INTRODUCTION
Globalization has enhanced business aspects to a new spectrum of research and
development. Planning, analysis and investigation are few necessary requirements of the
business unit. In order to determine the changing market trends, consumers needs, legal impacts,
social issues of organizational growth aspects, research application and analysis plays a
significant role. It helps researchers in defining issues efficiently and evaluate the same in order
to attain the specified business results. A successful research analysis demands effective research
objectives, well defined research problems, structured and integrated methodology, extensive
data analysis and effective analysis and conclusions as well. The present study will critically
evaluate the research paper mentioned in the study and will undertake an in-depth analysis of
individual research sections. It will examine all research segments in order to identify the
strengths, weaknesses and limitations of the research findings. In-depth analysis of research tools
will be undertaken for the present study.
a) Critical appraisal of research objectives
Business ethics is one of the emerging and critical concept of the global economy. Ethical
practices in corporate world demands effective understanding of the subject and its impact on the
individual perception (Bhal and Dadhich, 2011). The concept of whistle blowing has been
recognised from the year 1960 and has continuously argued upon thereon. Different legal
procedures and policies has been developed to enhance and justify the concept yet there are
significant challenges and social pressures associated with the same. Increasing work complexity
and fierce market competition has created a social impact on the business world. The concept is
social and widely subjective. Hence, different debates and researches has been carried out in
order to analyse a justified impact and analysis. The present research paper discusses the similar
issues and covers wide dimensions associated with the subject.
The research paper written by Chen C and Lai C (2014), focuses on examining the
concept of whistle blowing in he business units and challenges and issues associated with the
same. The research topic for the study is “ To blow or not to blow the whistle: the effects of
potential harm, social pressure and organizational commitment on whistle blowing intension and
behaviour”. The topic of the research is wide and well extensive. In order to analyse the social
impact researcher has undertaken a rational approach for conducting research and attaining

results for the study. The study links theoretical framework with research problems for attaining
effective and well investigated results.
The introductory section of the study provides a detailed and reflective analysis of the
current business scenario and concept of whistle blowing. It examines the significance of the
concept with different case analysis which reveals a positive emphasis of the study and
determine valid research results for the same. This section describes literatures associated with
the study and critically review the same in order to attain valid and corrective research results. It
discusses the factors affecting individual decision making process for whistle blowing and
ethical concepts (Hunton and Rose, 2011). The research framework develops an effective and
well developed understanding about all the related issues with individual behaviours measures
and organizational contribution for the same. The study however has not undertaken the legal
and judiciary aspects with the associated concept. Moreover, the literature gap has been analysed
on the basis of social perspective which reflects substantive inclination towards problems and
challenges associated with it.
The researcher has developed hypothesis for attaining research results in an effective
manner. However, the major drawback of the present study is that no specific objectives have
been developed for analysing and attaining the research results. Well developed hypothesis has
been developed by the rehearser which has effectively managed and maintained the research
results for the present study. The key issue of the research is to analyse effect of whistle blowing
behaviour of an individual (Depoorter and De Mot, 2006). The researcher has developed 6
hypotheses the present study. It has been created to address every aspects of research problem to
attain appropriate findings. The author undertook an effective and well developed approach to
cover every behavioural and social impact of or the study. Research structured analysed the
elements being researched in the study.
A comparative analysis of the study with research paper given by Pierson, Forcht and
Bauman revealed that the application of the concept in research study is a complicated task. This
research paper analysed the ethical code of conduct and legal aspects of the concepts as well.
The stated paper analysed the issues which caused the ethical dilemma for the employees and
individuals. Another research reflects that ethical employee behaviour is important and
significant for the business as it helps in analysing the ethical gaps in the business and develop
effective measures to overcome the same. However critical review regarding the significance of

legal aspect in social context may be questionable for the present study. Rothwell and Baldwin
(2007) stated in the research that the implication of judiciary support and protection plays a
significant role in determining influencing employees and individuals to raise voice against
wrongful business practices. This has developed an effective understanding for the society as
whole. Research title whistle blowing and whistle blower protection in the South African public
sector focuses on analysing number of strategies and measures that the business unit has adopted
in order to protect and develop an effective impact on the sales and growth strategy for the
business.
Hence, the overall analysis of introduction, objectives and research objectives for the
study reflects that author has undertaken a well developed and structured means of conducting
the study. The literature section of the study developed a clear and in-depth analysis of different
aspect of social behaviour and decision making process of the individual. But it lacks significant
legal aspect for the study which contributes significantly in analysing social behaviour for the
people. In addition to this author has not developed clear research objectives which may result
and in misleading results and analysis. Well developed framework of hypotheses has helped in
attaining effective research results and results.
b) Critical analysis of research methodology
Research methodology is one of the most crucial and significant part of the study. It helps
in developing a well structured means of research analysis for the stated topic. Rothwell and
Baldwin (2007)defined methodology as backbone of the study. It analyses research problem and
develop research design in a structured and effective manner to minimize literature gap and
attain appropriate and reliable findings. The present analysis of the study focuses on analysing an
in-depth and clear analysis of research topic related to social and behavioural aspects of
individuals with regards to ethical business practice (Somers and Casal, 2011). Different and
well planned measures has been implemented in the study to attain effective ad appropriate
results for the study. It helps the researcher in analysing and structuring the issue in a defined and
integrated manner.
For the present study research methodology has been defined in an effective manner b the
researcher. Author has effectively defined research problems and hypothesis for the research.
Every hypothesis is evaluated properly and proper means of testing has been applied for the
same. This has helped the author in developing a broad analysis of the study. Author included

