Introduction
Professional practices refer to act or conduit of a person for a particular profession.
Professional practices are requiring in any business for their success and attainment of goals. By
conducting telephonic interview of my friend, I get to know that interaction and relationship of
employees with customers are important for attaining goals and objectives of business.
Professional practices at workplace helps to improve working efficiency as well as performance
of a person. Professional practices help to establish various boundaries between right as well as
wrong behavior. My friend describe that some management are support vibrant and enjoyable
environment which helps to avoid conflict as well as misunderstanding. In this fast running
world, competition is increasing rapidly and affecting the whole market situation. Companies
need to prepare an effective plan so that company can effectively take competitive benefits and
improve their market effectiveness. It is necessary for the organizations to conduct strategic
hiring process and appoint high talented and skilled candidate so that they can easily improve
and practice their professional skills and help to resolve the issue of the company. This second
assessment is all about to prepare the reflective report in which internship experience and leaning
will be discuss and also identify the professional development opportunities as per the
assessment one. The experience and learning is based on the internship opportunity in the Tifosy
Capital & Advisory Company which is well known sport related organization in UK. This
assessment will also discuss the key critical incident, initial development goals, reflection on the
activities and also discuss about the future career development plan.

Professional development opportunities
To recognize and practicing the professional development opportunities are the main
concern of the students so that they can effectively adopt new traits and competencies in their
behavior. My friend told me that what is the significance of professional practice in an
individual’s life. It is effective for getting a good professional development opportunities and
improve work experience. After completing master degree in (MA in Sport Management and
Development) My friend told me that he divided to start internship in this field so that he can
gain knowledge about the practical working implications. He has investigated various online job
portals and drop off my resume on various online sites like indeed, LinkedIn, Monster, Universal
Jobmatch. Then he filled the application forms and sent my resume in the well known
organization in which I can start my internship. He used to visit some institutions and sport firms
but due to COVID-19 , it was difficult to interact and show my capabilities. Through lot of
struggle and efforts he finally got opportunity to do internship in the well-established Tifosy
Capital & Advisory organization and then he has started to work in this organization as an intern.
He told that he is considering this as a big opportunity for sharpening professional skills and also
develop core competencies and practicality about the sport. He got 120 hours to direct contact to
negotiate the placement supervisor. As an intern, he explored the things in the organization and
try to participate in each and every task so that he can develop new skills and effectively manage
my day to day task and improve my performance. He told me that he also actively participated in
the decision making process of the company and share my suggestion and opinions with the
management department so that he can learn well in the organization. After some time, he has
generalized that organization is facing some problem related with the improper company
policies, ethical problem, discipline and absenteeism.
Learning experience and development
One of my friend has completed their internship in sports business in Tifosy Capital &
Advisory Company which is to conducted for around 120 hours where they have learned various
new things. In also wants to develop my career in that field and for this purpose, I just conduct
his telephonic interview in order to gain understanding about this field and industry. Tifosy is
one of business which is integrated global sports advisory as well as capital solution firm. This
organization is providing expect advisory services as well as capital solution to sport industry.
While working in this industry my friend gets to know about different function, strategies and

practices of business. In this interview, I get to know different aspect of sport industry as it
provides knowledge about which game event or sports event is beneficial for business to invest
in. I also get to know about different things about sport industry which is beneficial for me for
my professional development as I want to develop my career in this field. After this, I get to
know how would they get this opportunity to do internship in sports industry. There is different
platform which provide suitable job opportunity to a person including LinkedIn where a person
who is finding any job opportunity can find their job and also build a network which helps them
to find best suitable job for them. For this, individual needs to upload their resume or CV on
different website like LinkedIn. In this telephonic interview, I also get to know about various
skills to be required for development of career in sports business or any other field. These skills
include team working, communication, time management, leadership, motivation and many
more. Communication is one of important skills for any field as it allows a person to share their
view, ideas, thoughts and other things. Communication is important as it helps a person to
communicate with team members effectively. It also helps to increase morale of employees and
motivate them to be committed with their work. Communication is key for trust and also helps to
maintain good employee relation at workplace. Team working is another important skills at work
place which is required in any business industry. Team working helps different people to work
with dedication and coordinate with each other in order to attain goals of company. Team
working helps to speed up work of company and also develop sense of development in different
members of company. Time management is one of important skills as it helps a person to saves
their time which is invested on unproductive activities. Time management is important at
workplace which allow them to complete important activities on time and increase productivity
of employees. All these skills are important in order build career in sports industry which allow
an individual to successfully complete their work on time. For developing career in sport
industry, a person require necessary skills as well as knowledge related to this industry.
Key critical development incident
My friend shared his experience with me about the work culture. He provided me detailed
information about problems he faced and also skills he developed while working in Tifosy. I interviewed
him in order to enhance my own skills and learn from his experience. In a business world, mistakes are
always frowned upon. These are an essential part of human life and employees sometimes undervalue
their own self. I have understood that employees need to be effective while working at workplace. They

