Reflective writing
Reflective writing is a practice that can help an individual in developing their skills and abilities.
It is a part or academic period that can help in shaping the identity of the individuals. With the
help of reflective writing, I am able to analyze my views and my approaches towards a study.
Reflection will help me in analyzing my course of actions and my study material in a specific
manner. With the help of reflective study, I will be able to link my academic life with my
personal period. This relation will help me in analyzing new theories and approaches associated
with my study material (Newcomb, Burton and Edwards, 2018).
In my academic studies, I am able to learn the various concepts about reflective writing.
Reflective writing is the process of analyzing and examines various events, observations, and
memory. Reflective writing helped me to examine various events which happened to me in my
life. Reflective writing helped me in enhancing my knowledge about certain things and also
assess me in order to rewind all the events happened to me in the past and the effects of these
events on my life. With the help of reflective writing, I am able to develop my personalities and
also able to determine my strengths and weaknesses.
Reflective writing is a continuous process that starts from exposure to events to actually
reflecting on the same. In this process, the initial activity is to get into an event or activity. In my
scholastic period, I was able to get myself involved in a number of activities and events that
helped me in enhancing my scope of learning and my expertise. The second step of reflection is
related to learning. In this step I will try to capture the themes and findings from the events that I
have attended or gained information from. These findings will help me in the task of reflection,
and I will be able to deliver my thoughts regarding the same. The third step of the concerted
activity is learning. In this step, I will try to evaluate the findings and will try to learn from them
(Newcomb, Burton and Edwards, 2018). This step is related to understanding and personal
ability to interpret factors. Under this step, I will try to study the findings that I concluded from
the event and will try to gather learning from it. The last step of the process is the ultimate
reflection. Under this process, I will be reflecting the things and approaches that I learnt from the
event. This will help me in enhancing my skills and in like manner help me in enhancing my

personal knowledge. By applying this practice in the real world, I will be able to enhance myself
and my knowledge building capability.
There are many methods of reflective writing through which reflective writing can be done
(Naber and Wyatt, 2014). These methods are the use of various blogs, several learning journals,
and portfolio. These are the methods through which reflective writing can be done. Reflective
writing plays a vital role in the life of a student. In my academic career, I did not know the
importance of reflective writing, and as a result, I am not able to perform better in my
assignments. If I used reflective writing at the time of finalizing my assignments, then I am
pretty sure I would perform better in those assignments.
With the passing time, I got to realize the importance of reflective writing in the life of a student.
Soon I adopted reflective writing in order to learn various things from the events happening to
me. Reflective writing not only improved my learning skills but also enhances my knowledge
and made me more proactive. There were many incidents in my academic career where I got to
know the importance of reflective writing (Buck, et al., 2013). These incidents happened in my
academic career, and I was having a group conversation with my friends. One of my friends who
use to do reflective writing on a daily basis told me the importance of reflective writing. He told
me various facts about reflective writing and also the significance of reflective writing in daily
routine. He was trying to convince me to adopt the strategy, but I was not able to get convince
fully, and as a result, I ignored him in terms of adopting reflective writing.
Another incident which has happened in my life was related to a workshop that was conducted in
my academic career. This workshop was conducted by higher authorities. The workshop was on
Governance and the role of stakeholders in the company. From that Workshop, I was able to
understand the importance of reflective writing, as there were many incidents where the
importance of reflective writing has explained. Soon I adopted reflective writing and started
writing about many incidents that happened in my life (Newcomb, Burton and Edwards, 2018).
In my academic background the course that I am studying is related to Information Policy and
Governance, this is an extremely informative course and will help me in developing myself. By
reflecting on this study, I will be able to analyze the requirement of governance and stakeholders
in an organization. This study will likewise provide me with a chance to build myself manager of

