Homework Assignment
AI Summary
This assignment analyzes the 'All of the Above' approach to renewable energy during the Obama administration, which combined both renewable and non-renewable sources. It critiques this strategy, highlighting the potential for delayed transition to cleaner energy sources and increased environmental impact due to continued reliance on fossil fuels. The paper argues for a gradual replacement of non-renewable sources with renewable ones, advocating for a focus on no-carbon energy technologies. The analysis emphasizes the urgency of switching to renewable sources to mitigate the effects of global warming and climate change. The assignment also considers the consequences of delaying the transition to renewable energy and its impact on the environment.

1RENEWABLE ENERGY IN THE USA
During the presidential tenure of Barrack Obama, ‘All of the Above’ approach was taken
for the use of renewable energy sources. The main objective of the approach was to use a
combination of all the available resources of energy that is both the non-renewable and
renewable source of energy. The non-renewable source of energy are crude oil, coal and natural
gas. The source of renewable energy are solar, biofuel, wind, nuclear and hydroelectric power.
The objective of ‘All of the Above’ approach is to create more jobs and improve economic
growth, enhance the security of energy and installation of low carbon energy technologies and
initiate the process of achieving pollutant free source of energy in future. The approach would
possibly have negative impact on the country as it has accepted the use of combination of all the
resources. It is not trying to replace the non-renewable sources with non-renewable one
currently. Switching to low-carbon emitting energy source is the need of the hour considering the
fast changing climate due to global warming. The alternative approach that the USA can take is
to gradual replacement of the non-renewable source of energy by renewable ones. It means that
the government should encourage no carbon energy technologies rather than low-carbon energy
ones. ‘All of the Above’ approach would keep the country waiting for too long to switch to the
renewable source of energy and thus the impact of environment would be higher and the climatic
condition would decline as well. The delayed switch to renewable source means more use of
non-renewable source and thus with higher amount of carbon emission global warming condition
would get worse.
