Reflective Journal
Week 1
The first session of the week was an introduction round to the entire module. Tutor has
assigned us to an activity which includes the interaction with my class mates to know them,
and about each other’s ability. I have learned the effective points about personalized
learning and how it helps in settling the goals and provide various opportunities to sharpen
skills and learning personal as well as academic development. This session have provided
information about the procedure, module that I was supposed to learn and the time it will
take. Tutor has started interacting with us and started asking about our goals and worries
and was telling us to be punctual and regular in the classroom while discussion for learning
as much as possible we can from this module. Tutor guided us to take part in all the
activities that will help in reaching to our future goals. We have also discussed about our
expectations and goal settings. We get to know about the three parts of the assessment that
includes Weekly reflective journal, personal learning and development and the final one
was personal interview. These parts have given me a clear vision for this entire assessment
that what I am going to be learning. And entire procedure will help me in improving my
skills and self-development.
Week 2
This week includes the summative and formative assessments and reflective learning and this
will be on my personal experience or observation during the session. I have learned that how I
can be positive at situations and about eliminating the bad habits that can be an obstacle in my
career path. There I have also learned about the Kolb’s learning cycle. This procedure includes
the learning stages which give an experience of observing, than forming and conclude it at the
end for a hypothetical situation; this process experience covers under a test. We have also given

the Honey &Mumford learning styles questionnaire including 40 statements and I have to click
on those options which suits me. The questionnaire section has categorized students in 4
different parts such as, activist, reflector, theorist, and the final pragmatist. These categories
were as per their selection. And this section has given me an identity for my own self as a
theorist. I also had to resolve a bunch of questions with my own experiences and what I have
learnt that includes my talent, morality, goals, behaviour, basic information and many more.
This activity has helped me to understand and examine myself better as an individual.
Week 3
The third week includes the reflective and academic writing. I had participated in a group
discussion for the academic writings and was taught about the do’s and don’ts which is to be
included in an academic writing. I learned about the difference between academic and reflective
writings. Also learned the academic writing styles and paragraph writing. I learned the
procedures of reflective writing and its important elements that covers, grammatical error,
paragraph structuring etc. The basis of reflective writing is my own learning experience or
process that covers the descriptive and factual materials or evidences for supporting and
developing my own analysis. I had studied about Jenny Moon’s developed sample which was
written by the Marianne, and it includes a presentation on different levels of reflective learning
for an incident situation. This example had cleared all my doubts about the topic and gave me a
clear understanding. I had also taken part in an activity where I had to fill a sheet to ensure about
my reflective writing skills for the exact results. I have also been asked to prepare a weekly
planner on my daily targets or goals for a period of time for increasing my daily outcomes. And
it actually helped me in completing my tasks.

Week 4
This week includes the paragraph structure. I learned that paragraph divides a topic in various
sentence structures. And covers a topic or an idea from various different perspectives. Topic,
main body, and the conclusion, these are the structure of a paragraph. Tutor had taught about the
PEE (L) or PEA (L) structures. These are the most accurate paragraph structures that refer to the
examples, evidences, explanations and the analysis. I have also learned about the four important
elements such as, unity, coherence, order, and the completeness. For writing an article or essays,
understanding the technicalities of a paragraph help us to write an effective and valuable writing
paragraph or essay. As writing a paragraph is the core point for every writing structure. Tutor
has also taught that how a paragraph should be logical and related to the topic. To make a sense
of it. And from the previous week I examined the sample of Moons, which was really helpful to
understand the reflective and paragraph writing.
Week 6
This week section includes the presentation skills. I learned that what a presentation is and its
importance. In what manner it should present, and advantages of it. I learned about examining a
presentation with its good and bad factors such as language of the writer or speaker, content
quality, fluency and the accuracy. An individual’s body language and the way an individual
interact with the people who are listeners and the most important his confidence. Whether there
is a charisma factor available in presentation content wise or but presentation should be
outstanding. That only makes a presentation better and qualitative. Practice is really important
before giving a presentation for better results, because it clears doubts and questions that people
can ask. Sometimes when you are not clear about the topics you are going to explain or
providing details about, people get anxious and start feeling uncomfortable at that moment. To

gain the audience interest, and make them comfortable, a speaker should look confident with the
content and presentable for their body language. Conversation is also an important slement
while presenting something, because it makes it more interesting and get the more participation.
Through the entire session, I learned about the guidelines to be followed in the future while
giving any presentation.
Week 7
This section includes the library exercise. This exercise helps in using the library guides for
supporting the sentence structure we made for the academic writings. In this section tutor had
taught us to find the books in digital library. There were 5 challenges that includes, solving three
library jargons quizzes to learn about the terminology requires for the library use. Then we need
to put books back in order by some tricks and tips. And the third includes searching an article
without Google help for an example, (Kyger, 2017).

The fourth one was the searching about the Mintel and passport databases. And the final
challenge was to do the assignment along with a colleague who is performing on the same
assignment with the help of library sources. This task has helped me to understand the
importance of accessing library along with the ability to work in a team.

Week 8
This final week includes avoiding plagiarism. And to understand this section I have completed 7
tasks to learn about plagiarism along with references list and in-text citation. The first task
provided the meaning of plagiarism, and then I learned about the academic misconducts. Then
we moved to the next task which includes the reasons of conducting plagiarism and a brief
introduction about referencing. And then in the fourth task I have answered the questions for
understanding the in-text citation in different forms. Then we moved to the next task we were
asked to browse an extract of an article by Johnson and Ormerod (2007). We have learned about
providing referencing and importance of in-text citation, to support the idea or findings. Also,
the acceptable and unacceptable things for the citations. In the next task, I have learned about
the avoiding plagiarism by citing a text in both acceptable and unacceptable manner. And the
final task number seven was including a brief detail about in-text and referencing styles by
given a choosing list of true and false. At the end tutor had provided three tasks to do on the
basis of entire week we were taught about. This section had helped me in avoiding plagiarism
and made my writing better with the use of references and in-text citation.
