SECTION 1
INTRODUCTION
Crime has been determined as an unethical consideration in the society. It further denotes
the illegal commitment by an individual. The community is consists of large number of people
and the contribution of each person shapes the society. The rise in the crime affects the local
society in negative manner. As the crime involves those elements that are unacceptable for the
society as it reduces the effectiveness of the faith and belief in society. However, the local and
higher authority are consistently taking actions against crimes so, the number of crimes can be
reduced (Lindo and Padilla-Romo, 2018). There is need to shape the behaviour pattern of the
people who are following the path of crime. The crime often generates the fear in the public who
are living in the local society. Also, it affects the independence rate of the public.
The current study is based on the crime and its affects on local society. The report will
illustrate the background of the study and the two articles will be selected in order to analyse the
study. Also, the key findings of the selected articles will be shown that depicts the final result of
the study. Lastly, the comparison among the methodology of both the articles will be
highlighted.
MAIN BODY
Background of the study
Crime impacts the safety rate, social disorders, trust and faith in the community. Crime is
shaping the local society in that manner that only leads to the development of unethical
behaviour in the society. Thus, there is need to make a focus over this important topic as it
affects the large number of parameters in the community (Kubrin, Kim and Hipp, 2019). In local
society, the people who have a fear in relation of the crime does not involve in any physical
activities that performs at the local level. As a result, this impacts the physical health of the
people. Furthermore, it affects the mental health of the people as well. The fear in the mind of

The current study examines the major reason of the crime and its impacts over the local
community. The crime does not align with the people by their birth. There are certain factors that
force an individual to choose this path. The crime by an single individual affects the whole
society. Therefore, it important to know what are the major aspect of crimes that impacts the
local society. In order to protect the society it is important to know the impacts and solution of
the crimes (Koop-Monteiro, 2021). The current study is revolves around this only. Currently, it
has been considered as the important issues as it is affecting the local community. As a result,
this leads to shape the behaviour pattern in the society.
Article one “ Crime and community”
Wilkinson, K.P., 2019. Crime and community. In American rural communities (pp.
151-168). Routledge.
The chosen article has been first published by the Kenneth. P. Wilkinson. This article has
revealed that, crime and community both are inter-linked with each other. The environment of
community impacts the crime and same as, the crime impacts the environment of the community.
Crimes related to abuse, drugs, theft, murder and so on shapes the community in a high negative
manner. The crimes related to the drug abuse are impacting the lives of the youngsters in the
local community (Wilkinson, 2019). The article further shows that, the youngsters further
believes in the path of crime as there is no guidance to them. There is threat to those youngsters
as well who are free from such wrongdoings. As it has become the trend in the society and each
individual is attracting towards it.
The women often feels unsafe in the community due to the increasing rate of crimes. As
the cases related to the sexual harassment has been increasing on a high note. At workplace often
women has faced the crime. This leads to create the sense of fear in them. Furthermore, women
only feels safe at home and do not go for job only due to the increasing rate of crimes (Roth,
2018). The fear related to the theft and murder in the local society hindering the growth of the
local people. As there are many physical camp has been organised at local level but due to the
threat of crime many local people doest not attend such activities.
The mental health of the people in the community is highly affected by the crimes. For
example: An individual has experience the crime in drastic manner. Many times such events
change into the trauma. These traumas affect the mental health of an individual for the rest of
life. This is how crime affects the people in the local society and local society as well. The article

says that, people in the community performs the crimes and destroy the property of the society.
Also, the fear in the people vanishes the independence of the people in the community. A
community is said to be good when there is peace and harmony in the community. The crimes
affect the peace and harmony in the society. Furthermore, creates the unequal balance among the
morals and ethics in the community. Thus, it is important to analyse the factors that influence the
person in order to commit the crimes. There are certain factors such as, biological, social and
physical which leads to influence the person in terms of adopting the path of the crime. For some
people, poverty is the cause of crime and for some, lack of love from the family. There are
numerous factors that leads to crime in the society. The major theme of this article is that, the
crime shapes the local society by shaping the individuals in the community (Blevins, 2018). The
efforts of the local authority in stopping the crimes in the society plays the major role. Strict
actions by the government and Police leads to create the fear in the criminals before adopting the
path of crime. Thus, the government pattern of the local community has the power of protecting
the local society from the crimes.
Article two “Organized crimes in the United Kingdom ”
Campana, P. and Varese, F., 2018. Organized crime in the United Kingdom: Illegal
governance of markets and communities. The British Journal of Criminology, 58(6),
pp.1381-1400.
This article has been published by the Oxford university press on the behalf of centre for
crime & justice studies in 2018. The major theme of this article is based on the governance-type
crimes. This states that, there are many crimes that occurs because of the lack of step taken by
the higher authority. These crimes affect the local society. This article revolves around the
important steps that has to be taken by the government in order to protect the local society from
the impacts of crime. In rural areas, there are large number of people that are concerned with the
issues of poverty (Campana and Varese, 2018). They do not have enough amount to full-fill their
basic needs. The children of such people do not get the right of experiencing the effective
education. The major issue is that, many people are not aware about the policies introduced by
the government for them. Due to lack of knowledge they follow the path of the crime. The major
reason behind choosing the path of crime for such people are their needs. Thus, this refers as the
5

organized crimes. There is no desire of the people to adopt this path, but they do not have any
option in relation of this. Therefore, the crime has been committed by them.
Article further says that, the information in relation of the policies that has been taken by
the government for the betterment of the local people especially in rural areas must be
communicate with them. So, the level of crime can be maintained (Woldoff and Uggen, 2018).
The another important element that has been analysed in the article is that, crime is not the
internal desire of any person. In local community, there are some people that are highly educated
and there are some people who are not. For both type of people crime provides the impact in the
different manner. Educated people are aware of their rights when they experience the crime.
They know the actual path from where they can get the justice. While, the uneducated people are
not aware of such rights and many times no action has been taken by them.
This results in organizing the crimes for upcoming future. Therefore, it is important to
make people aware about the rights and responsibilities in relation of getting the justice. As this
leads to make society free from the impacts of crime. The government has made all policies that
are ensuring justice to the local people. Now, it is important to use those policies by the people in
order to shape the society free from crimes. The article determines that, how crimes are
organized in the society. The local society can be free from the impacts of the crime if the people
are aware about their right to get justice (Stenson, 2019). The government has the complete
power of shaping the local communities in effective manner by communicating the mandatory
policy to them. No-on desire to follow the path of crime there are many circumstances that force
people to adopt this part and the crimes has been organized.

Researcher analyse that qualitative research different methods develop better understanding with
the helpful to clarify effective information which is beneficial for gather information and new
