France as the country and Repetto as the company. The company Repetto is a world class
company known for its excellent and comfortable ballet shoes. It was started by Rose Repetto
in a small shop in 1947. In 2013 the company recorded $60 million revenue and 340
employees working under it. The company is started its operation in Paris. The company is in
France and here the economy, income and living standard is also to be analyses. The labor
law and child labor followed in the county it is to be studied.

Introduction
The product is based on the Shoe Company of Repetto based in France. It is a well-
known company in Paris it distributes its product in developed countries. It is known for it’s
durable, comfortable and stylish shoes. It was started in 1947 by Rose Repetto when she
made first shoe for her son Roland Petit. In 1956 she made a very famous Cendrillion
Ballerina on request of Brigitte Bardot. Since then its brand was well received by the
audience. It is in the country France and it works successfully without any conflict with the
laws of labor and employees.
Analysis:
France has total area of 640,679 km^2 with a population of 65,167,000. The last
recorded GDP of France is $3.081 trillion and per capita income to be $47,113 for year 2019.
The HDI of France is very high to be 0.901. This means that the demography of the country
is highly developed and well educated and at a good income dispersion. The capital city of
France is Paris. The product taken in report to study evolved in Paris. France is also one of
the largest country in Europe. France is one of the most attractive tourist place and it is
famous for its cuisine and wine. The population of France is combination of French, English
and other languages. Many people from different country comes to France to find job and it
has around 20% of foreign work force. The shoes produced by Repetto is also made by
approx. 340 employee and workers. The work done is primarily in Paris and finished good
distributed all around the world.
France is the 6th largest economy in the world. Thus the work force of France is well
paid off. France has the highest minimum wage in Europe. The minimum wage for national
and foreign workers is per hour of €9.76 or the equivalent of €1,498.47 per month. The
increase in one year was only 12 cent which is very low. People younger than 17 are paid

80% of the minimum wage. If the labour is not experienced than they are paid 90% of the
minimum wage. It is seen that France is the only EU country that pays minimum wage more
than 1000 euro (Repettodata, 2019).
Labour Law and regulation
There is French labour code of conduct which provides a whole rule on the relation
between the employee and the employer. The labour union and the employer has a bargain
power in this rule book. Incase there is a conflict than the employee or Labour is favoured
more in case collective bargaining agreement. Whereas the company-wide collective
bargaining agreements empowers the employer. Around 95% employees are under the
collective bargaining agreements, rules in the Labour Code in France and are supported by
rules in areas such as medical cover, paid leave, maternity leave and even working time.
Health and safety is also a prime factor in any company or factory and that is taken in to the
consideration in France. France also gives a legal length of the working week to be 35 Hrs in
all companies (Franceintro, 2019). The working hours can never exceed 10 hours in any case
in day. If the working hours are extended than everything mentioned in the rule book has to
be considered by the employer along with the incentives as per the company rules. According
to the ILO some 215 million children’s aged between 5-17 are in child labour. More than 60
% of the young population especially children work in agricultural sector in Asia, Latin
America and Africa. France is not into child labour and do not support child labour. The
country bans child labour especially in slavery. France has integrated regulatory provisions to
fight Child labour and have formed activities to combat it by the help of IMF and World
Bank (Childlabour, 2019).

Company’s Labour
Repetto follows a fair labour policies and has never been into any legal battle between
the union and the company. The company gives an equal opportunity to men and women in
its industry. The smile on each face who owns a Repetto is all because of the hard work done
by the labour and employees of the company. The company makes sure that the labour force
works with self-esteem with positive attitude.
Conclusion
The new information about the country and the company has put a positive impact on
me. I feel that the shoe that I use is worth my pride. The company follows all rules and
regulations which gives me the confidence to use its product more and more. I am really
obliged to do this assignment as I am able to understand the importance of Labor law and its
good impact of the working force. I am also able to understand the demography and economy
of France. The company Repetto is a nice working place as it follows all the rules and
regulations of labour law. The product that the company produces is world class and the
company is well known and admired thus I am proud to own a product of Repetto.
