1. Introduction of Self and EOI
I am [Name], and with a great ambition to succeed and flourish, I would very much like
to take the opportunity and apply for the post of Registered Nurse Early Graduate Program. With
my current credentials, I feel confident that I would be able to apply my practical knowledge in
the coming time and would make Summer Health one of the best healthcare services in the
region. I have worked hard throughout my previous job tenure and have attained excellent
organisational values of respect, accountability, and integrity. Even more importantly, I have
developed a very clear and good knowledge of professional performance standard that includes
the NMBA code of ethics for Nurses in Australia, Occupational Health & Safety Act 2004, and
National Law Act(Crisp et al., 2017). Apart from this, I have been known as an active participant
in all kinds of improvement and decision-making activities of the healthcare centre, where I
worked previously, which has improved my personal development skills. Even more
importantly, I have always utilised the resources of my organisation in a very timely and cost-
effective manner.
In my previous position, I primarily served in the cardiology and pediatric units, where I
had the role of ensuring patient care. My duties as a nurse included examining medical histories,
ordering tests, admitting patients, diagnosing conditions, prescribing medication, designing
treatment plans, and educating patients on their condition. In addition to this, I have participated
in a training program, from which I have learned Persantine and Lexiscane nuclear stress tests.
More importantly, I have a knack for self-education and self-development, which has enabled me
to overcome any hurdles that lie between me and my nursing career. Therefore, I believe that I
qualify as an exemplary candidate for this position that has been recently posted.

2. Key Selection Criteria: Patient-Focused
Over my work duration at my previous job, I have developed a patient-focused approach
towards my job in accordance with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia code of
conduct and practice standards. For instance, I have realised that the patients' preferences must
be given the highest priority to maximise their care and satisfaction, since the Code of Conduct
for Nurses explicitly mentions this approach as its second most important principle. Realising
this, I always try to recognise patients' needs and unique values. More importantly, I have been
known to treat my patients with great respect and dignity, in accordance with Principle 3 of the
NMBA code of conduct and practices standard. In addition to this, I believe that a patient-
focused approach is necessary to ensure better morale and productivity among the ancillary staff
and other nurses. Therefore, I view the patient-focused approach as a tool to achieve better
organisational efficiency. To further elevate the achievement of the organisational goal, patient
satisfaction, and better quality of healthcare, I have learnt the importance of maximising physical
comfort for patients which helps them to deal with their pains, daily activities, and hospital
environment. Further, during my work experience, I have realised that the emotional health of
patients is equally important as their physical health and comfort since fear and anxiety can have
negative effects on patients' recovery. Therefore, I have always emphasised on paying special
attention to anxiety treatment and the emotional well-being of my patients. An even better way to
improve the emotional health of patients is to maximise their interaction with their families and
friends. For this purpose, I have always encouraged family members to visit their patient
regularly and, even I asked the Summer Health management to organise accommodation
facilities for friends and families of patients (Carpman & Grant, 2016). In addition to this, I have

always tried my best to maximise communication between my patients and me so that self-care

Therefore, team nursing is an important feature which is only possible if the nurses are team-
oriented and flexible to work with. To comply with the NMBA Registered nurse standards for
practice standard 2, which emphasizes on engaging in healthy professional relationships at
workplaces, I identify myself as a team-oriented individual since I have positively worked in
collaborative environments with other nurses so that I can help my colleagues feel supported
under high-stresses of work. In addition to this, I have worked in groups with other doctors and
healthcare employees which has robustly promoted my team communication skills. I believe I
can effectively convey my thoughts and ideas to my team-members during work, which always
helps in improving the quality of services and patient safety. Being a team player, I believe that
positive communication between team members is always associated with measurable processes
and outcomes, which is again in accordance with the Standard 2 of NMBA Registered nurse
standards for practice. This has enabled me to identify my weaknesses and failures, through

constant feedback from my fellow workers and seniors. Therefore, teamworking has consistently
allowed me to keep track of my progress and measure my performance continually.
During the time I worked as a nurse on my previous job, I have clearly polished and
groomed my team-working skills. This has led me to work with a flexible, team-oriented
approach for efficient service delivery. Not only have I been a team worker, but I have also
assumed the role of a team leader in directing a group of colleagues to deliver the required
services.
4. Key Selection Criteria: Committed to Excellence and Acting with Integrity
I have always loved working in challenging environments and performing at peaks,
which resonates with the principle 4 of NMBA code of conduct and practice standards. I have
never experienced any problems in taking up problems that might feel difficult to other people.
However, I have, at the same time, always tried to avoid potential conflicts and relationships that
might impair my commitment to excellence, according to the clause 4.1 of principle 4 of NMBA
code of conduct and practice standards. This is how I realise my commitment to excellence and
my commitment to successfully completing all educational, professional, and clinical hurdles
that might lie ahead of me. There are many professionals in the healthcare industry who are
committed to average or committed to mediocre but there are very few who are actually
committed to excellence, and I believe I qualify as one of those. On a daily level, I pay attention
to the detail of every task that I am performing, regardless of how simple it is or how complex it
is. More importantly, I am consistent in my work and functioning. In addition to this, I keep a
patient's care and satisfaction as my top priority which allows me to keep in mind my goals and
objectives. To understand what my patients need, I try to think by assuming the role of my
patients and how they perceive the healthcare system. Apart from this, I am committed to facing

12-months EGP program.
During my college days and during my time as a nurse, I have always ensured my
commitment to excellence. For the delivery of service, I have never hesitated from going the

basis.

Professional and self-development are very important skills that are essential for a nurse
to perform her job effectively, according to the Principle 6 of the NMBA code of conduct and
practising standards (Kyrkjebø, Søvde & Råholm, 2017). Apart from the mandatory
requirements and essential medical knowledge, several other skills are critical in defining the
self-development of a nurse (Wuyts et al., 2019). I have put great efforts to keep up my self-
development by continuing my education, upholding consistency and evaluating my learning
needs, in an attempt to follow the principle 6, which emphasizes on research in health, of the
NMBA code of conduct. I believe that I must keep learning throughout my career as it helps me
to remain up-to-date about patient care, care techniques, and healthcare trends. More
importantly, I try to be independent in learning, so I attempt to analyse my own learning needs
and educational resources in order to expand my current knowledge and skills.
I have worked to get a better understanding of modern nursing standards and the
approaches that are being adopted by international standard healthcare institutions, which reflects
my professional compliance with the principle 7 of NMBA code of conduct. In this way, not
only I can help myself and my colleagues in time of needs but can also enhance my professional
