Management, People and Teams

Introduction
Self-awareness is the key of identifying our own personality and helps people to assess the
self-weakness and strength (Andersen, 2016). As a student of management, I feel that self-
awareness not only help me to overcome my weakness rather it also helps me to grow and
achieve my personal milestones. This report reflects my personal abilities and skills to
motivate and guide people in an organisation and guide them towards the organisational goals
and objectives.
Self-awareness and its role in organisation
In any nature of organisation, it is really difficult for a person to establish and manage a good
relationship with employees (Caldwell and Hayes, 2016). As I closely observed in my
previous organisation that communication and personality of a manager play an important
role in guide people and motivate them towards the organisational goals. However, it is really
important for an organisational manager to assess their own skills and strength and I analyse
my personality and skills that I have all the qualities of a good leader who can manage the
situation and people when needed. I was working in a multinational organisation and I
observed that it is very easy to identify and detect the perception and feeling of other people
about a person when a person is self-aware about their skills and personalities. I feel that
when I was entered first time in professional life, I felt a strong need of self-motivation and
requirement of self-confidence to talk and communicate with my other colleagues. However,
within the workplace, there were many people from different culture and nations are working
together (Hopkins and Yonker, 2015). I was really so desperate to establish a good
organisational relationship with those people. However, my skills and qualities of
communication and establishing a good relationship with people helped me to get out from
this problematic situation. The ability of self-awareness helps me to identify my own
emotions and passions and how my personality can help me in my life.

encourage them to achieve their personal and professional goals both (Stoddart and Clance,
2017). As a professional person, I always bear one thing in my mind that communication
always be helpful in leading and motivating people, if it was done in right and effective
manner. Although, both verbal and non-verbal communication have their own role in any
types of organisation but right way and medium of communication ensure the success of a
leader.
Organisational Challenges and Role of a Manager
I have observed that managing talent in organisation is a major issue for a manager because
sometimes talent war creates an extreme clash of interest in the organisation and the hard
competition leads to disunited work environment or conflicts between the people. I have seen
many issues related to that and I tried to sole these type issues to identify my skills of
negotiation and managing the conflicts. My communication skills and way of talking with
other people help me to resolve the situation with effective results. I have observed that
instead of working together, people fight with each other. This situation can be only solved if
a person has ability to talk with both the parties and convince them about the solution of the
issue (Lou, Changeux and Rosenstand, 2017). As a professional, in such circumstances, I
have executed my skills and knowledge to resolve the situation with very close analysis of
the interest of each people in the organisation. Conflicts and negotiation is generally
requirement of every organisation and it will be beneficial for a manager if he is able to
negotiate the conflict of people and serve as a negotiator between two parties (Holsinger Jr,
Carlton and Jadhav, 2015). It was my fortune that I was part of this type of situation in my
previous organisation where I have learned many things from my seniors that how to resolve
a situation with good communication skills and proper understanding of situation.
Conclusion
In conclusion, I have found that self-awareness and communication both play an important
role in managing and guiding people in any organisation. As a professional person, I always
tried to identify my self-strengths and weaknesses and execute my skills in those situations
where these skills are required to execute. However, communication helps a manager to
establish a good relationship with people and understand their issues related to their personal
and professional life. In my opinion, self-awareness is the key of self-growth and it can be
used as a mean of developing others as well.
