Reading skills are an important skill that can be defined as the ability of an
individual to read and interpret text of an article or on a page (Chee, Yahaya and
Ibrahim, 2017). Having good reading skills enables individuals to absorb a written work
in a short duration of time. This report is a reflection on different topics that are related
to academics.
MAIN BODY
Reading Skills
Reading can be defined as the process involving decoding of symbols or text in
order to derive meaning. Reading with a purpose helps readers to focus their attention
and derive direct information. The main purpose of reading to help the readers connect
the ideas that are written on a page as well as understand the same (Piniel and Albert,
2018). There are various reasons as to why people read, like they read in order to
increase their vocabulary as well as knowledge regarding how to use new words
correctly and clearly articulate them. Different people can have different perspectives of
reading like it helps in expanding their worldview.
Writing Skills

These skills include the knowledge as well as abilities that are related to
expressing the ideas in a written form.
Learning Skills
The various tasks that are involved in the process of learning such as note
taking, reading, study skills etc. make up the learning skills.
Reflection
A reflection is a written account of a person's experience and their learning from
the same. It is generally written in first word by the person and Discroll's model is one of
the most commonly used models of reflective writing.

Referencing
Acknowledging the work of an author or a writer in the body of the work is
referred to as referencing. Harvard is a type of referencing method.
Presentation Skills
Presentation skills refer to the skills that are needed by an individual to deliver
presentations that are engaging as well as effective.

Plagiarism
It refers to a person representing the work including ideas, thoughts etc. of
another individual as their own (Rivers, 2018). It can be referred to as a literary theft in
academics.
Communication
Communication can be defined as the process of exchanging ideas and thoughts
between two people, the sender as well as the receiver.
Creativity
People are expected to be creative as it contributes to their overall developments
and they are able to attain their desired job in the future.

Integrity
It can be defined as the practice wherein a person is honest as well as consistent
about their work. They never compromise on the quality of their work.
Time Management Skills
Time management skills include prioritizing and organizing how to divide
available time in order to completed an assigned task.

Organizing Skills
Organizing skills are most important skills that allow an individual to stay focused
and organize their tasks in an effective manner.
CONCLUSION
From the above report, it can be concluded that reading skills are considered to
be an important employ ability skill and can help in improving the chances of an
individual of getting their desired job. Also, there are different styles of reading such as
intensive, extensive reading, skimming and scanning.
