Introduction
This report aims to provide a detailed insight into reflective learning. Reflective learning is
highly crucial for enabling a learner in gaining the ability to reflect on his or her own learning,
which will be of higher assistance in enabling him or her in identifying what needs to be done in
the future (Anderson et al., 2015). In this report, the potential benefits of my experience will be
explained. I have taken resort to lectures in order to be able to identify as well as analyze the
aspects, which need to be considered while making decisions. The lectures will of assistance
since it will be enabling me in gaining decision making skills. Several reasons, for which
attending lectures as well as field trips is highly crucial will be discussed in a broader way. The
experiences, which have been gained, will be further explained through the application of
Gibbs\’s Model of Reflective cycle. Gibbs Reflective Cycle assists one in learning from the
experiences, which have been gained. In accordance with the Gibbs Reflective Cycle, it is highly
imperative of one to reflect on their own experience, since until and unless one starts thinking
about what to do next, one will not be able to learn anything. Moreover, the challenges, which I
have faced, will be discussed in a detailed way as well. Furthermore, my experience will also be
evaluated as well. At the end of the reflective report, an action plan will also be provided.

Benefits of attending the lectures and the field trips
I have enrolled myself into attending lectures in order to gain an in-depth knowledge into the
aspects of decision making. I have taken resort to lectures in order to be able to identify as well
as analyze the aspects, which need to be considered while making decisions. Besides, the
lectures will also help me in the near future when I will be assigned to the job role of the
manager of a reputed firm. Several reasons may be cited as related to the primary question,
which is “why are decision making skills so important?’” However, the principal reason behind
the enrollment of my course is to imbibe the ability of making a quick as well as effective
decision, which will form a crucial part of my role. Irrespective of the designation, which I will
be designated with in my professional life, I will need to develop the ability of making quick as

well as effective decision (Hall and Ivaldi, 2017). The lectures have assisted in being confident
for making decisions. Besides, it has also helped in analyzing the aspects, which will assist me in
taking highly effective decisions. Along with attending the lectures, I had to participate in the
field work as well in order to collect data. The lectures have really assisted me in learning about
various crucial aspects, which will assist me in the near future. From attending the lectures, I
have come across several new perspectives on the provided materials apart from the text books
(Eisen et al., 2015). The lectures have always added something new to the materials, which I
have assigned with. Besides, several examples have been given by the lecturers, which have been
presented in a distinctive way, which have further elaborated the topic. Moreover, the lectures
have also enabled me in gaining new insights, which have further assisted me in gaining a
detailed insight into the subject matter.
Secondly, the lectures have further enabled me in developing critical thinking skills. In most of
the lectures, which I have attended before, several questions have been asked by the professors,
which could not be answered by taking the assistance of the sources, which we have been
provided with. Answering the questions demanded active thinking, which is highly critical in
order to sustain in the highly competitive professional world (Edwards and Clinton, 2019).
Hence, attending the lectures have enabled me in imbibing critical thinking skills, which will
help me in taking effective decisions in the future. While working in a firm, I may across several
scenarios, for which, I will have to think about several effective decisions, for which critical
thinking skills will be required. Furthermore, in the lectures, various important concepts have
been emphasized by the professors, which have further me in gaining better ideas related to what
is crucial and what is not. This has also enabled me in gaining me in gaining the understanding
related what should be focused on. Moreover by attending the lectures, I gave been able to being
more interactive since during the lectures, I was able to have interactive sessions with the
professors as well as with my class mates. This will further help me in developing the ability to
engage in the interactive sessions in the future since during my employment, I may have to
engage in several interactive session, for which, this seems to be helpful (Groen et al., 2016).
Attending the lectures has further enabled me in gaining the ability of jotting down important
points. Gaining the ability is highly crucial since in the future when I will be employed in a
reputed firm, I will have to take part in various crucial meetings, in which, I need to take down

several important points, which will be beneficial for the development of the project (Nordman
et al., 2019). Hence, gaining the ability of taking down important points that too quickly will
definitely assist me in my future. Furthermore, the lectures have also helped me in imbibing
effective presentation skills. In various lectures, the students have been assigned with the task of
giving presentations on several crucial topics. Those frequent presentation sessions have assisted
me in developing the ability of giving excellent presentations. Several instances will be there
during my employment period when I will have to give presentations on project in front of my
seniors in several meeting (McLaren and Kenny, 2015). Hence, this has enabled me in gaining
ability of giving effective presentations, which has further assisted me in gaining self confidence,
which is highly crucial.
The professors as well as my class mates have been really helpful and supportive, which has
encouraged me in working hard for the projects, which I have been assigned with. Furthermore, I
had to attend several field trips where I had to survey several respondents in order to develop my
project. The field trips have assisted me in gaining an insight related to which aspects should be
focused on as well as questions, which should not be focused on. The field trips have further
assisted me in gaining the ability of focusing on the critical aspects, which should be focused on.
The field trips have further helped me in gaining an in-depth insight into the project, which I
have been working on.

According to the opinion of Husebø et al., (2015), Gibbs Reflective Cycle assists one in learning
from the experiences, which have been gained. In accordance with the Gibbs Reflective Cycle, it
is highly imperative of one to reflect on their own experience, since until and unless one starts
thinking about what to do next, one will not be able to learn anything. By applying the model of
learning from the experiences, I will be able to reflect on my own learning and making the most
of the situations which I will face in the future during my employment period.
Step 1: Description
The model helps in understanding the situation. For instance, this has helped me in
understanding when as well as where the different types of situation may arise. Besides, this has
also help med in understanding the situation in a detailed way as well as the consequences of the
situation. For instance, during my group assignments, we were able to submit the assignment
within time by analyzing how to work during the absence of few members.

Step 2: Feelings
The reflective model helps in exploring the feelings of the learners (Husebø et al., 2015). For
instance, while working on the group assignments, at one point of time, it was recognized that
the assignment will not be presented in a perfect way, which was why I became frustrated
resulting in my partners cancel their plans. These in turn made me feel guilty, which however
motivated me in working harder.
Step 3: Evaluation
I developed the ability of identifying the plus points as well as loopholes of my project. These
further helped me in working on the loopholes and submit a perfect assignment within the
deadline.

While working on my assignment, I was able to gain the capability of analyzing which
approaches, which will be effective for forming a perfect presentation.

I gained the ability of finding out the important aspects of the situations and what else could have

Challenges, which have been faced during the sessions
The lectures as well as the field trips have been quite helpful. However, I had to face several
challenges since few of the professors failed to provide proper assistance. Moreover, there were
few of my classmates who were not that helpful and refused to provide me with the notes, which
I failed to take since I was absent. Moreover, there were several respondents who were not that
cooperative during the field trip.

Conclusion
It can be conclude from the above discussion that attending the lectures has also helped in
analyzing the aspects, which will assist me in taking highly effective decisions. Along with
attending the lectures, I had to participate in the field work as well in order to collect data. The
