The Purpose of the work:
In the recent years the demand for increasing environment friendly characteristic of business
firms has risen. Consumers governments and employees from the new generation are
demanding business firms to increase the green characteristic of the company. This is because
of the increased environmental awareness all over the glove. The primary problem associated
with fulfilling this demand is that shifting to more sustainable way of working requires large
amount of investment and is also very time consuming processes. This is because sustainable
energy sources and practices are expensive and changing the current organizational practices to
take more greener approach is a time consuming task. The aim of the work is to determine cost-
effective methods of increasing sustainability so that the demands of the consumers,
governments and employees while also completing responsibility towards shareholders by
maintaining high profitability. It is important for business firms to achieve this objective as
quickly as possible because sustainability gives business firms competitive advantage. This is
because it helps attract skilled employees to the company, attract environment friendly
consumers and satisfy the government by decreasing negative impact of the environment.
Improving sustainability is not a demand but a necessity for business firms as it is essential to
remain competitive in the current business environment.
Methods Used for the research:
The methods of research which are used for the idea to enhance sustainability are reviewing
academic journals which are related to the area of improving sustainability at the workplace and
conducting a survey of current employees and consumers. The review of academic journal is an
effective research methods it helps determine views of experts on this area. The usage of survey
is also another effective research method as it helps gain direct information from consumers and
employees regarding the specific area of the idea which is greener workplaces.

This report concludes there are several cost-effective methods which can be utilized by business
firms to enhance green nature in the workplace. One of the few cost-effective ways which is

As such the report recommends to reduce usage of paper and adopt digital record keeping
methods to lower harmful environmental impact. This recommendation reduces the
environmental dame of the company by a huge amount as paper leads to environmental damage
in various forms including deforestation. Another recommendation of this report is appointment
of sustainability representative in each department of the company so that employees are
encouraged to increase their sustainability.
