INTRODUCTION
The report is based on skills which is required to be successful at university and
importance in workplace. It also covers the ways through which student can improve the content
of their CV's.
Five skills requires to be successful at university and their importance in workplace
Skills is an integral part for students as it helps in achieving the career goals and make
student comfortable while working in corporate world (Torres and Jansen, 2016). There are
various skills which is required by students at university and play an important role in workplace.
Communication Skills:
Communication skill is one of the skill which is required by students in university and
workplace. Through communication skills, students can communicate and present their ideas to
other people in effective and efficient manner. In order to be successful at university, students
requires communication skills so that they can interact with their colleagues and faculties.
University also focus on improving the communication skills of individuals by enhancing their
ability to interact face to face with others (Ritter and at. al., 2018). Through good
communication, students can make understood their information more quickly and accurately. It
also helps in managing human resources and developing human relationships. The effective
communication skills helps in smoothing the relationships with others. Grades of students also
improve as communication skills helps in studying and revision. The importance of
communication skills in workplace is that students can interact with customers and make loyal
customers by their effective communication skills. For improving the communication skills, it is
important for individual to listen, read, discuss, know the audience and get feedback from others.
Time management:
Time management is another skill which is required by students in university and
workplace. Through time management skills, students can manage their time and accomplish
their work in effective and efficient manner (Holdsworth, Turner and Scott-Young, 2018). For
example, in university if student participate in extra curricular activities at university they have
to divide the time between multiple things. In workplace also time management plays an
important role as employers always value their staff who can accomplish the multiple targets at
same time. In order to improve the time management skills, it is necessary to prepare weekly

schedules which must include activities, study, time in class, meals and time with friends. Time
management helps in increasing the productivity of skills and also reduce the stress and prioritise
the time of individuals.
Critical thinking skills:
Critical thinking skills is also a skill which must be required by students at university and
workplace. Students must have an ability to think critically and out of box as it helps in solving
the problem in effective and efficient way. It is necessary to think out of box and focus on
approaching the problem from new angles. Employers also want candidate who have an ability
to think differently from other people in order to increase the growth and profitability of business
(Dibenedetto, 2015). The Corporate sector mainly demand candidate that take initiative to
produce their ideas and think outside the box to solve the problem in workplace. An individual
can make decision quickly by having critical thinking skills. They can also understand the
consequences of their action and focus on solving the issues in workplace. In workplace, it is
essential to express ideas, thoughts and beliefs in better aspects so that company can utilise the
ideas and implement in successful way.
Problem solving skills:
It is other skill which is required by students at university and workplace. Students must
have an ability to solve the problem and deal with it effective manner (Ryan, 2016). Through
having problem solving skills, students can solve the issues arises in university and implement
the solution as fast as possible. In workplace also problem solving skills plays an important role
as employers highly value the individuals who have an ability to deal the issues in effective way.
By having problem solving skills, individual can observe, act and judge the difficulties and take
appropriate solution for dealing with challenges.
Creativity and innovation skills:
It is another skill which is required by individual at university and workplace, The
student must have calibre to think creatively and innovatively as it helps in improving the career
goals. Employers generally look for the candidate who have an ability to think creatively and
innovatively so that they can contribute their best efforts in making business successful. If
students have creativity skills they can solve the problems quickly (Smith and Worsfold, 2015).
By developing new strategy in innovative way an individual can stay ahead of competition and
also help their company to gain competitive advantage.

Recommendation that could help students to improve the content of CV's
CV is defined as the document which is used by job applicants in order to showcase their
academic and professional accomplishment. CV helps the individual to summarise their skills
and capabilities in such a way that assistance could be given in respect of gaining desired jon
position. With the help of efficient CV this is easier for the individual to get prominent
professional career and to enlighten various opportunities as well. CV holds high degree of
importance in tenure of an individual which leads them to acquire severe benefits and to develop
their ways to lead future perspective (Anthony and Garner, 2016). A student is required to adopt
various strategies by which they can optimise content of their CV and to attain their desired goals
within personal and professional aspects. This is seen that when a student is having optimised
CV he or she will be able to allure their interviewer which leads them to gain good job position
for the long period of time. There are various recommendations that can be used by student in
order to improve content of their CV and some of these recommendations are highlighted below:
Appropriate objectives statement: Objective statement within CV is regarded as frontier of
whole the CV as this is primal statement which is read by interviewer at the time of taking
interviews. In order to improve the content of CV student is required to develop such objectives
statement which is able to summarise their career goals within one statement so that interviewer
can develop their quick opinion regarding interviewee. With the help of bullets skills can be
highlighted in very precise manner and this will catch attention of the reader.
Revision of font and format: Fonts and format play significant role in CV of an individual as
with the help of appropriate font and format attention can be grabbed of interviewer which leads
the candidate to show their positive side (Payton, 2021). The CV font should be professional so
that this will reflect nature of candidate and format used within CV reflects the level of creative
skills hold by candidate. When format and fonts used within CV are accurate this will be helpful
in making the same precise and in short manner interviewer may get an idea regarding accessed
capabilities of candidates.
Add summary of experiences: CV is associated with inclusion of various aspects in which
skills and capabilities of an individual is written in detailed manner. Sometimes when mass
interviews are organised then this is not possible for interviewer to read out each and every CV
in thorough manner. In this circumstances when summary is added by candidates in their CV this
will lead them to provide a significant statement to interviewer and to enhance opportunities of

selection. Selection is the process which is step one for recruitment process and with the help of
optimised CV opportunities of selection may be enhanced (Donia, O'Neill and Brutus, 2018). In
summary a conclusive statement is written which helps in summarising skills, experience and
capabilities of an individual in such a manner that attention of interviewer can be acquired and
content of CV can be improved as well.
Checking grammar and Shorten paragraphs: When a CV is lengthy this will enhance the
difficulty of reading and chances of selection can be minimised. In order to optimise the same
student is required to shorten inserted paragraphs within CV so that readability can be enhanced
and at the same time this will be pleased by eyes of interviewer. With the help of shortening of
paragraphs this will be helpful for to incorporate such keywords which will be helpful in
optimising content written within CV. At the same time checking of grammar is the another
priority which is required to exerted by student so that bad impression is not levied over
interviewer (Sutch, 2021).
CONCLUSION
From the above report this can be summarised that skills are holding higher degree of
importance to an individual. Skills helps the individual to develop their existence within
workplace due to which they can develop their future aspects and lead to get desired career as
well. This is analysed that with the help of skills student may get greater degree at university so
that they can sharpen their academic path and brighten their future as well. On the other hand
CV is regarded as one of the essential document which is holding higher degree of importance in
the life of students and helps them to get desired job position.
