1MAJOR ISSUES REGARDING RELIABILITY MANAGEMENT
Abstract:
Mobile software applications also known as the apps have been an important tools in our life, and many small and large
software development companies invest considerable resources to target available opportunities. Therefore, how to evaluate
reliability of mobile software applications has been more and more important. This paper describes the role that reliability
management plays in the mobile applications. Why are this type of applications are must use for the Malaysian
governments university are also an important aspect of this paper. Mobile software applications are web-based system, and
several web software reliability models have been proposed.
1. INTRODUCTION
The Process of the reliability management can be
explained as the sub discipline of the systems that
emphasizes the dependability of in the lifecycle of the
management of the products. The dependability or the
reliability helps in the describing the systems of a function.
Further it can be said that the mobile technology can be
used in the field of the education at it can help the student
by many of the benefits. In this paper the major topic of this
purpose is to analysis the reliability management for the
mobile based applications in the educational systems [1].
The paper will evaluate some of the major researches that
have been done in the previous year’s regarding this subject
and bring out the major literature review of the task. This is
one of the major filed where the mobile technology is used
for the purpose of the education. The core of the technology
lies in the fact how the technologically used. The major
issues that are faced while the use of the mobile technology
like the security, availability and other such issues. IT can
be said that reliability or the dependency on this type of the
technologies can both be helpful and dangerous.
2. PROBLEM BACKGROUND:
2.1 Background Study
The youth and the mobile phones are just inseparable in
the now a days. With the rapid growth of the mobile phones
and the advancement with the use of the same from any
place have become quite a problem for the people around
the world [3]. Also with the growth of the technology many
of the other sectors growth have also increased, one of such
is the education department. With the advancement of the
technology the education system is not only changing in the
Malaysia but throughout the entire world. There have been
many of the researches that have already been done thought
the world in this case. One of the oldest and the most
advanced higher learning education institution in the
Malaysia is the University of the Malay. The university not
only one of the oldest institute but also one of the most
modern institute [2]. The university the Technology for
advancing in the studies in the world.
Study of the web based mobile learning in the Malaysia
Many of the scientist have done an extensive research on
the use of the mobile and the web based application is the
Instuitutitions in the Malaysia. Some of the major changes
came in the year of the 2010. A clear majority of the people
in the world including the Malaysia believes that internet
provides positive help in the field of the education [8].
Many of the researches have been done in order to make the
take out of the best out of the mobile internet technology.
Research aim and objectives:
Aim- The primary aim of this research is to find out the
major issues in the process of the reliability management of
the mobile based web application in the selected higher
learning institutions of the Malaysia.
2.2 Reliability management:
Reliability management can be explained as the idea that
an item it fit for a purpose with respect to time. The
capacity of an item or design to perform the best in an
interval of time. Risk is one of the major factor in the
process of the reliability management. Risk can be
explained as the proximity of something wrong happening
in given purpose. In this case the developing of the mobile
applications in a web based environment. The term
reliability in the web based servers can be referred as the
ability of the mobile based applications in performing us.
The use of the web services has increased toughly in the
higher learning institutes. The institutes in the Malaysia
have been extensively using the mobile based applications.
Some of the major uses regarding the reliability
management of these applications are:
Scalability: It is an attribute or ability of a process or
network or a software to manage the increasing demand. In
this case the major scalability issue that the Malaysian
higher educations are facing are the student’s demands to
more and more materials to study [7].
Visual design: This is one of the other major issue regarding
the reliability management. If the design of the web based
mobile application is not a proper one then the students
from the universities may face issues regarding the use of it.
Interactivity: This is one of the other major reliability
management issue that any mobile based application may
face. If the mobile application is not properly interactive
then face major issues regarding the use of the systems [9].

2MAJOR ISSUES REGARDING RELIABILITY MANAGEMENT Problem Background:
2.3 Literature review:
According to the author Robová, (2013), the
contribution of the internet in the revolution of education
system has become a lot. The authors did a proper and
through research on this fact from the internet point of view
in order to get the best results. According to the authors the
use of the modern technology primary the mobile systems
and the pc’s the use of the internet connection in the
schools have increased a lot [13]. The use of the internet
have been in the different fields of the education like the in
the field of the developing the skills in and the development
of personal skills. Other than the development purpose
internet have also played huge role in the online formative
assessment has also a major role to play in the schools. The
use also increased, one of such is the education department.
With the advancement of the technology the education
system is not only changing in the Malaysia but throughout
the entire world. There have been many of the researches
that have already been done thought the world in this case.
One of the oldest and the most advanced higher learning
education institution in the Malaysia is the University of the
Malay. According to the authors internet helps the student
in gathering more knowledge and developing academic
knowledge and also helps in the developing the
communication skills among the students .The university
not only one of the of the internet search is also a common
aspect in this filed. According to the authors the students
have already been using the internet for the purpose of
developing skills [6]. With the internet the students from
the Malaysia have been getting the access to the contents
from all over the world in order to develop the personal
skills. The students have access to different European
academics which also provides paid and the free contents.
Students can use the same in order to learn new
technologies that are been used by the world.
