Introduction
To operate a business successfully there is need to have proper understanding and
knowledge as it supports to manage the all functions and activities. Business issues are the major
problem which occurs at the time of managing the functions and activities as it brings lots of data
regarding competition and changing customer demand. It has been seen that environment is not
stable where customers demand for new products and services that can help to fill their need and
provide satisfaction. This is important for each business organization to identify the issues which
are pertaining in the industry and suggest optimum solution that can help to solve the problems.
For this report considered issue is adapting new technology, that arises due to changing needs of
customers where it became important to introduce innovation and services that can help to
resolve the problems. Selected company for the report is Tesco Plc has been selected that is
multinational company of retail believes in maintaining the loyal customer relationships with
their people. The report highlights the business issue and how the industry is responding to
positively and negatively.
What the business issue is and how businesses are reacting
In environment to business, adapting new technology is the major issue for business
organizations as there is uncertainties in market where it became important to introduce the new
technology and advancement that supported to grow the business. The uncertainties are changing
environment, changing needs and wants of people, climate fluctuation, occurrence of pandemic
and increasing tendency that have created the challenge for organization to regulate their
business (Paltridge, 2020). The adapting new technology is said to be appearance of new
products and services with new experience that support to develop the organizational
performance and productivity. The management plays an important role at the workplace as it
identifies the market and put efforts to introduce the products by using new technology.
Technology is the accumulation of application of skills and knowledge which are used by an
individual for the purpose of increasing the organizational productivity and profitability. For
example, needs of customers has been changed in Covid period where it became important for
industry to introduce the new technology and changes that can help to regulate the business by

reaching to the targeted customers (Saeed, and et.al., 2021). If there is less focus in environment
then could be challenging to attract the number of people and getting work done. The technology
embedded in the operations of business industry where different types of products and services
are introduced to managing the functions In relation to Tesco Plc, management analysis that due
to Pandemic sales of organization has been reduced as government declared the lockdown. In
this period, by concerning the issue management make the use of new technology that can help
to provide a facility of selection of products and services via online method that support to run
the business (Challenges faced by company in adopting new technology. 2022).
Lack of understanding and knowledge – This is good for individual to update their
existing knowledge and skills into new features but it contains time and money to do. This is
then major challenge facing by companies that their employees are not prepare to adopt the new
technology and services that affect the organizational productivity. In context to Tesco Plc,
employees having lack of understanding and knowledge regarding application of new technology
that directly affected the productivity (Issaoui, Khiat, Bahnasse, and Ouajji, 2019).
Lack of retaining power in organization – It has been seen that employees are leaving
the organization due to changing environment and lack of motivation that pressures staff to
switch the organization. This is another challenge faced by companies while operation and
offering the products in changing environment. Moreover, employees are leaving the
organization due to shifting their homes and introducing new working method that has created
the challenge to run business. In relation to Tesco Plc, due to the pandemic and application of
new technology existing employees feel uncomfortable to work that has created the challenge to
regulate the business. Managers of a company have identified that there is vacancy which needs
to be fill by using new technology such as recruitment channel that can help to operate the
business effectively. Some employees working with traditional method which has created the
challenge and affected the productivity negatively.
Increasing of cost and time – Due to changing environment and use application of new
technology companies focuses on automation and new technology that is needed to manage the
business functions. This is important for each business organization to analysis the environment
and comes to know what is happening around the introduce the services. In relation to Tesco Plc,
managers faced the issue of increasing cost and time consuming as company introduces robotics

services via using technology that directly affects the business productivity in case of failure
(Meade, 2021).
Businesses are reacting towards issue of application of new technology that have
impacted positively within Tesco Plc that are defined below:
To increase the customer base – Customers are important to organization where it
became important to introduce the products by reaching to potential customers. In relation to
Tesco Plc, managers get the benefits of increasing customer base by using new technology as it
reaches to targeted customers and encouraged the organizational sales (Vandermeulen,
Meulemans, Paesen, and Limpo, 2022).
Retaining people and get work done – To resolve the issue of vacant position use of
new technology became an good source that explains number of platform to analysis the skills
and abilities to work then select the right people who gets ready to accept the challenges and new
technology.
Use of robotics delivery – Due to Covud-19 people became able to place the o9rder
online and receive products at their door step. New technology is adopted by Tesco Plc in order
to sale their products by using marketing channel and robotics delivery that increases
performance.
Conclusion and recommendation
From the presented discussion it has concluded that use of new technology is major issue
faced by businesses in real world scenario. As environment is changing where it became
important to introduce the new technology and services for the purpose of reaching to targeted
customers and increase productivity. To resolve the issues there is need to have effective
planning and skills that support to introduce the new products and services results in increase
organizational performance as well as productivity.
For the purpose of responding business issue it is recommended to Tesco Plc, to provide
the training to their employees, make the use of new technology and innovation that can help to
run the business and increase the productivity.

a. What is learnt from the module
In the module of “Academic Research and Writing”, it is learnt by me to while carrying
out the business activities there is need to analysis the dynamic environment as it helps to know
what people wants and how to develop the skills and abilities. The purpose of this module is to
know about application of technology and conducting research, reading and writing the topic in
academic manner that improves professional life. I also have learnt that in using new technology
there is need to provide training to staff. Moreover, I have learnt regarding various kind of
referencing systems such as Harvard referencing and hence forth. This also provide
understanding that how each individual should use the new technology and innovation at their
workplace that could help to accomplish the personal and professional goals (Khalaf, and et.al.,
2020). During the current project, I tend to learn about the Harvard referencing system that
comprises of an author/date method. Further, with the Harvard referencing system the sources
are cited within the body of the assignment by giving the name of the author(s) followed by the
date of publication. All other details about the publication are given in the list of references or
bibliography at the end.
b. Why the learning may be important
Learning in the module of Academic Research and Writing is important for me as it
provided me understanding regarding about real happening in business world. My learning about
application of new technology and referencing system might be good for me as it helps to
develop the huge number of ideas and support to complete the project in certain period of time. It
was analysed by me that I will be awarded by my senior as per my knowledge that reflects to
correct the information and make it useful. This also helps to manage the all functions and
activities effectively. Through reading this module I would be able to resolve my all issues and
problems. Beside this, it has been also seen that the Continuous learning also helps us to keep
pursuing our personal and professional development goals, and all the achievements along the
way are a great source of happiness for many of us. It also helps us keep boredom at bay, which
is another way of increasing the overall level of our happiness.

c. How is the learning to be used in future studies along with development plans
The skills and learning which I gained through academic module that can be used to
resolve the issues and managing the work. I will use the media, textbooks, and interpersonal
skills by managing all information. My learning about use of new technology will provide me
opportunity to beginning and run the business in changing environment. This will provide me
understanding regarding range of referencing style that support to develop the opportunities.
Moreover, Harvard referencing system will help me to know view according to different author
and make clear text that support to develop the performance (Fauziah, and et.al., 2020). This
could help to reach the targeted customers and develop business productivity.
