Understanding People and Organizations
1. I mostly agree with the self-assessment that has come out as the result. I have got quite
the similar numbers to what I had expected myself. For Example: Analyzing and Problem
Solving stage, I have got 2 out of 10. This means that I have to learn this skill a lot. I can
relate to it as I become very anxious when any problem arrives. For a few hours or days, I
am unable to decide what to do and how to find the solution to the problem. Similarly, I
am not a team member. I work really well when working independently but when it
comes to working with various people with different opinions, it become difficult. And it
is very obvious that one cannot achieve his or her objectives without the help of
managers and subordinates (Swarowsky, Leiz, & Niessen, 2010). Hence, 1 number is
well deserved in achieving objectives. Yes, I am good at learning new things and
developing myself into something different and further grow. Hence, I do not agree with
3 numbers out of 10 in Self Developing. Again 3 in Adapting to change is deserved as I
am not very good with changes as well. I like monotonous things and processes but I fell
a little unstable when any change happens. Though in the end I adapt with the changes
and stick to it.
2. I have learnt that these all are the skills which are required for working in an
organization. I need not to be fearful of the problem and with a calm mind I should take
out the solution of the problem (T. & I., 2010). I should look up to my manager if I am
unable to solve the problem. I should also work in teams as I need to respect others
opinion as well and take it in a healthy manner (Arrey, 2014). This gesture will help me
in achieving my objective which is again one of the weaknesses that I possess and will
also let me adjust in the situations when change occurs. It is said that if a person works
with unity, he or she can digest anything and becomes more adjusting as compared to a
person living or working alone.
3. There are in my belief 3 theoretical concepts which have given me a different insight to
work in the firm and in the most productive way. The first one is problem solving. A
person is always pressured when he or she works if he works under stressful atmosphere.
A person should always stay calm and composed at his workplace as there is nothing that
is more important than one’s health. There are always managers for help of their
subordinates. Second is working with teams. People work in teams for getting different
ideas and sharing thoughts from each other so that the work is done in a better way.

Working with teams makes a person more adjusting to the situations which exist in the
workplace. Working with teams gives the clarity of what exactly is needed by hearing
different ideas and the goals of the requirement. It also is helpful in building up the
networks which is very much needed in today’s world for a person (Fapohunda, 2013).
The person gets to know how to utilize the ideas of other people in teams. He will learn
diversification and also will learn about different cultures.
4. VUCA is short for volatility, uncertainty, complexity and ambiguity. All these factors
depict that today’s world is totally unexpected. The market of today is very unexpected
and every person should be aware of the positive and the worst situations. Being volatile
means change is the only thing that is constant. Market keeps on changing and with that
change, the person should also adjust to the situations at any point of time. Same goes
with the complexity. There are problems faced by every person in his or her life. Even in
the workplace there are obstacles and problems which are faced by employees and
subordinates. With such complex world surrounded with issues, one ca only find better
solutions to adapt with this complex world. When volatility is concerned, if a person is
good decision maker he or she can easily survive with the volatile world. Innovativeness
and adaptiveness is also one of the qualities which can help the person adapt with the
volatile world. Uncertainty means there is risk involved in almost everything. For taking
risk, a person needs to adapt with the changes or needs to come of the regular shell or
working principles. Adapting to the changes may support the person to be ready for
anything that is uncertain and comes suddenly (Heuvel, Demerouti , Bakker , & Schaufeli
, 2013). Ambiguity means seeking various perspectives and look for better alternatives.
What better quality would be there for adapting to the ambiguity except team building.
Working with teams as discussed above is always helpful so that the person can easily
take better ideas from everyone and work accordingly (Dovgopolyi, 2017).
