Part a) Advice
Privacy on social media
Role of influences?
Social media is one of the most popular platforms that is being used by people in the modern-
day scenario. This is mainly because social media has helped people to stay in connection with
many people irrespective of the geographical barriers of socio-cultural barriers. Dyson et al.
2016) think that social media is helpful in Globalization or Internationalization. It is because of
this reason that social media platforms like Facebook, integral, twitter and others have helped
people to make new friends and also to understand the thoughts and mindsets of people living in
different parts of the world.
I realized that the views and opinions of all the people present at the seminar were slowly
becoming divergent that is there was no particular best solution to this issue. However, all the
teenagers and their parents had to be made aware of the rising concerns of excessive social media
usage, so that they could get to several solutions at the end.
Kid playing idea game dies
MOMO game that was present a few days back is a prominent example of how kids died by
committing suicide through a simple gaming application. This is a horror game that provoked the
tens to commit suicide and they could not even.

Psychological effects
Playing video games or computer games at a large for a long time without any break is one of the
deadliest aspects that is leading to the death of so many teenagers. Such a tragic incident
happened in the town of Uchaly in the southern Russia's Republic of Bashkortostan. The 17-
year-old Rustam was found dead in his room. The supposed cause of his death was spending
about 2000 hours playing the game Defence of the Ancients (Mccrum 2015).
Personal feelings’evidence
I feel that on one hand social media is helping in overcoming the boundaries but one the other
end it is also having some harmful influences on the children. This was evident during the
seminar from the discussions of all the members. Each member was asked to narrate one positive
and one negative experience of their lives connected to social media usage.
I participated in the same. One of my experiences was during my last college semesters. I was a
regular user of Facebook. However, I could not notice when this became my addiction and I
could never stop or control myself. I always kept on logging in to the Facebook account to see
all the things that are being posted and I felt lonely all alone. I was often asked by my parents to
concentrate on studies as the exams were approaching but I used to feel lonely and also restless if
I did nit scroll my Facebook news feed. However, I was usually a bit healthy and I never had a
problem with it. However, during that time, I noticed many girls posting their pictures in their
Facebook accounts where they were all decked up in beautiful dresses and makeup and also had
a nice well-trimmed shape. These posts were appreciated by the boys of my class and also by
many other users on Facebook. This had a very bad impact on me and I felt that I look ugly.
Therefore there was a desperate attempt within me to somehow appear like those girls in the

posts and to lose my body weight. However, I started skipping meals and also wasted time in
learning makeup tutorials. This made me weak and I fell ill before my exams and could not take
my exams as well. This not only made me lose a year but also had a very bad impact on my
health and mental well being. My parents took me to the doctors and I was diagnosed with the
Imposter Syndrome. Imposter syndrome is a certain medical condition where, a one get older and
acquire more mastery, begin to realize that they actually are good at some things, and then they
feel that gap hopefully narrow. But imagine having the deepest darkest fear is that they aren’t as
good as they look, and then imagine needing to look that good all the time. (Sarr and Behrns
2019). This is what happened to me. I started thinking that I do not look good enough or pretty
enough that I want to look like.
How are companies tacking this
Different approaches are being taken by these companies like Facebook, YouTube and others to
be able to track the terrorist attacks. This is evident from the inclusion of a new project like Tech
Against Terrorism project, by YouTube. I feel that this is a good start that will be helping the
companies to be able to work uninterruptedly without getting any interruptions from the
Government or the public in general. However, I would also like to put forward the argument
that
The deadly attack on two mosques in Christchurch, New Zealand, in which 50 people were
killed and many others critically injured was duly telecasted on Facebook by the man himself
who is in charge of carrying it out (Vidgen 2020).
Therefore this proves that social media platforms have not been able to take proper measures that
will be helping them to safeguard their users (Whiteside et al. 2018). Spreading such terrorism

clips or hateful content via social media sites is one of the major threats or negative impacts of
social media (He, Rui and Whinston 2018). It was also discussed in the seminar that parents must
always try to develop a horizontal and proper friendly connection with their children so that they
can get knowledge of their kid’s experiences online. This will enable them to provide the needed
psychological support to all the children or the teenagers when they become the victims of
cyberbullying or are badly impacted by viewing these hateful content or violent acts.
Creating a catalyst for radical groups terrorism
As teenagers are addicted to social media platforms, this is one of the catalysts for terrorists to
spread fear or to mislead the young generation. Incels a hatred group of female hating men is
highly active on social media. Their main motive is to spread terrorism against females so that
they can kill them (Ging 2019).
Short Reflection
I feel that this seminar had been very useful to me. I have realized that there are both advantages
and disadvantages to using social media. In the modern-day scenario, one has to be very careful
about the sites that they visit. I have gained knowledge about many hate speech of violent acts
that are purposely uploaded by a few infamous and notorious groups online that causes fear and
spreads terrorism. For now on, I will not let myself fall into these traps. I will also try to attain

medical sessions regularly so that I can get rid of my imposter syndrome and also get over with
the addiction behavior.
In the future, I will try to join the network security department so that I can formulate new
methods of solving these issues and also help children deal with issues like cyberbullying. I have
also been able to narrate my own experience and learned that if the right measures are taken at
the right time, these mishaps can be checked.
Part b) Advice
Sustainable development refers to the different practices undertaken by the organizations to take
care of the community and the environment. I have been able to learn from the seminar that it is
important for the companies because they can use their resources in a controlled manner and also
protect them. This is very useful because they will be able to use their resources properly and
also ensure that they can support the poor and needy sections of the community and satisfy their
needs like poverty.
As per my perception, the best part of the seminar was to see that they have been able to give
different examples to clarify the concept. Wellington Factory chocolate or WFC is one of the
most well know factory outlet in New Zealand that produces chocolates. However, they have
developed the first bean to factory outlets so that they can give proper facility and remuneration
to their employees. This is a good initiative that has been taken by the organization to ensure that
there is a proper generation of job or employment opportunities for the local people. This is
useful for the maintenance of CSR initiatives because this helped in reducing poverty among
people and they will also be able to use this money for getting a proper standard of living for
themselves (Ondrak 2019). On the other hand, learning about Agri farming has also been one of

the most essential aspects for the companies to ensure that they are maintaining sustainable
practices. To ensure these companies are trying their best to use locally grown products like
locally grown fruits and vegetables so that they can get the best quality products for their
customers (Bendell 2017).
BBC Earth
It is one of the well-known companies of the U.S that have been able to ensure that there is no
compromise with their environmental sustainability; they are trying their best to reduce their
carbon footprint. They have launched a sustainable brand of evening wear that will be able to
make customers aware of the different ways in which they can overcome pollution (Weaver et al.
2017).
I have been able to learn many new aspects about these industries and have been impressed to
know how they can help in making their individual small but significant contribution towards
marinating the sustainability of earth and also in making sure that they can make people aware
about the same.
I think that this seminar has been helpful as it touched almost all the different aspects of CSR.
However, as per my perception, practical works or undertaking practical projects and
assignments are essential on part of students so that they can get their ideas clear. This can be
done by planning some industrial visits or tours so that we can see and gets hands-on experiences
on how the company is trying to fulfill the CSR activities. In my future years, I will always try to
use these learning and ensure that I can suggest new and innovative ways of how to reduce and
reuse the natural products to make sure that I can reduce the pollution levels of the atmosphere
and also make some positive contributions.
