1. REFLECTIVE DIARY
1.1 Introduction
The reflective diary of mine has covered the training and development session which has
taken by me. This diary shows that how the actual session was, the overview of the session, the
weaknesses, what were the feedbacks from colleagues and the tutor which have evaluated by
them. And lastly the suggestions and conclusion have made. The feedbacks suggestions will help
me to improve my next sessions.
1.2 Training and Development session
I have selected the topic area for training and development session was Induction or
Orientation. I had chosen this topic because in every organisation either universities or other than
that, have organize induction session initially and after that make them familiar with the
organisation. And I wanted to share my view regarding this in front of others.
1.3 Session overview
As I took the overview of my session then it was great experience and kind of learning
for me. And I felt very glad that my colleagues and tutor had liked my session. My training and
development module session would help me to share views and knowledge in any organization.
Though I was weak at some points but they had given me suggestions for improving that.
2. METHODOLOGY
For my session I had adopted lecture styled which comes under off the job training
methods. In this method the information is to be delivered in a common room either classroom or
conference room. This is one of the effective way to explain the topics. With the help of power
point presentation I tried to give my best delivery of the related topic.
I arranged the sitting position in a U-shaped for my session way so that all my fellow
colleagues could see each other and towards me. Then I introduced myself and the topic which I
was going to deliver. After this I started with meaning and definition part of the induction and
the various ways of this can be conduct. I had also explained the benefits of induction. The
objective for this session was to make them understand that after finishing the studied they have
to go into different working environment at that time induction will help to become more
comfortable with the work. In the whole session I was the only person who was talking and other
were sat quietly. The pitch and volume of voice was very clear and also the attitude was calm.

I had described that the person who conducts induction wants to make you understand the
whole scenario of the organisation. And the main purpose of induction training is to correlate the
new joiners with the company. And make them understand the procedure and the system of the
organisation. This helps them settle down quickly in the new working environment. And also
make them feel of belongingness. It also provides necessary information and helps to establish
good communication.
I had also told them that it helps to know about the work and to whom they should report
to. How likely the working environment would be, what to do in case of any accident,
emergency and fire occurs.
The training session was scheduled to last for half day. I had also explained the power
point presentation. But I was unable to cover all the slides due to shortage of time, as the limit
was maximum 15 minutes. I had chosen the lecture style because in that the specified space was
available and the so much movement was not allowed. If I were allowed to take trainees outside
then I could show them the canteen area, gallery portion, playground etc.
The presentation was very enthusiastic with no interaction. The whole class listened me
attentively. I had maintained eye contact and my professional body language. All had maintained
the proper decorum of the lecture with smile on their face. At the end I was in hurry for
concluding all the thing which I had discussed in my session. I just said at the last that I was very
nervous at the beginning of the session. But gradually I became more confident while delivering
the lecture. And I was also feel glad that the presentation was understandable and had made the
environment so friendly and energetic. The way of delivering the information was quiet good.
3. OUTCOMES
As every sessions have some sort of outcomes, I also had the same. But in the form of
class feedback, tutor's feedback and evaluation.
3.1 Class feedback
The colleagues had made the points in the form of feedback. They had liked my
presentation and the way of communication. They appreciate my explaining style. They said
content was very useful and important for them. The knowledge was enough. My vice was blow
but clear and understandable. They said that the idea of presentation was brilliant. One of my
fellow colleague said that the lecture style was quiet good but instead of the session could be
more interactive if I went with the group discussion or interaction with individual. They had

recommended me some games, videos and group activity for the next time to make that more
interactive. And it had also said by them that I knew about the points what I was explaining.
3.2 Tutor's feedback
According to the feedback and evaluation given by tutor that the training session was
conducted by me was highly attractive to the audience. The information was presented by me
clearly understood to the participants as I used of visual image, graphics and proper font size.
Thus, the presentation given by me on subject topic was clearly defined to the audience as the
slides was properly in number that shows the well-prepared sessions. I feel that the information
given by me is too lengthy that was seen on the face of audience that feel so boring and inactive
at the end of the training sessions which shows rushed. Along with that, I have a good body
language that become for me was so convenient to deliver the message to the last seater more
clearly. For instance, the training session given by me was not fully effective said by the tutor
and they provide some suggestion that I had to follow during the training sessions . The
Recommendations given by the tutorial was that they said that he was feeling so rushed at the
ending part of the sessions and there was no proper interaction with audience during the session.
It does not gave the opportunities to express their views as well as opinions of tutorial during the
whole session. The tutorial recommend me that I had to ask the various question about subject
topic so, they can able to share something and deliver their knowledge in the public. They also
suggest that the training sessions video would be more beneficial but it can become a more
interesting as well as fun if they use all these tactics more effectively.
3.3 Strengths
I had made proper eye contact to everyone. My language was easily understandable. My
voice was audible to everyone. The facial expression was normal means it was appropriate. My
body language and movement of hands were professional. My explaining style was good. I had
sufficient knowledge about the relevant topic. The patience level was high with calm attitude.
3.4 Weaknesses
I was unable to make the session more interactive. And due to this I could not get that
whether they understood or not. The time management with the power point presentation was not
right. I had prepared so much slides with very much content just because I wanted to cover all
the points. But it had exceed the time limit and I had to wind up the presentation without
covering all the slides.

4. SUGGESTION/ RECOMMENDATIONS AND CONCLUSION
4.1 Suggestions/ Recommendations
Some of the things which are suggested by the fellow colleagues and the tutor were as
under:
Use of Group discussion for making more interactive session.
I should have manage the time for covering all the slides of presentation.
Using of group activities, games, videos would be more helpful for better understanding.
At the end I was in rush because of limited time, they had recommended me that I should
slow down that portion for the next time.
Make the class more enthusiastic so that they could ask questions during the session.
Engage the class with activities and more participative.
4.2 Conclusion
I concluded from this session that still I need improvement in some areas. As per the
feedback which had given by my class fellow and the tutor's evaluation. Through this I could say
I have learnt a new set of skills and acquire knowledge which I can apply in my next sessions. I
had gained confidence of delivering lectures. Some of the strengths and weaknesses which I
didn't know that I came to knew from this session. And I have decided to overcome my
weaknesses and maintained strengths. And I may also consider all the suggestions for the next
time.
