Abstract
Remote working arrangement allow an individuals to work outside the normal office
environment. Remote working arrangement is a concept that establishes the fact that any
specific work does not require any specific area to be executed. With the advent of internet and
with the increase in use of the internet, remote working has been possible. This working
condition has several benefits in terms of increase in employee satisfaction, employee
performance and overall payroll efficiency. The undertaken study has made use of both primary
and secondary data to investigate the concept of remote working environment, the benefits of
remote working environment along with the operational benefits of using such working condition.
The undertaken study is focused on Kindred group, which is a public listed Swedish company. It
is one of the largest operators in online gambling industry. The study is significantly important as
it aims in establishing the benefits of remote working condition from both the perspective of an
employee and an employer. The study involves an extensive literature review to collect and
analyze data from the secondary sources. The primary data is collected in form of survey and
interview. The main objectives of the undertaken study is to define the concept of remote
working in this study and to critically evaluate its effect on the performance of the employees.
The results of the study indicate that remote working has a positive effect on the performance of
an employee as it particularly aims in increasing the commitment and employee satisfaction.
The study aimed in evaluating whether remote working condition is capable of providing
financial benefits to an organization. The findings indicate that the employees would prefer the
opportunity of working from a remote environment in comparison to a pay rise. Therefore, it can
be said that a flexible working environment is needed to increase satisfaction of the employees,
employee commitment towards the work along with the sense of responsibility the employee
offers. However, one of the key findings of the study is that efficiency of working in a remote

condition can be enhanced by providing necessary training to the employees and by resolving
the employee issues in a timely manner.
Chapter 6: Personal Reflection
6.1 Introduction
The aim of this chapter is to present the significance of the undertaken study in my
professional career, its contribution in career development and the reason behind undertaking
this study. I have conducted this study to investigate the concept of remote working along with
the needs of implementation of remote working environment in different organization. I believe
that remote working condition will be a necessity in majority of the workplace in future so as to
provide a flexible working condition. This is mainly because as per the global statistics, there
have been a steady increase in the number of people working from home since 2005. In the
following paragraphs, the reflection of the study, the significance of the study along with the
personal and career development opportunities that I have got while undertaking this study.
6.2 REFLECTIONS ON THE RESEARCH STUDY 300
The research study that has been undertaken aims in examination of the validity of
remote working in online gambling industry. The undertaken study evaluates a specific case of
Kindred group. I had undertaken this study with a purpose of analyzing the relationship between
remote working and performance of the employees. This particular study has been successful in
defining the remote working condition. The findings from the study indicates that the remote
working condition has a significant effect on the performance of the employees. It has been
observed that the performance of the employees are improved if they are given the opportunity
of working from a remote environment as per their wish.

To evaluate the previous researches that has been conducted in this field, I had
undertaken a comprehensive literature review in this study. The findings from the literature
review indicate that remote working condition is increasingly used across a wide range of
industries and the business corporations. The studies indicate that there has been a significant
growth in the remote working with the growth of internet usage. The literature review indicates
that the first official co-working space was set up in the year 2005 in San Francisco.
Through this study, I have been able to establish the differences between remote
working condition and flexible working condition. The first objective of the study, which was to
clarify the concept of remote working, was fulfilled through the findings of the literature review.
Through the findings of the literature review I have been able to portray the key reason, behind
increasing popularity of flexible working condition among the employees. It is observed that the
flexible working condition is mostly preferred by the employees who are bound by the family
commitments. Through this research, I have established the fact that flexible working condition
mostly increases the efficiency of an employee, which can further contribute to increasing the
overall productivity of an organization. Through this study I have been able to establish the
benefits of remote working in the gambling sector. This arrangement not only contributes to
maintaining a better work life balance, but also contributes to effective use of the total time that
is available with a particular employee as in a remote working condition, a considerable amount
of time is saved as the employee does not require to commute from one place to another.
Through this study, I have established several advantages and benefits of a remote
working condition. Remote working is a cost saving approach which is an advantage. The
benefit an employee gets from this arrangement is that they can devote a significantly greater
amount of time towards their hobbies and social life, enabling an employee to have a positive
influence on the overall employee happiness. Though this study I have been able to establish
that fact that having a flexible work condition allows an employee to enjoy better health and

