Part A:
After completion of the week 6 and week 7 session, I have learned several new aspects of
the project scope, time as well as cost management. In week 6, I have learned about the project
schedule management PERT. PERT stands for the program evaluation and review technique.
During the week 6 session I have gained knowledge about the review technique that PERT has
been introduced into the year 1950. Along with this PERT is also one of the most effective
critical path technique thus, this method is very much similar to the application of CPM. During
the session, the lecturer has effectively discussed the concept of PERT, from which it is noticed
that PERT is used to determine the duration of an activity by relating it with the large variables.
This session has also helped me to gain a piece of detailed knowledge about the determination
process of the expected project duration.
Followed by this elaboration the lecturer has also helped me to gain detailed knowledge
about the limitations of PERT technique which includes the complexity of this technique as well
as it is noticed that PERT is very much effective in large projects. Along with this information,
the lectures have also helped me to understand the effectiveness as well as the application of
these techniques by explaining several examples to me. From these elaborations, I have learned
that PERT can be used in large project management processes with the purpose to determine the
time and schedule of the project activities. Hence, it can be stated that this session has
significantly helped me to gain detailed knowledge about project scheduling and time
management which will be very must beneficial for my future project management activities.
After gaining the above knowledge in week 6, in week 7 the lecturer has taught me about
the project resource planning, scheduling as well as resource optimization. However, before
starting the new topic the tutor has discussed the previous topics which have helped me to recall

all of the learned topics. Along with these discussions in this session, several types of project
constraints have been elaborated. Followed by these the problems of resource optimization are
also discussed in this session. After completing the 7th-week session I have learned that
scheduling resources are one of the most essential parts of project management, however, there
are several limitations with project resources. Those limitations include the lack of project
resources, less effective cost estimation as well as several other aspects. Along with these
identifications, I have learned that in order to mitigate these threats the resource scheduling is
very essential as this would help to maintain the availability of the project resources, it will help
to identify the necessity of the project resources. Apart from these identifications, it has a direct
impact on the project time and cost estimation process.
Now after completing this session it can be stated that it has majorly helped me in gaining
more knowledge in resource scheduling which will surely assist me in my future project
management process.
