INTRODUCTION
In order to get success as students, it is very necessary to have some skills which
can help the student in expressing their views with full confidence. The essay below is a
reflective report where the learner will present the experience of attending a course of
skills enhancement which will prove to be very beneficial for the learner. It will also
focus on the ways in which this knowledge can be implemented in the future for
resolving various issues raised from any aspect.
MAIN BODY
1. Reflection of experience of learner course
I experienced lot many things in the course of skills’ enhancement. It can be
identified that it is very necessary for the learners to develop various skills such as
creativity, problem-solving, critical thinking, leadership, communication, collaboration,
information management, adaptability etc. I was very excited as I got the opportunity to
enhance my existing skills and to develop the new ones. Before attending the course, I
faced many problems in facing the people in interviews, groups etc. because these
skills were lacking in me which made me less confident and demotivated (Rahmati,
Yusrizal and Hasan, 2017). I even was unable to work in a team as I didn’t practice
team working skills. The course followed both the approaches: theoretical and practical.
I was little nervous at the initial stages of the course as I hesitated in saying and asking
anything considering others to be more intelligent than me. The course was divided in
various sections according to the time schedule.
The first section consisted of the creative skills. This was chosen as first topic as in
order to compete in this dynamic world, it is must for the learner to be creative and
innovative. Through creativity, I learned to communicate my ideas and passions. It
made me realize that I am good at theoretical knowledge which was taught before many
years but I need to be creative to brush up my concepts. The next session consisted of
problem solving skills. Through this, I realized that one must be able to solve the
problems by itself, as it is necessary in surviving and thriving in the present and future.
In order to solve various problems, a person must have problem solving skills which

helps in defining the problem, find the effective solution and also make use of it ( Sorian,
Mann and Friesen, 2019).
Furthermore, in the session, the next I was taught about is the communication skills
which was earlier face to face but now it is more through the online platforms and the
social media. I realized that I was lacking at my communication skills which made me
more stressed, less productive and also I lost many relationships. In the next section, it
was collaboration which taught to me. This basically means working in groups in terms
of physical presence or virtual.
Adding blocks to the above skills, leadership was in the next go. This is considered to
be as the most important skill which must be in a student. This can change the lives of a
people. In that session, we were evaluated on the basis of our attitudes and behaviour. I
was given certain tasks in which my attitude was I can do it and I will do it ( Hartati,
2017). This independence and the willingness to do everything showed that I can be a
good leader in any aspect which I learnt through the course as i was very shy before I
attended this course. Overall, the experience was very good which can help me in
implementing these skills in various areas of life.
2. Ways to approach future challenges and expectations of a university course.
Solving complex problem and case study – The university course may expect
from me to solve practical and real life based problem or case study. This can a future
challenge and expectation of the course but I can approach this challenge by applying
my creative skills and problem solving skills (Dörner. and Funke, 2017). This creative
skill will help me to solve complex problems and case study. After learning this skills I
am able to find patterns and also I am able to find opportunities. I become innovative in
solving problems and case studies.
Handling unexpected situations – The future challenge and expectation of the
course may be to handle unexpected situation. I can handle these unexpected
situations by problem solving skills and decision making skills. I would calmly and
patiently analyse, research about the situation and then after identifying various
solutions to the problem will apply the best one to handle it. By handling the unexpected
situation I will also be able to build relationship (Pruchniki, Key. and Rao, 2019).

Addressing crowd or team – One more challenge can be addressing the crowd
or team members. It is also an attention giving challenge as relationship can become
sour, information delivered can be ambiguous if not communicated properly. I can
approach this challenge by my communication skills which I had learn. I feel these skills
are needed to address the crowd or the team members as it gives us confidence to
speak appropriately whilst maintaining good eye contact and using good vocabulary. In
performing the task in a team communication skills are very important therefore by
approaching this skills expectation of the course can be fulfilled.
Accomplishing task in a team – another challenge the course may consider can
be accomplishing the task in a team. As in a team there are several members and every
member is distinct from other in personality. I can approach this challenge by my
collaborative skills. I have developed this skills by communicating clearly, listening
actively, and taking accountability of the work and also by resecting the diversity of
other team members. Collaborating and working in groups through digital platform is
also the expectation of the course and for which I have developed that skill to
accomplish the task in a team.
Organizing any event or meeting – I can approach this challenge of organizing
the event or meeting through my leadership skills. Organizing any event or conducting
any meeting requires these skills which comes from discipline, willingness to do,
determination to do etc. by learning this skill I have developed the ability to think and
inspire others and also heading any event.
CONCLUSION
From the above report it can be concluded that during the module I have developed
as a learner as I have developed various skills such as communication skills, creative
skills, leadership skills, problem solving skills, leadership skills etc. lastly I have to
approach the future challenges and expectations of a university module such as solving
problems and case study, organizing events and meeting, accomplishing task in team,
addressing the crowd or team and many more.
