is dependent on how effective and efficient is communication human beings spend a lot of
their time communicating with each other so as to get things done (Leddy, 2014). Everything
that human being takes part in is dependent on communication, that is how it was done or it
should be done. The foundation of the latter former is dependent on the relation which was
created by communication.in business at communication, relation is also a crucial part for
any communication (Root II, 2013). I have realized that communication that is effective and
efficient is very crucial for the success of any business. Business places their customers at the
top of the chain in business. Various customers have different emotional intelligence, as an
employee in a firm, it was my responsibility to ensure that all customer is attended to and
communication was effective. Without effective communication skills, no business can
flourish.in a competitive environment, for one to survive in, it is very crucial to have effective
communication skills with the clients(McKay, 2012) .The effectiveness of any communication
will determine the relationship with the people. In order for any business to survive in the
industry competitor, it is very crucial to have effective communication skills so to retain good
communication with the clients. The way I communicate determines the kind of relationship I
will have with my peers. For a business, having the best product in the market cannot help
them stay ahead of the competition, only efficient communication which will create a good
relationship with the clients can. The ability to communicate effectively will enhance the
overall performance as well(Brewer, 2010).
During my studies of business communication, I have sharpened my skills in communication.
Communication is a significant process in our lives. This is because without communication
we cannot be able to express ourselves to others and understand what other’s needs, hence
there will be no development. Nevertheless, communication majorly public speaking has
been my greatest weakness. Since it is something that I can have control over, I decided to
take a business communication course so as to improve on my weakness. I find difficulty in
talking in public due to panicking which result in ineffective communication. After going
through some parts of my course, I have realized a lot of improvement in my communication
skills. I can comfortably make a presentation in front of my class members and even give
them a chance to ask any queries on areas that they did not understand well.it all started in the
group work, whereby I would be able to speak up my ideas and opinion even if they were in

contrast of what my group members thought of, without feeling out of place or having
insecurity of what they would think of me suppose my point was not backed up .To my
surprise my English skill has improved a lot. During my interaction with people from various
professions, I used to be surprised at how eloquent and confident they were speaking to any
person in fluent English. That was something which admired a lot in them.at most times I
prefer listening to other people while they talk, this is because I find they're English fluent as
opposed to mine. When am in a group of people I am comfortable with, I don’t find difficulty
in expressing myself since I feel like they understand what I am trying to say. Often times I
think of what am saying as a stupid thought due to lack of confidence. Before I could talk to a
group of people I used to spend a lot of time, organizing my vocabularies an arranging my
words so as to follow the correct sentence syntax.
As I learned more about business communication, it occurred to me that effective
communication is very crucial and it should be bestowed with the responsibility that is
colossal. During my conversation with various managers during my industrial attachment, I
realized that good managers possess effective communication skills. Managers handle
various employees and customers of various personality (Rohn, 2009). In order to protect the
company interest as well as the internal and external customers, managers should be able to
communicate in a way that is possible for all parties to encode the message without
confusion. I realized that good managers have nurtured communication skills to perfection. It
is essential for managers to build relationship that is sustainable. When the message is
conveyed clearly it will help the team members which will in return ensure there is team
success. I observed that managers who were able to communicate clearly enhanced the team
success possibility in the areas that they were supervising through a bigger margin.
Misunderstanding in organisation is prevented through good communication among the
members.
I learned that in business communication strategy development is very crucial and it should
be relevant and effective. That means that the strategy should be effectively connected with
the organization objective and core values (MacLachlan, 2011). A communication program
which does not incorporate the firm’s values and mission works against its own purpose. It
also very crucial to have a good structure on how information flows within the firm. I learned
that organization is very keen on recruiting the people who will deal with communication or
any message convenience. A communication strategy that is efficient has its benefits in other
