Academic skills are those skills which are learned during higher education for enhancing
upcoming professional life. The following report cover about reflection skill and its importance
within a individual's life.
MAIN BODY
Reflective skill is one of the most important writing skill which help an individual to
describe their past experience and learn from them that what mistakes they have done before and
what they will do further to make the situation better if the same situation occur gain (Baykal and
et. al., 2021). Here, a individual reflect upon their own style of learning and their strengths and
weaknesses for achieving their goals. There are many frameworks which are used by a individual
to conduct their reflection and analyse their skills and abilities as well as the opportunities to
improve weak skills. SWOT analysis is the framework which consist of strong and weak skills of
an individual to achieve their set goals. This same framework also supposed to mention the
opportunities for future growth and threats to defend. Another framework for the reflection is
Personal and Professional Development Plan, which include all those skills which is required to
improve by a individual and it also include actions and time frame required to learn the weak
skills. Gibbs model is well known model of reflection which consist of six stages which help an
individual to describe the past experience, analyse what went wrong and what went good during
the situation and what skills are required to enhance after focusing the effect of the situation
upon a individual's professional and personal life (Verhoef and et. al., 2021). This model is also
helpful to analyse the way which help a individual to act differently and effectively if they face
similar situation in future.
Reflection is most important learning style for a student because here they can make a
record of all their achievements and mistakes which can be used in future for better development.
For a student it will help to develop better academic skills, develop better understanding of a
topic which is studying and unable the student to review their progress at the university. In
context of professional life reflective learning will help to make a employees more effective to
represent their self performance report in front of their management team. This will further help
to analyse the self ability of a employees and their knowledge so that they will focus more upon
those productive area which can help them to gain professional growth (Kocielnik and et. al.,

2018). Reflective learning will also help to analyse that whether the roles and responsibilities
which are given to a employee is matching to their present skills or not.
CONCLUSION
From the above information it is concluded that reflective learning is one of the most
important learning for a individual where the individual analyse their own strong and weak skills
by analysing their past experience. There are various frameworks and models for reflection such
as SWOT analysis, PDP, Gibbs model and many others. It is important skill because it will focus
on the self ability of an individual.
