government fails in its responsibilities and regulatory authority made to act to influence the
people. This theory is related to regulatory agency that act upon on the changing interest of
public. This report based on a case study where a person plays a dual role in his duties in private
and government organisation that creates a issue regarding reducing the public faith or interest
at workplace.

Overview of the case study:
Basically the case is regarding with a individual Robin Batterham who plays significant
dual role and part time duties in the federal government as a chief scientist and another role is
data technologist in mining company Rio Tinto (Bansal and DesJardine, 2014). Role for the
mining company is not compatible and position for the data scientists must be full time. And
issue is related to him only he did the burying greenhouse gas emission without testing it.
Working for the both role or duties may harm the public interest. Dr Batterham’s needs to quit
the job for mining company Rio Tinto.
As per the above discussed case study, In the context it requires to apply some relevant
accounting theory to settle this issue. In the particular situation, there are various theory that need
to put in a specific theory to find out the solution of this process. This case study, the regulatory
caption theory can be applied as the per the requirement of this case study. In the references of
this case, the regulatory authorities works under to enhance the faith of persons control the
commercial and political concerns by the particular groups of this sectors (Dougherty, 2017). It
comes into account when government may fail to increase the public faith in the organisation.
There are some conflicts arises by the side of Dr Batterham such as mismanagement of time,
less concentration on the particular projects, public interest etc. All the factors are play a
significant role in emerging the conflicts.

assess the conflicts related to certain issue happening in the both organisation. If senate

defiantly provide the help regarding this issue to resolve the problem of the dual role and

this theory. Government are capable of correcting those the marketing failure in the regulation.
But the government is not interrupting in the particular situation and total power of senate
committee to provide solution. The senate committee provides the fundamental solution to Dr.
Robin Batterham in order to leave the job in the data technologist in mining company Rio Tinto
and provide the full attention towards another job that is employed with. In the job references,

period. But where working at dual role, it is difficult to handle both responsibilities as it may
leads many problem and conflicts (Uhrich, Koenigstorfer and Groeppel-Klein, 2014). The above
discussed theory can be applied as Dr. Robin Batterham is doing dual job in two different
organisation that may causes or creates an issue. So it needs to be serves a job where he can
fulfil the roles and demand of an organisation that is federal government office for the post of
chief scientist.

applying some theory like regularity caption theory to solve the problem. The caption theory is
