Week 9: Sustainable Procurement Management
Based on week 9 learning, sustainable procurement management is discussed its
concepts from project management perspective. The main objectives of this study
are to appraise importance of sustainable procurement management in Australia
(Procurement and Council 2007). Models are also mentioned in this week’s
reading like sustainable procurement, applicable to the organization irrespective
to organizational size. I indicated that the sustainable procurement is one of the
most priority of the procurement management and it is installed in the public
procurement programme.
The Insight
Describe
This week discusses on importance of the sustainable purchasing as well as
supplying for the organization to gain a competitive advantage. Knowing the role
of supply chain sustainability helps me to get understanding that it is integral to
the sustainable procurement so that the materials are gained in ethical way.
Interpret
I evaluated that sustainable management of value chain implied that the
organization should use their purchasing power and influence to deal with the
suppliers as well as clients. Examples are not provided on the sustainable
procurement results in my difficulty to understand the concepts in critical way. In
my point of view, green supply chain should be mentioned for improving
environmental sustainability with various practices (Department of
Sustainability, Environment, Water, Population and Communities 2013).
Evaluate
Six steps of the sustainable procurement policy helps me to plan for the social
responsibility. It induces behavioral alternations in purchasing department. I used
my learning in my course work by linking the sustainable procurement concepts
with the corporate social responsibility at the universities of Australia.
