Journal Entry: Personal Experience with Windows 10 Upgrade and Design

I am working from home on my system designed by Acer
gateway having 4 GB of primary memory, 500 GB hard
drive and having Intel Pentium processors inside. I was
using the chrome browser and is connected to the internet
by a broadband connection.
When
It was Friday afternoon and I was performing the actions
sitting on my bed. I was in worried about the Windows set
up in my system and hence I was surfing through the
internet looking for help on the matter. The interaction was
of about 20-25v minutes.

The user and the user’s activity.What technology was being used and what was the intended goal of
the use to support the user’s activity?
I am a student who is using an Acer Gateway NE46Rs laptop and was confused if my laptop would support
the latest software upgrades in my system. This is because I use my laptop for every kind of work and i
want it to be upgraded to the latest software technologies so that I can work on my system with the
uninterrupted services.
What happened? What was the interaction like? How was the interaction shaped by the design?
Successes/problems?
I used the Google services for the help on the internet. I was looking to have information about my system
and wanted to know that if my system would be responding efficiently to the system upgrades that I would
be implementing in my system.

At first I visited the website of the company I was informed about the Windows 10 creator update. The website was
very convenient for a user. The website has displayed the instruction quite clearly for the user so that he can perform
the activities very efficiently. There was information about the update that the Windows 10 will notify the user
automatically whenever the update for the device that I am using right now. When the update is ready I would be
asked to review the privacy settings that I have implemented in my system. After the installation of the update my
system would be running on the Windows 10 version 1073. This not satisfactory for me and I wanted further
information regarding the update for my system. Hence, I had clicked on the check Your version of Windows 10
button as displayed on figure 2.

After I had click on the button, I was shown that my system was compatible for the upgrade of the system. There
were two options on the Download Windows 10 page.

One was update now and the other was the Download tool now. The update now link would have provided the
assistance in helping me upgrade to the latest version of the Windows 10. But, for the installation of the update in my
system I had to obtain a license to install the windows 10 in my system. For, this I was required to create an
installation tool for the implementation of the upgrade on the system. Hence, my next was to visit the Update Now
tab since, the update was already available for my system.

After, the installation of the Windows Update assistance I opened the windows update assistance as shown in figure
number 4. The system had provided information that the update was compatible with my system and I was directly
redirected to the installation procedure. The update for my system was a large one and hence, there was a lot of time
required for the completion of the procedure. The system had the requirement to download a huge number of files
and hence, it had taken more time for downloading the files. In addition to this, there was more time required for the
completion of the installation of the update for the system. In addition to this, the system was very convenient as I
was able to perform my tasks on the system while the installation was being competed. It had the background
operation features available for the User.
For conclusion it can be said that the system up gradating process was very efficiently designed for any kind of users.
The instruction on the website of the company was very helpful for the user and I was a very easy process for me to
install the updates on my system. Although the upgrading the process for the system was taking a very long time as
the network connection at my place was very slow. Hence, the full installation could not be completed.