The major issues that the author Griffiths, (2017), have
stated that the use of the free internet in the institutes in
many countries including the Malaysia have increased the
addiction of the internet and the online gaming in the
student [11]. In certain cases it have been seen that a
particular student have been totally devoid of the real world
and completely merged with the online world [6]. Thus, it
can be said as per stated by the authors that the internet has
been a ban also for some people. The authors stated that
according to the Ryding and Kaye Journal of Mental Health
and Addiction (doi 10.1007/s11469-017-9811-6, 2017)
stated that the internet addiction is a conceptual minefield
and have raised alert to many of the researchers in the field
of the treatment providers [12]. The number and the amount
of the internet addictions have been increasing with days.
[5]
Researcher and scientist Siraj (2015), and other co-scientist
suggestested that the internet is one of the most wanted and
most used communication technology that brought a
revolution in the world. According to the authors internet
helps the student in gathering more knowledge and
developing academic knowledge and also helps in the
developing the communication skills among the students
[15]. The authors did a thorough research on the context of
the Internet Usage and Academic Performance in the
Malaysian public university. The results that have been
produced by the study have declared many of the facts that
were still unknown to the world.
The researchers have quarreled about the risks that are
associated with the use of the internet among the students.
One of the major risk that the researchers have brought out
is the addiction of the internet [16]. The study done by the
researches have shown that the excessive use of the internet
the standards of the quality of the study in a half of the
students have degraded. One study showed the result that
the grades of approximately 50% of the students degraded
due to over use of the internet and the social media [13].
The study conducted by the authors also showed that more
than 50% of the students used the internet for more than a 6
hours in a week day and the time increased in the week
ends. IT cannot be said that which site how the internet was
used but it was used. Other 50% used the internet for a less
than 6 hours in any day. The authored data resulted in the
fact that the higher use of the internet resulted in many of
the students. It was seen that self-motivation have been one
to motivate the students in order to use the internet in arise
way [18].
There are certain issues arise while the development of
the web based mobile application for the selected higher
learning institution at Malaysia. The issues are generally
related to the security and the availability issues.
Security:
The application needs to be secured. Without the proper
security during the implementation phase, the selected
learning materials can be accesses by the unauthorized
users [14]. Apart from that, the web application will keep
the records of the students from the selected higher learning
institutions [17]. In that case, the information of the
students and the personal details can be exposed, which is
not desirable. During the development of this web based
mobile application the developers should be concerned
about the security issue of the application. The strong
encryption of the system and assigning the right password
for the user access can prevent the threats from the cyber
security in the mobile application.
Availability: The proposed system is the web based
mobile application using for the higher studies. In that case,
the system is needed to be available at any time of the day
[13]. The availability of the system ensures the
effectiveness of the system. The study materials and the
contents in the application can be accessed by the students
and the proper login time of the students are need to be
maintained [18].
Flexibility of the system: The system is needed to be
developed in such a way that it can adopt any certain
changes in the environment and the requirements. On order
to do this, the selection of the development platform for the
system is needed to be done carefully. The possibility of the
breakdown of the system cannot be eliminated completely,
however. The possibility can be mitigated through the
selection of the right development platform and way of
implementation.
Scalability of the system: The system should be scalable.
In case, if the performance of the system cannot be
evaluated, further modifications cannot be made.
Ways to mitigate the issues:
The security of the application can be mitigated through
the use of proper security protocols and the encryption
techniques [4]. The encryption techniques will help to keep
the data secured during the transmission of the data through
the application [19]. On the other hand using of the strong

password can be implemented for accessing the admin and
the user accounts. The users of the account should provide
the guidelines for choosing the passwords. The right
application of the password can prevent the unauthorized
access.
The selection of the platform and the clarity in the
requirements can prevent the scope creep in the project.
This will help to achieve the availability and the scalability
of the system. The use of right platform or the software will
increase the flexibility of the system so that it can adopt any
changes in the environment [15]. On the other hand, during
the development the system is needed to be designed in
such a way that it can track and record the activities of both
the students and the teachers.
3 CONCLUSION:
Thus, concluding the topic it can be said that the reliability
management of the web based mobile applications are one
of the most complex thing to be done in the Malaysian
institutes. The Malaysian institutes have been using these
mobile technologies a lot in the field of the education and
the university technology. The use of right platform or the
software will increase the flexibility of the system so that it
can adopt any changes in the environment Thus it can be
said that the major use of this technology of the mobile
application have not only helped institutions in developing
but also helped the students in developing the personal
skills. It can also be said that another half of the students
have lost the real world identity and have a new identity in
the virtual world. The system is needed to be developed in
such a way that it can adopt any certain changes in the
environment and the requirements the addiction of the
internet can be said as one of the major problem which
effects many of the students in a bad way. The reliability of
the web based applications issues can be easily be
acknowledged and be secured [20]. It can also be said that
the use of the technology can both be good for the nation
and also bad for the same. If the security of the applications
are strong enough there may not be any issue with the
reliability and the scalability function. The availability,
flexibility and scalability are some of the major things that
are used for the concept of the reliability management. The
concept of the reliability management can be further
explained as the fundamental values of the reliability
management. The interactive of the applications must be
increased in order to make the applications more and more
user friendly. Thus it can be said the Malaysian institutes
must use the web based mobile applications in order to
make the students of the university more and more
advanced and confident enough to compete with the student
from the outside worlds.
