A patient-focused approach to care
I can provide responsive and respectful care to patients' values, needs and preferences to
ensure the values of the client guide all decisions. I can help patients with their care such as to
bathe, shave, shower, going to the toilet, oral hygiene, to change dressings, and to give them
basic medication and treatment. I can apply my observation skills to identify changes in their
conditions or complaints and report them to the supervisor. I can also offer patient education, pre
and post-operative care, assist patients in preparing food, and in walking. I can provide
emotional support to alleviate feelings of powerlessness, fear, anxiety, and vulnerability that
patients experience.

hardworking team member, and I always ensure that I focus on my tasks and use the best of my
ability to complete them on time with minimal supervision. I can assist the staff in identifying
and preventing environmental hazards in the whole organization. I can collaborate with the
multidisciplinary team to plan, implement, and evaluate evidence nursing care.
The standards of practice encourage me to work to my full scope as a group and only
delegate needs when required. I have competencies in various fields that support flexibility as
when a colleague is absent, I can perform their duties. As a new worker, I can learn from others,
thus minimizing training time to utilize Summer Health resources in a cost-effective manner. The

I am committed to applying my creative skills to innovate in different areas to bring
change and adapt to external changes. I understand and accept my responsibility for updating
residents’ observation charts to report and respond to any change. I can respond to patients who
act violently towards me due to my culture, religion, or gender. I can cope with change by
embracing it, accepting it, and showing a willingness to learn to accommodate it. I understand
that I will encounter teammates and patients from different ethnicity, race, sexual orientation,
and socioeconomic status that create diversity, and I have to accommodate and retain them. I can
speak English, Japanese, and Chinese hence I can serve our diverse community, which has
different races.
I can practice integrity by showing sensitivity to individuals and performing my duty in
consistent and fairly without bias. I am committed to learning about others to understand their
perspectives, actions, and believes. I am able to build a strong rapport using transparent
