Importance of registered nurse standards for the practice of the registered nurse
Registered nurse (RN) practice and standards is considered as the practices that are
person centred and also classified as evidence based (Potter, Perry and Hall, 2016). Along with
these, various other useful terms are also used for the consideration of these such as curative,
supporting etc. Their relationship with others, patients etc. is quite different and also they have
an interaction level with the families etc. They have to face enormous number of people in their
daily life and some cases act very challenging as well to them. As per the Nursing and Midwifery
board of Australia (NMBA), there is a wider range of the professional standards that is specially
meant for all the registered nurses. In actual, there are seven standards on an overall basis and
these involve that the RN'S making a proper analysis of the nursing practices, involves in
different professional as well as therapeutic relationships, tries to be able enough for practice,
organising sessions on a regular basis, developing a proper plan for practice, provides efficient
quality of nursing and safety and evaluating their own outcomes (Regan, Laschinger and Wong,
2016). So, these are considered as the standards that must be followed by the registered nurses in
order to ensure an easy and appropriate going of the processing. Also, the forte of the
organisations involving these are to provide their patients a safe environment and an appropriate
quality of service to their patients so that they can have a better quality and treatment.
For practice, there is a need for the registered nurse standards because it helps in
maintaining the balance between the processing of different factors. These standards play an
important role because it helps in promoting the use of all clinical practices. These clinical
practices are very important to be followed because it involves all the measures and processes
that helps in maintaining a sort of discipline between all the operations. Also, by means of this,
nurses also have to ensure proper ways to implement the changes and to use a particular way to
communicate with others (Black, 2016). So, the involvement of nursing standards helps in
providing a proper framework that can seem easier and simpler to follow so that they can be able
enough to develop the clinical competency. The framework also involves efficient and
appropriate ways, whether it is associated with the communication or services to be given to the
patients. So, it can also be considered as a sort of assistance to the management as well as
authorities that is also composed of proper rules and regulations so that the whole processing can
be done in an effective manner. These professional standards also helps in maintaining the
competence because there are various number of organisations working under the same sector

but what is important here is the difference between the level of services and support being
provided to the patients. So, every organisation should make sure to involve these professional
nursing standard because for every single nurse and practitioner, it can act as a framework. Also,
the person should have to ensure to work according to the rules and policies of the standards.
By making use of the professional standards properly, the nurses as well as the
practitioners can provide efficient enough outcome so that the overall risk for the patient as well
as the other factors can get reduced to a huge extent (Coventry, Maslin‐Prothero and Smith,
2015). Also, it helps in investigating the areas in the clinical practice that needs some sort of
improvement because there are various factors that needs to be modified according to the present
needs so that it can act effective enough for providing the treatment and satisfaction to the
patients. As per the standards, the policies get updated on the basis of the needs and requirement
of the time. The whole process is being updated by the government and ministry of health and
social welfare. It is done on the basis of the present requirements of the system. Along with
maintaining the balance between the systems and operations of the health and social care, it also
ensures making use of the safety features because it is the responsibility of the organisation to
provide proper safety to the person till the time, they are admitted in the specific care home or
centre. Brushing up the professional standards in these organisations can actually help in
providing and delivering the best quality care and services to the patients.
