Reflective Report: ICT & Academic Skills for HSC Aspirational Goals

This report reflects on the development of ICT and academic skills and their importance in achieving Health and Social Care (HSC) aspirational goals. It details the learner's introduction, HSC goals related to qualitative healthcare services, and the role of academic and ICT skills in decision-making, data analysis, and patient care. The reflection utilizes Gibbs' reflective cycle, describing experiences, feelings, evaluation, analysis, and conclusions from a group study on healthcare projects. The report highlights improvements in teamwork, communication, problem-solving, and confidence. An action plan outlines strategies for further enhancing these skills through group discussions and debates. Specific academic skills such as time management, research, and critical thinking, along with ICT skills like internet usage and digital communication, are discussed with examples of how they were demonstrated during the project.

1.1 Learner introduction and summary of HSC aspirational goals and how
development of Academic and ICT skills will help this process
To provide the qualitative services to health care service user.
To encourage the healthy living for the service user to facilitate the prevention from threats.
To follow the provisions of emergency care and ethical services to implement safer
environment for the service users.
Thus these are the goals of the HSC to provide the better care treatment services to their
patients. Academic skills play an important role in achieving the objective of the task. As
academic skills help me a lot in health care project such as decision making, goals setting
activities for the patient. ICT skills helps in analysing or retrieving the data, thus with this
easy data can be available to physicians so that medical requirements can be fulfilled
(Hindrasti, 2020). It is found that In health care services it is important to understand the
case of the patient as to deliver them suitable treatment so that they can recover fast. For
such Academic skills as goals setting helps me to understand the situation of the patient
which helps in process to identifying the goals, as the accomplishment of these goals
declares as successful completion of the treatment.
With the help of academic skills i am able to make the effective decision, as
academic skills helps in practicing all the preventive measures so that client’s case can be
easily solved. Thus also with the help of the ICT skills as monitoring the patient
performance, diagnosis, medication prescription, with this in health care smooth process
will easily carried out. Thus both skills helps in completing the HSC goals efficiently as both
provides guidance to complete any complex task in a productive manner. With these skills I
was also able to analyse the threats and consequences so that effective measures or
strategies can be used to avoid or mitigate any risk.
Reflections on development of skills (with reference to reflective theory)
Before starting the module, I was very nervous because I never been familiar to such
terms and processes. But my professor and colleagues helps me a lot to develop interest in
fields. I developed team work, effective communication skills in throughout the learning

phase I also adapt the decision making, problem solving skills which is also beneficial for my
entire academic process as well as for my career.
Gibbs’ reflective cycle:
It is the reflective model which provide the structure so that learning can be done
form the experiences. It gives the frameworks that helps in examining the experiences.
From this model I will be able to develop my knowledge and to learn from the mistakes so
that I will not repeat the same mistakes (Oviawe, 2020).
Description: It involves the description about the experience, for me before starting the
group study on health care projects tutor divides us in a three members team. Me and my
team members have decided to divide our work so it will help in increasing the knowledge.
With this I was able to develop the researching skills and team work skills which helps me a
lot.
Feelings: Before starting the project I was so nervous because I always used to be a
introvert person. Also during the project all team members were quite nervous because it is
our first time to do such things. But with the help teacher’s motivation and team spirit helps
us in completing the project in efficient manner.
Evaluation: During project one of the team member did mistake as they repeat the same
work which other already had done, but with the support of the tutor to give us one more
day to complete the project gave us a lot of relief at that time (Sicora, 2019).
Analysis: Our complete strategy to start the project as to done urgent work earlier which
went so well and also with this we will be able to learn how to organise the work according
to the priority. Also academic skills help me a lot to find the solution for the problems which
I have encountered during the project work.
Conclusion: Working on this module helps me a lot to learn the new skills and knowledge.
Overall experience was good I never imagined that I would be able to complete the project
but with the help of tutor’s feedback and suggestion and knowledge shared by the team
members helps me a lot to complete the project (Sum, Dimitropoulos and Kurik, 2020). I
also develop confidence to complete such projects in future.
Action Plan: For me it is important for further plans the strategies to develop or enhance
the knowledge and skills which is good for my career. In this project I learn communication
skills to interact with the team members, as for future I am planning to take part in group
discussions and in debates which helps me in conveying or delivering my message
effectively (Víquez Fernández, 2021).
