AI Summary
This essay explores the significance of a reflective approach to learning within the management discipline, emphasizing the importance of self-evaluation and continuous improvement through feedback. It uses Gibbs' reflective model to analyze personal learning experiences, highlighting the development of skills and knowledge by addressing weaknesses and leveraging strengths. The essay further discusses the roles of feedback and feedforward in enhancing formative and summative assessments, noting how these tools enable students to understand their performance, adjust their learning strategies, and achieve better outcomes. It concludes that reflective learning, combined with effective feedback mechanisms, is crucial for students to develop self-awareness, improve their skills, and prepare for future professional challenges.

INTRODUCTION
Reflection refers to the self evaluation from past experience in order to determine the
strengths and weaknesses. Reflective learning refers to the process of examine strengths as well
as exploring areas for improvement in order to develop critical thinking skills. It is a form of
education in that learners reflects on their personal learning experiences (Siegel and
Krummenauer-Grasser, 2022). It helps a student to improve their skills and knowledge by
reducing their mistakes and enhance their strengths. It also enable a learner to develop their skills
related to various concepts for their higher studies. By using Gibbs reflective model a learner can
know about their skills, feeling and make plan for future development. By receiving feedbacks
and feedforwards on their performance by teachers they can improve their productive to conduct
formative and summative assessment effectively.
This project covers the importance of a reflective approach to learning with in
management discipline. Further it covers an ability to use feedback and feedforward as an
integral to inform along with improve future formative as well as summative assessed work.
MAIN BODY
Reflection plays an important role in a student life as it helps them to develop their
understanding and enhance their self awareness. It also motivates them to increase their efforts
and engagement in project as well as work processes. By using Gibbs reflective model a person
can conduct their self reflection effectively. It is introduced in 1988 by Graham Gibbs in order
provide clear structure to learning from past experience. It has six stages which allow me to learn
and plan from learning process. The first stage is description, in which I define my experience
while learning process of management (Parker-Eames, 2018). I participated and joined a institute
in order to gain skills and knowledge related to management to get better job opportunities in
future. At initial stage of this process, I was quite nervous and not confident to understand skills
and familiar with people and environment. It a a course which has various topics related to
business such as culture, management polices, structure, theory, principles and many more.
The second stage is feeling, it is related to the thoughts and feeling of a person while
completing their course and learning process. I was low, demotivated and nervousness during the
staring of course as I did not know much about how I adjust in new environment and develop my
understand about various management topics. There are also various people who came from

different culture, background and stream as well as their nature is different. So, I found many
difficulties to gain understanding about people and concepts. But I develop my understanding
and skills at mid of course with help of teacher. At third stage of evaluation, it know about my
good and bad areas by taking feedbacks from teachers related to my performance and behaviour
such as I am good at time management and my leadership skills is also good which helps me to
complete my summative assessment in a team effectively. But there are various weaknesses in
me which hinder my performance in current and future also. I need to develop various skills such
as communication skills and critical thinking skills which is essential for me to perform a job
role as a manager (Burgoyne and Chuppa-Cornell, 2018). At fourth stage of analysis, it has been
analysed by me that I need to take quick action to improve these skills in order to get good
grades in higher studies and formative assessments.
At the stage of conclusion, it has been concluded that by using feedforward and feedback
from teacher and other students I can improve my skills in less time to get better job
opportunities in future in an reputed organisation. At last stage of action plan, I take guidance
from teachers in form of feedforward to improve my skills, performance and productivity. Such
as I will improve my skills by participating in many debate competitions, interacting with
people , friends (Clarke, 2021). Along with by conducting daily practising and following proper
direction given by teacher to complete a task effectively . It will improve skills with in less time
with proper discipline and dedication.
Feedbacks and feedforwards are terms which a teacher as well as managers use to give
their response on the performance of students and employees. Feedback refers to the evaluation
of performance and share reviews to the person directly so they will correct it improve their
performance in future (Bass, Sidebotham and Sweet, 2020). It helps a person to know about what
they were done is correct or not. It is a reaction of a person on other's performance, behaviour
and action which they share in oral , written and other form. Feedback is given on the past or
current performance of a person whereas feedforward is related with guidance for future work or
improvement. It is very important for me as a learner to take feedbacks from teachers about my
work for further improvement. It helps to improve my confidence and motivates me to perform a

task in effective manner. Feedback provide information to employees and learners related to how
they are performing currently. Whereas, feedforward has been determine as the process of
replacing negative and positive feedback with the specific future solutions. It is a direction and
guidance given by a person on the basis of feedback as how they can perform a task in better
way. It is given in the form of future oriented solutions and options. It helps a learner to plan
their work or project in effective manner by using time and resources optimally. It is a pathway
which a teacher communicate to students for completing a project in specific manner. The Gibbs
models use by me in reflection in order to take feedbacks and feedforward to complete my
learning process related to management effectively (Yu and Liu, 2021). At the stage of
evaluation, I asked to teacher about my performance and gave me feedback related to my
actions, behaviour and working in class by giving me grades. They gave me feedback that I need
to improve my various skills such as communication which helps me in my professional career.
At the stage of conclusion and action plan they further gave me feedforward and guidance as
how can I improve these skills in future to complete my assessment effectively.
It has been determined that feedbacks plays most important part in a learner life as it
helps them to improve their performance and skills for future development. It is very helpful for
students to increase their understanding, skills, actions and behaviour and engagement to perform
their tasks related to particular topic (Ion, Sánchez Martí and Agud Morell, 2019). It helps a
learner to improve their skills such as communication and critical thinking skills so they
complete their formative and summative assessment effectively. Feed forward helps a learner to
use guidance given by teacher to complete a task without repeating same mistakes again to get
good grades in their formative assessment. By using feedforward and feedback a teacher can
inform a students about their performance and what they must do for future improvement.
Feedbacks helps them to know about their good areas and area for improvement which they can
develop by reading books, daily practising and many more (Suganthan and Katuwal, 2021).
Feedforward helps them to get proper insights and knowledge about their interest and future
career along with it enable them to perform their task to complete their summative assessment in
effective manner.

CONCLUSION
From the above presented information, it has been concluded that reflective learning
helps a student and learner to know about their performance, skills, strengths and weaknesses.
Reflection enable a learner to develop their understanding and knowledge about various topics
which helps them to perform a specific job role effectively. By using Gibbs reflective model they
can easily evaluate their past experiences and develop perfect judgement about their learning
process. It also helps a person to develop clear insight about their strengths which they can use in
their future career. Along with the area for improvement which they needed to develop for future
development. By taking feedbacks from teachers and manager a person can improve their self-
awareness and use it for further improvement. Feedforward also helps a person to get proper
guidance and direction in order to perform a task in effective and efficient manner. It also help a
students to complete their assessment perfectly by following proper instruction in order to get
good grades and knowledge.
