INTRODUCTION
Business functions are the various activities which are carried out by a business such as
finance, marketing, production, operation and human resources, etc. (Färber and et.al., 2012). In
this report the chosen organization is Tesco plc and includes the demonstration of various
business function. The report also includes the various importances of together working of these
business functions in Tesco plc.
MAIN BODY
Tesco plc is a largest multinational grocery retailer 0organizationzation, it is the 3rd
largest organization in the world according to its gross revenue. It comprises various business
functions such as finance, marketing, operations/production and human resources (Scheer, 2012).
Finance functions in Tesco plc is part of organization which manages its money through
planning, organizing, auditing, controlling the companies financial transactions and activities.
Marketing function can be defined as the part of organization which includes the various
activities for advertising, promotion, distribution for sale, customer services and other marketing
relations (Song and et.al., 2012). Production/operation function includes the input and efforts
which transformed into outputs through a technological process. Human resources function is
related with the various activities of managing human resources in the organization. It includes
some specific activities as well such as recruiting, selecting, staffing etc. for smooth running of
business, as per the 2017 data the Tesco plc have 476,000 employees/human resources. These
business functions have vital role/importances in a organization when they work together. The
working of all the functions in combined way also beneficial for the employees as with the
organization because it make them perfect across their respective department. For the success of
Tesco plc it is also essential for all the department to work together. As the every department is a
base for another department. Such as the marketing department and production department is
interrelated with each other because what is to promote for sales is totally depend on the
information about production department and what is to produce is depend on marketing
research. Same as in human resources function is also needs information about the requirement
of employees which is derived from production department. The together working of these
departments in Tesco plc is very important because it is a very large supermarket chain if the
departments will not work jointly then organization can't face competition and not able to