must be knowing what are the essential skills and capabilities they possess for managing the business
tasks. When there is notion of zero mistakes then most of the employees are complacent. When
employees have pressure on themselves for not doing any mistake in their work, it creates environment of
fear in their minds. I think employees have to change the way in which they work at the company. This
will make them more productive and efficient. When risk is high then managers have the authority to
increase the possibility of understanding employee’s behavior. When there is environment in which
mistakes are known to be disgrace and they must avoid costs. It reflects that employees must tend to hide
mistakes and they should not care about these. In context of goal for professional learning and
development, there is need to have effective frameworks that can be chosen to work well. In context of
Tisfosy, where my friend did internship, there were lot of situation when risk is high. At that time,
managers helped the subordinates for managing the work. They try not to scold anyone for not doing
well. They implied an example of good leader. They were always supporting the way subordinates
worked and they tried to manage efficiency of work. There is need to manage all working activities
efficiently so that goals can be attained in less time. Initially, trainees are asked for recalling their own
experience about the work. This experience is very specific. My friend told me that he was involved in
managing different activities associated with providing guidance to clients about the sporting finance
decisions. There is lot of explanation about management and operations which were related to
enhancement of skills and capabilities. My friend told me that he took help from all the managers. The
team leader provided full support and care to him when he needed help. It was seen that there is need to
manage all problems and challenges while working and overcome them to enhance the capabilities. There
is also means of managing the issues and conflicts that take place while working with different team
members. There is also need for managing the way of working and enhancing whole project.
Initial development goals
Development goals are tied with personal development. These are concerned with attaining new skill,
competence and potential for career advancement. Some of my initial development goals to build and
advance career in sports industry are as follows:
Improving communication skills: It is important development goal to pursue career in sports
industry. Majority of form of communication that is used in sports is verbal communication in which all
information are exchanged among players and coaches through words. Also, it is analyzed that nonverbal
communication is used by players in which they uses hand signals as well as series of signs to indicate
what other player are supposed to perform on field. My one of initial development goal is to improve

communication skill within 1 month through practicing active listening, asking for feedbacks from
coaches, managing my emotions and developing filter.
Building critical thinking skill: In sports industry, critical thinking skill refers to analyzing facts
for developing judgment. My another development goal to pursue career in sports industry is to build
critical thinking skill in the time frame of 2 months through considering consequences of options,
performing research, acceptance of facts, evaluating own work and using foresight. With the help of
critical thinking skill, I will be able to perform effectively in competition as it will help me to analyses,
evaluate along with restructure thinking in more supporting manner. Attainment of the initial
development goal will assist me to decrease risk of adopting, performing and thinking about incorrect
beliefs in sports.
Concentration: It is termed to the potential for directing attention of a person as per will of other
individual. In sports industry, higher concentration level is key as it keeps the players in present moment
along with not worry for historical mistakes together with getting ahead of self. One another initial
development goal for making career in sports industry is to maximise my concentration level in 1 month
via training my brain, meditation, exercising, spending time in nature and improving sleeping quality.
With higher concentration level, I will be able to ignore distractions while playing games and better
handle my emotions, anxiety addition to over excitement.
Improving planning ability: Planning skill is about accurately estimating time addition to efforts
that are needed in completion of a task or an activity. In sports, planning skill is significant because it is
considered as an effect that is produced on adaptation to coming changes. My initial development skill for
career in sports industry is to improvise planning abilities in 2 months through accepting complexities,
searching for approaches that work, exchanging ideas of action with other people’s brain and keep trying.
Core of planning abilities in sports is to foresee change as well plan the ways they are required to be
realised with proper planning action. With proper planning, I will set schedules to practice, devise
strategies to win games and organize practices to achieve winning results in competition smoothly.
Reflection on activities
As I have chosen the telephonic interview in order to gather the information on the issues
faced by the company which deals in sports, it was important for me to conduct the interview of
such person who can provide me the in depth details of the organization and what issues it is
facing. One of my friend joined the company Tifosy capital & advisory as an intern and gathered
all information on problems faced by it internally. I took telephonic interview of it and analysed
that the company is facing problem relating to its policies, ethical consideration, high rate of

absenteeism and lack of communication channels. The interview conducted on telephone was
recorded with the consent of my friend so that I do not miss any important information regarding
it. The recording helped me in completing the assessment 1. Then afterwards, I listened to the
audio recording and generalized the information in written form so that proper analysis of it can
be done so that appropriate solution can be given to the organization in order to overcome it. My
friend provided me every information on it in details and I was successful in providing the
solutions to it due to knowledge of the issues faced by. Hence, the main activity conducted was
telephonic interview which helped me in gathering the appropriate information relating to
Assessment 1.
Future career development plan
While choosing the method of data collection as interview, that too telephonic, I faced
many issues as I lacked few skills which were useful while conducting interview but few skills
helped me in achieving my objectives in successful manner. There are few skills which helped
me in successfully completing my assessment which includes firstly the writing skills as I was
able to draw the right questions for the interview so that proper information is gathered which
can help in achieving the objectives of the assessment. Then the research skills inculcated in me
also helped me in providing the appropriate solution to the company so that it can overcome it.
But there are many skills in which I lacked and one such skill is communication skill as it
became hurdle in asking the right question. I was not confident enough to ask questions as I
fumbled in between so it is important for me to develop this skill. Then I also lacked in decision
making skills as I was unable to make right decision on time as I really got confused between the
two options. Then another skill in which I lack is the time management skill. When scheduling
the interview, I got late to make the phone call which placed the wrong impression in the mind of
the interviewee but I have my friend whose interview I was required to conduct so it did not
bother me much. But I realised that I am not good enough in managing the time due to lack of
discipline in me. So it is essential for me to develop this skill. In order to develop the skills, the
personal development plan will help me. It is provided below-

career development of an individual. Professions are basically associated with the occupation
which requires a prolonged period of training and education. There is need to enhance an
individual’s capabilities and skills by managing the development of own working. There are
standard ethics, performance, competence and insurance as well as training that enhances the
professional development. It is also analyzed that for an individual who has conducted
internship, there is need to evaluate own performance. This provides information about areas
