Reflection
As a nursing clerk, I have been provided with the opportunity to visit the nursing
simulation lab. After entering the lab, I have gained knowledge and skills regarding general
nursing expertise. It helped me understand the roles and responsibilities of nursing clerkship as
well as this role is also involved in the indirect care of the patients. In the following section, I
will reflect on the experience of the nursing simulation lab visit.
After entering the lab, I have seen the instruments regarding the nursing care and process.
Moreover, I also have seen the nursing students in taking training for nursing knowledge and
skill development. In this context, I have also smelt the medicinal and disinfectant odours very
strongly. However, this smell has also been experienced by me in a hospital setting though the
smell is stronger in the lab. The lab is generally silent; however, the instrument sounds and the
conversation of the educators and the nursing students. As per the views of Morzycki, LeBlanc
and Williams (2018), I can relate this experience with the effective nursing practices needed for
the knowledge development and also providing the indirect or direct care to the patients if
needed.
Moreover, it also helps me in knowledge development and skill development more
practically than the hospital setting. I can also state that the lab experience is not only for nursing
students. It also helps the hospital unit clerk or developing real-life experience about the nursing
clerkship. Hence, I can reflect that the lab visit is effective in the knowledge development about
the nursing clerkship role in a more real-life experience. The lab is developed with all the
equipment required for the real hospital setting, and I experienced all these factors more
realistically in the simulation lab (Patton & Henry, 2019). The experience would help in the
development of real-life practice. This experience helps me in understanding and developing

effective skill development regarding clerkship roles and indirect care as well. This will help me
in the developing competence of customer relationship, proper emergency situational
management and also providing support to other professionals of the hospital for the
management of the dare procedures effectively (Zhang, Li & Li, 2019). Thus, I also can state that
this experience is helpful for me to develop knowledge, competence and skills regarding
clerkship role. Moreover, I can state that the proper focus has been developed with the help of
this experience of a simulation lab visit.