a firm and reflect my thoughts and ideas as a manager. By reflecting my thoughts, I will be able
to exercise control over my perceptions and the way I think and formulate plans. This will not
only help me in developing creativity among myself but will likewise increase my knowledge as
a manager of the firm (Shum, et al., 2016).
By identifying and acquiring the deliverables of the course I was able to enhance my information
regarding a stakeholder of the organization. I was able to learn about the value that the
stakeholders hold in an organization and the skills they pursue. A was able to attend a number of
seminars in which my faculty informed me about the role of stakeholders and governance in an
organization. Our lecturer tried to explain to us a number of cases studied regarding the power of
governance in an organization. With the help of this study, I was able to develop my potential
and my capacity. I believe that this information will prove helpful for me in my academic period
and will likewise help me in resolving my personal and professional issues. The specific
information helped me in understanding the role and responsibilities of a manager that they hold
towards the stakeholders of an organization. With the help of this study, I will be able to develop
my interpersonal and my communication skills. By reflecting over this subject, I will be able to
develop ideas and approaches in a more specific and practical manner (Newcomb, Burton and
Edwards, 2018).
With the help of reflective writing, I am able to enhance my knowledge more, and also I started
performing better in my assignments. There are many methods of shaping reflective writing
(Coleman and Willis, 2015). In order to shape reflective writing, I started examining various
incidents and writing various things about those incidents like why this incident has happened,
what is the reason behind this incident, what were the things I could do that time and how can I
behave in a more appropriate manner if this incident happens again. What are the things I learn
from that incident and what are the conclusions of that incident?
These are the various things which can be examined with the help of reflective writing. The main
purpose of reflective writing is to improve understanding and also professional competency in
order to facilitate personal and professional development. It improves my way of thinking and
learning and permits me to evaluate my development of the learning process with the passing
time. Reflective writing helped me in becoming more challenging and proactive. It also helped
me in understanding the various anxieties involved in the learning process.

Reflective writing has improved me with time, and now I am able to do reflective writing more
effectively. I am able to examine incidents happen to me more effectively now with the help of
reflective writing. It is a great way to learn a certain thing from the incidents that happen to us
(Shum, et al., 2016). Without reflective writing, I will not be able to learn so many things from
the various incidents that happen to me. Reflective writing not only enhances my personality but
also improved my way of thinking. It made me a totally different person and more proactive and
a good observer. My writing skills, listening skills, learning skills, and thinking skills have been
developed with the help of reflective writing.
For providing my reflection on the respective topic, I tried to interlink each aspect with my
personal life. I tried to participate in activities that will help me in enhancing my concerned skill.
In my academic period, I was provided with a number of assignments that helped me in learning
new aspects every time. I believe that if those assignments are attempted by me in a reflective
manner than history would have been totally different. I would be able to grasp and learn the
things in the more specific and correct manner. In my scholastic period, I have to attend a
number of seminars. In order to develop my reflective skills, I tried to adopt a practice of
reflecting every topic. This helps me in learning the course in a more effective manner. I was
able to remember all the concepts and theories as taught by my teacher and was likewise able to
enhance my expertise as an individual. By reflecting on my course, I was able to learn all the
aspects in detail and was able to understand all the practices effectively (Naber and Wyatt,
2014).
With the help of my course 7118IBA Information Policy and Governance, I was able to learn
a number of significant element related to management and governance. With the help of the
course, I was able to enhance my capacity of solving issues and complexities. I try to study
things in a more specific manner and try to involve the practices in my personal life. This helps
me in enhancing flexibility in myself. With the help of such skills, I will be able to face
uncertainties and complexities in my professional period. This course likewise assisted me in
evaluating the significances of contemporary policy issues. With the help of this information, I
will be able to exercise changes and will likewise be able to enhance the chances of creativity.
This will help me in enhancing the ability to think above all the ideas and perspectives. With the

help of this course the reflective skills I will be able to develop myself as a professional identity
(Kurunsaari, Tynjälä and Piirainen, 2016).
With the help of reflective study, I will be able to understand each idea and approach incorrect
manner. I have to face a number of obstacles such as communication barrier among the students,
lack of reading and learning skills, lack of flexibility and so forth. But I was able to enhance my
skills and erode the obstacles with the support and guidance of my teachers. They were very
helpful and cooperative and helped me in resolving the issues effectively (Buck, Sobiechowska
and Winter, 2013).
During my scholastic period, my teacher asked me to go through a number of journal papers that
will help me in addressing my issues and concerns. By reading a number of journal papers
regarding the role and importance of governance in an organization I was able to enhance by area
of thinking regarding the specific concept. Reading the journal paper will help me in
understanding the theories and policies related to governance and information policy. Along with
it my teacher likewise told me to attend the seminars of the respective topics (Coleman and
Willis, 2015). This will help me in gaining knowledge regarding my course. In future, I will try
to enhance my learning and reading skills by taking help of journal papers and articles available
on online platforms.
