a) Explain the purpose of resources in teaching and learning (AC1.1)
Resources are vital in process of learning and educating so as to enable the students to learn and
grow. It provides the students or the learners with sources from where they can gather knowledge
(Belfield and Levin, 2015). For a teacher, the teaching materials are the resources that are
helpful in delivering knowledge to the students or the learners. There are two kinds of resources
that are used in teaching and learning, namely teaching resources and learning resources.
Teaching Resources: The materials used by the teachers to teach the students and the learners
are termed as teaching resources. The teachers use the materials to deliver and convey
instructions to the learners. There are several tools used by the teachers to teach the students like,
journals, books, blackboards, etc. It enables the learners to learn and memorize more. It supports
the teaching practices of the teachers and helps the teachers to use variations and diversity so as
to make the students learn more (Biesta and Hannam, 2016). It assists the teachers to
engage the learners actively and stimulates learning by the visual presentation of topics. It aids
the individuals to develop communication skills as well as ICT skills. The teachers of religious
education use mythological books and videos to impart knowledge among the students.
Learning Resources: Learning resources enables the both the teachers as well as the learners to
engage various styles of learning. It reinforces learning by the involvement of various tools. It
supports and encourages the learners or the individuals to learn. Learning resources provides
opportunities to the learners to have hands-on experience on specialist tools or equipments. It
boosts the people to learn independently through extended learning. The students and learners of
religious education are highly benefited from the resources used by the teachers like books and
videos (Kittelmann Flensner, 2015).

b) Evaluate the effectiveness of specific resources in meeting individual learning needs in
teaching and learning contexts (AC1.2)
The resources of education are helpful for both the teachers and the learners as it enables both of
them in various ways. The resources enable the teachers to use various tools and equipments
such that they are able to make the students or the learners understand and learn in a better way
(Pucciarelli and Kaplan, 2016). The learners are benefitted from the use of resources as it
provides them various means to learn better and apply the knowledge they have gained in their
practical lives. The resources are very effective to foster growth and development of people by
changing the thought process of people.
The resources are important to meet individual needs of the learners because it aids in
developing talent and personality and achieving quality. It assists the teachers to create interest
of the learners towards studying and learning (Santi and Santi, 2016). Resources help the
teachers to organize the activities in classroom and enable the learners to learn better in the field
of religious education. The resources enable the students to meet their needs in the following
ways:
Develop the skills required and address them effectively
Involves the learners actively
Enables the learners to get the desired outcome from their learning
Supports the learners to learn and study individually
It aids the teachers to demonstrate the topics effectively
Enables the learners to learn independently through extended learning
Helps the learners to learn or use new technologies
It challenges the learners to check their capacity of learning

c) Analyse principles of resource design (AC2.1)
Resource design in learning is the process of designing the learning experience of the learners.
The collaboration of learners, practitioners of learning and the experts of content developed it to
enhance the process of learning. Resource design aids the teachers in the field of religious
education as well, as it improves the method of learning. There are various principles that
underpin resource design and enhance the learning process of the learners:
To meet the needs of the individuals to quench the thirst of
knowledge
VARK is the acronym of Visual, Aural, Read/Write and Kinesthetic
sensory mode that are used in the process of learning. It enables the
learners to understand and learn in a better way by the use of various
means
It provides the learners the materials that encourage qualitative as
well as quantitative learning in the religious field (Mercer, 2016)
Resource designing makes the process of education and learning cost
effective
It makes the process user friendly
It enables the religious teachers to develop the contents as per the
requirement
Resource design assists to meet the assessment of health and risk
requirements
Encourages the learners to learn in their preferred style of learning
It makes a positive contribution to consolidated learning
Resource design addresses the domains of learning in a positive way

d) Analyse how theories, principle and models of inclusive curriculum design can be used
to inform resource development (AC2.3)
Inclusive curriculum design is the process of reviewing and responding to the contents, students
or learners and other stakeholders under the guidance of inclusive principles. There are certain
theories and principles of inclusive curriculum design that are used for resource development,
namely Bloom’s Taxonomy, Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs and Kolb’s learning cycle. These
models are applicable in religious education to evaluate the learning cycle of the students.
Bloom’s Taxonomy: According to Bloom’s Taxonomy the learning cycle has six levels namely,
memorizing, understanding the concept, applying the knowledge gained in practical life,
analysing and evaluating the knowledge of the students along with the creation or innovation of
new products (Dontham et al., 2016). The six levels of learning enable to analyse the
learning and the knowledge gained by the students. The learning cycle of students in religious
education is effectively analysed by the application of Bloom’s Taxonomy.
Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs: This model aids to analyse the needs and requirements of people.
This model segregates the needs of an individual into five stages like, physiological, safety, love,
esteem, and self-actualization (Jonas, 2016). It encourages the development of resources as it
segregates the needs and encourages the people to learn and develop their skills as per the need
and the requirement. However, the stages of this model namely, safety, esteem, and self-
actualization specially aid the learners to develop the resources as per the aspiration to grow.
Kolb’s learning cycle: Kolb’s learning cycle has four stages that is, act, reflect, conceptualize,
and application. In the field of religious education, this model is very effective to evaluate the
experiences gained and applied (Tomkins and Ulus, 2016). The stages in this cycle are to
gain good experience, share the feelings, behaviour, and the consequences, analyse the situation
and application of the remedies in a better way if similar situations arise. Thus, it enables the
development of resources to support inclusive curriculum design as well.

e) Evaluate sources that inform resource development (AC2.2)
Various sources foster the development of resources and enhance the methodologies of education
in all kinds of subjects. It enables the students to learn better and encourages the teachers to teach
and deliver knowledge in a better way. The sources that inform the development of resources
are:
Sources to inform development: The practise to have good relationship with friends and
associates help the individuals to gather more information and knowledge. The practise of the
learners to access internet also enables them to gain more knowledge (Geiger, 2016). Other
sources are library or study centres where the learners get a wide variety of books and journals to
learn and study. There are various religious and mythological books that aid the learners to
increase their knowledge. Internet resources enable the students to gather knowledge on religious
topics and improve their network with the specialists in that corresponding subject.
Formal Sources: Guidance and supervision also enables the learners to learn and understand the
concepts and the subjects in a better way. The corresponding journals of the subjects, the
organizations and the feedbacks available online also aids the process of learning. Trainings and
internships in vocational sector skills bodies assists the learners to learn better (Bakan and
Arli, 2018).

f) Design resources, including emerging technology (AC2.5)
Various resources are available to encourage the students to learn in a better way by assisting the
teachers to adopt new methods and resources that are more effective in the process of teaching
and foster the growth and development of the students or individuals. The resources that serve
the purpose are:
Specialist resources: The resources like textbooks, models, equipment, handouts, case studies,
etc. are the resources that foster the development of the individuals. Commercial packages, tools,
and equipments for a particular purpose are the resources that boost the learning capability of the
learners or the students. The user manuals or user guides enables the learners or individuals to
learn the way of using electronic gadgets or computers (Jackson, 2017). These resources play
a crucial role in the mental growth and development of people thereby, assisting them to gain
expertise in particular skills.
New and emerging technologies: The technologies like videos or DVDs positively influence
the growth and development of people. The use of visual and aural effects used in these
resources aids the religious students to understand the concept and the stories in a better way as
two sensory modes of the individuals are used in this process of learning. Virtual learning
environment and the packs of internet materials enhances the process of learning in religious
education and aids to learn better (Kravdal, 2017). E-learning study centre has made an
immense contribution in the field of education and made the students to learn and understand in a
better way.