flexible life style, which in turn helps in renewing the passion for their job. It offers higher
productivity which is a significant advantage to the employer as well. The remote working
condition has an influence on the office space and cost optimization as well which is a
significant benefits to the employees as well. Through the study, I have been able to provide
evidence that remote working environment has a positive impact on improving the performances
of an employee. The study has been significantly important as it has been able to provide
evidences of the main benefits that can be realized with the introduction of remote working
environment in gambling industry. The study is significantly important as it has been able to
outline the impact of flexible working environment on employee commitment and satisfaction. In
this study, I have showed evidences of collection of primary data in form of survey and
interview, which proves the validity and the reliability of the research that I have conducted.
6.3 REFLECTIONS ON THE SIGNIFICANCE OF MY STUDY VENTURE
The undertaken venture has an increasing significance with the working condition of the
online gambling industry. Although the study is focused on the gambling industry, the findings of
the study will be quite significant for the business organizations who are skeptical about allowing
a work from home facility to their employees. I have focused on investigating the concept of
remote working and its application in different organizations and therefore, I believe that this
study venture would provide a significant help to various business organizations in
understanding the positive and the negative impact of allowing flexible work condition to the
employees. Through the study, and in analysis of section 5.2.2, I have established the fact that
remote working will not have any negative impact on the performance of the employee if the
organization is able to effectively manage the minor issues that the employees might be facing
while working from a remote condition. Therefore, it can be concluded that the study that I have
undertaken and completed, has an increasing significance in enhancing the working condition of
different business organizations, especially in the online gambling industry. One of the most

interesting and the important findings of this study is that a large number of professionals would
be happy and will be willing to get the opportunity of working from a remote working condition
instead of getting a pay hike. Through this study, I have been able to prove the fact that there
will be a potential extra saving on the payroll cost of the current employees, which will further
help in indicating new boundaries in terms of future savings on the salaries of the employees to
be hired.
The findings of the undertaken study has outlined certain important factors related to
employees working in a remote condition, which include employee performance, commitment of
the employee towards the organization and the financial benefits that are offered to the
employees. The undertaken study is significant as it has been successful in establishing a
relationship or linkage of these three factors with the facility of remote working condition. The
findings from both primary and secondary data reveals that remote and flexible working has a
positive impact on the employee’s performance, which in turn returns a greater financial benefit.
The study prove that commitment of the employees who are working remotely is on a positive
scale. The sense of responsibility further increases with the condition of working from a flexible
working condition. The increase in employee satisfaction and sense of responsibility towards the
work can be considered as a significant reason for increase in the productivity.
6.4 PERSONAL AND CAREER DEVELOPMENT
The research study that I have conducted is vital for my personal and career
development. Currently I am working as the gaming head of Kindred group, reporting to the
CPO of the company. This is the main reason why I have chosen Kindred group as the focus of
my study. Through this study I have established my point that providing an opportunity of
flexible working condition can significantly help in increasing and enhancing the work efficiency
of an employee.

The success of this study is quite significant for my personal growth and career
development. Since I am working as a gaming head of Kindred group, I have understood the
need of providing flexible working condition to the employees to increase their productivity.
Hence I have undertaken this research study. I wish to become a C-level at Kindred in a few
years and my ultimate goal is to become a CEO. Hence it is necessary for me to understand the
working process of Kindred to review the current opportunities and issues persisting in the
organization and to find solutions to those issues. The findings of the study will help me in my
career development in Kindred as my entire study is focused on Kindred. Through this study, I
have been able to prove that if Kindred allow the facility of working from a remote condition,
there is a high possibility of savings. Although I could not show the exact figures of the savings,
I could certainly prove that a large number of professionals will prefer the facility of working from
a remote working environment, which will in turn increase their work efficiency. Therefore, I can
say that this study will be a turning point to my career and will positively contribute to my career
development and will help me to fulfill my goals.
