REFLECTIVE JOURNAL
The motive behind maintaining reflective journal is recording, activities, events,
notes, reflection, questions of my topic which i have gone through while making
presentation. All the information in reflective statement is related with personal
experience of some specific activities. Further, in my reflective statement discuss my
experience while making group presentation on Pestle analysis of Easy jet. For sharing
my experience I used Gibbs model of reflective.
Description
In our college, I came across my first group activity, which was making
presentation on Pestle analysis of Easy jet the leading airway company of UK.
Professors briefed that we need to include only two factors of Pestle in presentation
which were Political and economical.
Personal feelings
Initially, when I was assigned the project I was very nervous as it was my first
group activity. On the other hand, I was happy because I like researching and doing
extracurricular with studies. When my teachers introduced me to other 3 members I was
quite happy as everyone was friendly and seemed cooperative. Further, I was even
excited as Easy Jet is one of my favourite airway organisations and I would love to
measure and analyse its political and economic factors.
Evaluation
However, when we all four started working on presentation, I asked them to
divide the work according to skills and capabilities as it will lead to smooth functioning
and will lead to time management. Researching about Easy jet was fun as we used
different methods of data collection like, social media, magazines, Blogs, articles, etc.
Collecting information updated me about my political issues which the company can
across like there is a chance of War in middle east which will lead to decrease in net
turnover because of fights, destruction and outbreaks. Further, while making
presentation we even included positive factors like European union enlargement can
provide access to easy jet in expanding into new market. In contrast, we even included
economic factors of Easy jet which help me in increasing of knowledge about economic

condition UK in context to airway like, increasing fuel prices, insurance rates,
congestion can affect the profitability of airline company.
Hence, there was no problem in collection of data but the making of presentation
turned difficult for me because we had last two days left when two of our group
members were absent without any update. I found that very irresponsible because it is
very difficult to analyse the data collected by someone else. Besides, i anyway
managed the work alone and completed the presentation. On the day of presentation, I
was pre-planned about the process of presenting the PPT, I did not want to spoil my
first activity that is why i focused on every factor which can enhance my presentation. In
contrast, i even decided to distribute feedback cards among audiences which will help
us in improving our presentation skills and content selection.
Conclusion
In last, I would like to summarize by saying that overall it was challenging
experience for me with dealing with irresponsible people but I anyway managed.
Further, on the day of presentation i even shared my personal knowledge about
economic condition affecting airline company like recession is likely to last for some
more time and that is why business people will control their travel expenses which will
affect the net profitability of Easy Jet. Sharing this with audiences helped me in
connecting with all of them. Hence, everybody appreciated our efforts and shared their
views about the content we included in PPT.
Action
I identified that working with group is not easy task, coordination and cooperation
is a must if we are working in a group. Besides, from feedback cards, I got reviews
about lack of content so next I will focus on collecting more relevant information.
Henceforth, everyone among audiences and even my teachers appreciated my idea of
collection of feedback by distributing cards in audiences. Further, after all the problems I
evaluated that Creating discussion among audiences which makes PPT more attractive
as all the factors presented will even be discussed among teachers and students. In this
semester because of time management I was unable to make use of debate cards but
surely I will use them in my presentation in next semester. This was a new experience
for me and now I am prepared for my next presentation as i learned to coordinate efforts

of other people. I leaned to be independent for every work whether it is to be done in
group or alone.
