to do better with own business or life. I had kept a high expectation for this
course. Thus, the course changed the way I perceived the subject of accounting for managers. I
thought the course would not be much interactive, however the teachers and the professors made
the course easier for me to understand and the total process was very interactive and
understandable. I could ask question whenever I wanted to. I anticipated a rather less dynamic
classroom. With this course the challenging and difficulties were language problems and
managing time and some family issues and also not knowing how to put my ideas together due to
the language. The language problem is also a challenge for daily interaction with my friends and
colleagues. Other challenges were time management, I also did a part time job with my studies
so time was too difficult to manage.
When it comes to confusion regarding the course. The way of learning in this course was
different to other courses that I have done before which contribute to make some confusing. This
was completely a new method of learning for me. The way teachers presented the subject matter
to me and the new way of submitting assignments, all these were new to me. However, the help
which I got from my classmates and teachers was really commendable. It not only helped me in
learning new things but it also helped me grow as a person. It was difficult for me to acquaint
with the new culture. I was in a state of dilemma about what this new situation will bring for me.
Language was not the only difficulty but the way of living and conducting oneself in the
classroom.However, the interest in this course was helping me with writing better reports and
understanding the case study in short time. I developed an amazing skill of writing my papers
very quickly and comprehensively.

I have had a good experience in this course. The team that I worked with made me feel
comfortable to share my ideas with them even though I have some language problems and also I
am less engaging in class. I have been trying to build up my communication skills in order to
upgrade myself to become a better communicator which is very necessary for working in a
professional setting. My colleagues are cooperating with me in this regard. However there were
challenges in the course of, not having enough time for group presentation as every member was
busy with work and staff. It was very tense situation as the group presentation had to be
submitted on a particular due date. However the group members were not getting common time
and place to arrange and prepare, ultimately a few of the members including me had to take the
initiative and prepare the presentation.
The challenges were overcome by finding that sometimes were hard to meet up so
everyone did each part by themselves and this was done because this presentation was one of the
most important part of the assignment without which marks could be deducted by the teacher.
Hence it was decided that everyone will work on their own in their houses, and talk sometimes
over skype, that was the response at that time and the reason is also stated already. This resulted
in presenting a good presentation. Everyone was successful in giving their best and everyone put
their best effort working in details day and night at their homes. When everyone’s work was
compiled it was seen that the total work was very presentable and of fine quality.
In order to improve the way I responded I Tried to have a day off where everyone can be
able to come and do the work together. I believe if the work was done while everybody was
together a much better quality work could have been produced. Because there was a lack of
communication some parts of the presentation was not of the expected quality. There was lack of
cohesiveness.Managing my time between my work and my university. Doing a fulltime job and

also managing studies was something that was really difficult to manage. The next time I would
take enough care that the work and studies are both given equal importance. The teachers were
quite helpful in providing me with the notes at the correct time which I could study.
Team working had a huge impact on me which being more socialist with others. What
changed me as a person was the team work and team learning spirit. We were working like a
family and that made me a better communicator and socializing person. I was not a very social
person prior to this situation. This also made me a professional person. With this course my
views about life and other things did not change radically, though my attitude and the way I
handle things changed. I am now a more matured and better communicating and socializing
person. I am now a professional with various aptitudes and skills. My views are same but my
approach is now different. While self evalautaing myself I came to know that I can do better in
every assignment of I had the language. I have understood I have many things inside me which
will help me grow as a person and grow as a professional. These are positive attitude, the desire
to learn and socializing with people from various backgrounds. I just need to work on my
language skills and that would propel my career to new heights.
When it comes to interaction i’m friendly with everyone and I respect everyone in their
way. While interacting with other team members I have found out that I have no issue in
conversing with the team mates and respect their opinion and way of contribution. I have made
new friends and I believe that I have become confident in my communication skills. I can
improve my vocabulary I started developing my language skills through reading more books.
The only issue that I faced in the interaction process in the team work is the linguistic barrier. I
have been facing problem in communicating my views in English and therefore in order to
rectify the lag I need to read more books to improve my vocabulary and communication skills.

This course showed that things could be easy to understand, and the teacher were helped
full of everything.After doing the course I have gained more confidence and have become more
self-reliable. The complexity in doing things have reduced. The credit goes to my teacher and her
continuous support.In reviewing the learning goals it cn be said that I have achieved all the some
of them because it was a little hard.Although the course increased my confidence and I was
being able to achieve few of the learning goals. There were hurdles too as few of the topics were
quite hard for me to cope up especially because of my lack in language skills and limitation of
time.When it comes to self-development, I believe this course has helps me achieve more
confidence and friendly. Moreover I have more aware of the facts and knowledge about the
accounting and finance which I had no idea about.
In addition to this, in this course we had group presentation in class and our group
worked so hard. However, we had some problems which not having enough time to practice so
that lead to not understanding the PowerPoint slides and explained them clearly, another group
had some problem as will which was reading too much from the slides and writing in the slides
as will and that’s not good in the presentation, also one of the group where not very clear about
their slides and what is in them and they were talking a bit slow. Best think in the presentation
was when the teacher give you here idea and what she thought of the presentation and give up
some tips as will so you will know how to do better next time in the presentation. The basic
concepts that I have obtained will help me in my academic knowledge about basic accounting
process. This will have a positive effect in my academic result.
