How I learnt paraphrasing
Paraphrasing is a skill of writing by using a text from the original document without copying
the source writing. There are various steps of learning paraphrasing. They are:
1. Avoiding plagiarism – While paraphrasing I must be aware of the things of the
sentences are not been copied from any other file or website. I had to understand the
part which I read and modify it in my own words.
2. Using models – While paraphrasing I used to see the type of format while discussing
the article. So that I can ensure that the comprehension was correct.
3. Explaining the steps of paraphrasing – First I had to look at the original paper and
read it line by line and then transformed into a paraphrase.
4. Practice – For getting the fluency in writing I had to practice more and more times. At
first I had to do the paraphrasing of the individual sentences and then working on the
short paragraphs.
How I learnt APA referencing
The teacher firstly taught how to write the APA referencing. I learn it by dividing it into
sections.
 Firstly I learned how to create the hanging format.
 Then I search the internet for the citations and by following the format I learned to
write the references in which I added the name of the author, year of publication,
article name, journal name, volume and page number.
 Then I learnt to write the in-text citations, in this I learn that in-text citations are
written throughout the paper as a proof of relevancy. In the citations I had to write the
name of the author, year and page number where necessary.
