Executive summary
The research question associated with this report lies in the analysis of my personal
development themes that the potential affect of the same on other staff members. For the
execution of this report, a four-phased segmented approach has been taken into consideration.
Six themes have been discussed in this report coupled with the integration of the Kolb
reflecting cycle with the same. A comparative analysis has been provided between the
identified themes and the key performance indicators that modulate the performance of an
individual in the health and social care segment. The report is concluded with the reasons for
the positive influence of professional and personal reflection on the enhancement of the
performance of an individual.

Introduction
A modern approach to a personal career is characterized by regular evaluation of one's
performance by an external person or by self. The aim of this report lies in the analysis of the
reflective practice that had been undertaken by me. The scope of this report lies in the
understanding of the support that personal reflection provides in the segment of personal
progression and career development.
A six-based themed approach that was used by me for a personal reflection in a professional
domain would be used in this segment.
LO1: Reflection of health and social care practice
Purpose of reflection in social and health care
The main purpose of the conduction of the reflection in the social and health care practices is
the improvement of the existing practices while challenging one to develop the efficiency of
practice (Britland, 2017). Additionally, in the segment of social care, the purpose of
reflection includes the following:
Identify the effectiveness of the communication techniques that I have acquired
during the tenure of my service to the social cause
Implement the identified attributes to render social care practices in an enhanced and
less time-consuming form per user (DeLancey and Oreo, 2018)
In the segment of health care, the main purpose of reflection includes the following:
Develop the current health care practices and module the delivery mode of the same
using the modern aspect of data analysis (Bass et al., 2017)
Identify the potential demand of the health care in the event of any natural disaster or
onset of a season and integrate the same with the relevant regulations regarding health
care practice to develop a personal standard operating procedure for the same
Models and tools used for reflection regarding health and social care
In the segment of the model, the Kolb model of experimental learning would be taken into
account.

Figure 1: Kolb reflective cycle
(Source: Mcleod, 2019)
The above figure represents the Kolb reflective cycle. In the segment of concrete experience,
the staff could use the previous experience in the social and health care to develop a personal
framework base on the six themes that I have included. In the segment of reflective
observation, the staff could use the theme of the promotion of diversity coupled with the
development of the mental health among the patients as well as the professionals (Murphy,
2017). Similarly, in the segment of abstract conceptualization and active experimentation, the
staff could follow the observed shortfalls and use personal reflective methods to overcome
the same. This would enhance the productivity and efficiency of the staff in the same line of
my success.
In the segment of the reflection tools, index cards would be taken into consideration. Each of
the staff should keep a personal record of breaks and personal attributes in their index cards.
This would enable each of them to identify the variations in their working profile and among

other staff, which would result in the optimization of the practices undertaken by each of the
staff.
LO2: Practice themes as reflection framework
Use of practice themes to underpin reflection
The first theme of regulations and ethical practice would complement the professional
reflection of adhering to ethics in health and social care. This would increase the efficiency of
staff and clearly identify situations in which they will act as helpers and controllers (IASSW,
2019). Based on the theme of professional values that would be independent of each other,
reflection based on it would enable the staff to identify those values that might hinder the
ethical frameworks of an individual. Similarly, in the segment of the safety in health, the
theme would complement the reflection in the domain of personal safety and client safety in
using any social or health care packages. In the segment of the value promotion, the theme in
the case of other staff would promote diversity acceptance for the same. Based on the theme
of the promotion of mental health, reflections would be justified based on the development of
self-positive mental health that would complement the will to serve others. However, in the
segment of applied mathematics, statistical models such as regression analysis and data
analysis would lead the identification of the nature of the demand by the clients and the
difference of the service being provided to them on a personal front (Amalric and Dehaene,
2016).
Relationship between practical themes and performance indicators
The relationship between practical themes and performance indicators are as follows:
6
Document Page
Figure 2: KPIs in health and social care
(Source: Scott, 2015)
The first three themes result in the adherence to the dignitary, privacy and choice standards.
This would be because the regulations mitigate privacy concerns, professional values adhere
to a dignified profession while the health safety enables extensive adherence to the multiple
choices that are available to the customer as wells the service provider. Similarly, the last
three themes compliment the safety, diversity and the potential of staff. This would be
because the tools associated with applied mathematics would be used to identify the safety
and the diversity among the staff for developing efficiencies.
LO3: Analysis of learning experiences
Methods of gaining evidence of reflective practice
For gaining pieces of evidence for reflective practices, the following methods could be taken
into consideration:
Analysis of peer groups coupled with co-operative inquiries- In this method, the
major attributes would be in the development of handouts and primary questionnaires
to get peer-reviewed feedback (Novakovich, 2016). This would enable the mitigation
of the difference that exists among peers. Hence, the overall efficiency of the practice
would increase.
First person inquiry- This would include a non-formal conversation with the care
users and their reflective comments regarding the performance of the self. This would
enable the identification of the difference in the current mode of practice and the
practical demand from the users in the modern and connected world.

Observed by trainers and professionals during the vocational training
coupled with marking during regular course work and professional
endeavours in weekly meetings.
Record keeping All relevant data has been recorded by using MS Access, which is a
small-scale database. Additionally, any financial data relative to
placement has been using Microsoft Excel to conduct a quantitative
analysis using a pivot table.

This includes extensive use of translation software to conduct
communication with a user on the native language of their preference.

LO4: Assessment of own reflective journey
Review of evidence gathered in self-portfolio
The evidence gathered in the self-portfolio would provide two major positive aspects for me.
This would include the following:
The gathered pieces of evidence would enable the development of the self-learning
mechanisms to alleviate self-performance
The gathered evidence would result in the identification of high-quality
communication techniques that could promote diversity and mental health among
social and health care acceptors.
However, one of the major limitations in the gathered pieces of evidence would be that poor
analytical processes would be associated as most of the modern extrinsic applied
mathematical functions are absent in both Microsoft Access and Microsoft Excel.
Targets for the development of self-career pathway
In a self-career pathway, based on the mentioned themes, six targets would be taken into
consideration for my career. This would be in the order of the following:

Conclusion
Post the development of the attributes associated with personal reflection, it could be
concluded that a personal reflection by an individual result in the development of the
professional attributes of the same. This would be because; a personal and professional
reflection enables the identification of those attributes that have scope for improvement.
Adherence and mitigation of the issues would enable an individual to increase the
professional efficiency as well as effectiveness in the social and health care segment.
Additionally, in the domain of the aged care, this development would enable the probability
of the development of a transformational leader to effectively share the knowledge and
experience gained with other staff members or with the juniors.
