Report
AI Summary
This report examines the application of remote sensing technologies in forest conservation, addressing the critical role forests play in the ecosystem and the devastating impact of deforestation. It highlights the limitations of traditional forest monitoring methods and emphasizes how remote sensing, including technologies like LIDAR and UAVs, provides more accurate and comprehensive data for effective forest management. The report also addresses the challenge of illegal logging, citing Kosovo as a major offender, and explains how remote sensing can help detect and combat this practice. It concludes that remote sensing is an efficient tool for forest conservation, enabling forest department managers to address deforestation and manage forest resources more effectively, with high-resolution data sets and cost-effective solutions for even small-scale departments.

REMOTE SENSING IN FOREST CONSERVATION
Summary
Forest is an important component in the ecosystem that is responsible for providing large
range of flora and fauna. Forest provides crucial aspects globally. Forest is the source of food
and living for both humans as well as animals. The rapid growth of deforestation can be
devastators for the entire life on the earth. Hence due to lack of technologies it is impossible
to assess the loss in biotic components. It is important to preserve forest because it provides
variety of functionality. The traditional methods of monitoring forest was unable to deliver
comprehensive result. The technology of remote sensing has positively contributed in the
management of forest. It plays a vital role in the strategic management of forest. It has been
estimating the reason behind deforestation. Remote sensing helps to gain any information of
an element or object without making any physical contact. Remote sensing is responsible in
making important observation based on surveys and geography. It can be dangerous to
depend upon the official statistics as it can be wrong. Remote sensing provides an error free
result. Hence it is required to preserve the forest by applying remote sensing method. The
illegal logging is one of the major challenge that is faced by the law of forest conservation.
The illegal practice of cutting down timbers and transporting them is the major factor that is
responsible in deforestation. The mafia of timbers and harvesting them has been a common
practice by the industries that are supplying furniture to their consumers. Due to the high
percentile of illegal logging, it can be dangerous to depend upon the production if the official
statistics. Kosovo is the largest offender of illegal logging which has earned 21 million euro
in the market. With the help of LIDAR and UAV remote sensing devices, the forestry
departments will be equipped with high resolution data sets. The low cost has made it the best
remote sensing device. Especially the small scale department can use this because of cost
effective feature. This technique will help in eliminating the practice of illegal logging. With

the implementation of HD videos has potentially improved the workflow of forestry. It could
easily detect even obsolete errors. The spatial feature makes it a potential tool to examine
deforestation. The UAV system are also light weighted and has the ability to demonstrate the
accurate and correct result.
Hence, remote sensing can help in resolving the issue of illegal logging in Siberia. Remote
sensing can be seen as an efficient tool for the conservation of forest and will assist the forest
department manager to fight against the problem of deforestation and manage the same.
Hence the implementation of remote sensing has proved to be useful in conservation of
forest.