effectively analysed the needs and demand for the research through research questions and
problem analysis. In addition to this well defined methodology has created an effective and
valuable impact on research results for research findings.
In the stated research the methodology section of the study developed effective and
favourable research results. The research focused on analysing the research problems and
questions in a well defined manner. In order to effectively analyse the social behaviour of
individual proper evolution of research methods and data has been used. The author mentioned
that for data collection both snow ball and random sampling measures will be implemented.
These will define the secondary measures of data collection and to collect the primary research
results for the study, method of consumer survey and questionnaire will be used. The defined
measures are effective and well developed to attain effective research results (Varelius, 2009).
Moreover, it has helped the in creating a defined manner to carry out with the present research.
The sample size for the present research was large and distinct Total 533 participants
were selected by the author from different industries in order to evaluate the social perception
regarding business ethics and ethical code of conduct as well. Lottery method of sample
selection was used by the researcher which enhanced reliability and appropriateness of the
results. In addition to this diverse segment for the study helped the author in analysing well
developed means of seeking research results and impact. The ratio sample selection is properly
mentioned and stated in the research. The method of data collection and analysis was effectively
measures and mentioned by the author for the present analysis.
Questionnaire for the study is well structured and has used and well defined means of
data collection and analysis for the study. This has helped in developing a wide and valuable
impact on business growth and analysis. Survey method using questionnaire tool was effective
for the study as it focused on analysing the individual perception of the people. Moreover, the
analysis of the report also reflected varied views collected by the questionnaire measures helped
in analysing the key factors affecting the issue, use of Likert scaling method helped author in
developing quantitative research results which are easy to analysed and develop a clear and
understandable result for the study.
However the methodology section of he study precisely mentioned the information about
the data collection, sampling and survey method (Sykes, Fletcher and Schneider, 2015). Author
did not use Research onion approach fr the study which helped in defining every crucial

component of the study. Different researches has been analysed and evaluated to attain a broad
understanding for the same. The present analysis lacked information regarding methodology
components such as approach, technique, design and time frame. This may result in attaining
misleading unstructured research results. In addition to this the presentation of the measures is
also refined by the same. Implementation of research onion tool could strengthen research
findings and develop a clear and effective analysis of the research results. In addition to this the
sample size of the study was and very vast and diverse. It may have demanded high resource
investment such as cost, time and labour as well. Hence in order to attain the research aim which
is to “ To blow or not to blow the whistle: the effects of potential harm, social pressure and
organizational commitment on whistle blowing intension and behaviour”, it can be analysed the
researcher effectively mentioned the crucial and signifiant research information however
information regarding some important research elements such as research approach, research
choices, techniques, methods and time frame was missing for the study which reflects that the
structure of the study was not standardised and well reviewed. On the basis of the above method
clear analysis and findings has been attained.
The author used the mixed method to attain proper research results. Qualitative measure
helped the researcher in attaining effective research results regarding employee behaviour and
analysis. In addition to this, research used statistics and graphs in order to reveal research
findings this helped in creating an effective and well defined means of understanding for the
research.
c) Critical evaluation of research conclusion
According to Chen and Lai (2014) conclusion of the research is an effective means of
result which are effective and well defined for the study. The research title “ To blow or not to
blow the whistle: the effects of potential harm, social pressure and organizational commitment
on whistle blowing intension and behaviour” focused on analysing social and behavioural
aspects of the research. This section of the study developed a clear and effective undertaking
about overall research findings. Author analysed every aspect and factor of the study to attain
understandable research results. The conclusion of the study evaluated that the concept of
whistle blowing in considered as crucial and very sensitive by the employees as a whole.
It covered every aspect of research structure and concluded significant relations of the
same with research findings and literature review. Conclusion was used as an integrated and well

defined means of presenting the overall research findings relating it with the objectives.
McBurney and White (2009) stated in the research that conclusion of the research paper helped
in analysing the research gap and fill it through developing a proper understanding between
literature part and findings as well. The author of the paper analysed every discussed segment of
the hypothesis and effectively evaluated every aspect to attain reliable result.
The comparative analysis of research results of the present study provided similar results
to the studies developed of similar topic (Mitchell and Jolley, 2012). Author clearly defined that
sensitivity to ethical dilemmas has impacted the moral integrity in the business units widely
which has resulted in attaining low and ineffective cases for the same. Author in this section
included different views and studies which helped in developed an effective and defined analysis
of the section. Author defined every research finding and justified the same with relevance to
present market situations. This helped in developing effective and reliable research results for the
study.
The further discussion of the topic in the section helps in creating an effective and well
developed a clear understanding about the same. The researcher has effectively measures and
that personal factors of the individuals influence their decision making process for taking
corrective actions against whistle blowing or not. This section also included a wide range of
recommendations for developing an effective impact on individual behaviour. The analysis of
research finding has been efficiently done in the study. Every aspect of the research has been
effectively justified and analysed by the researcher. It is valuable because findings of this paper
contributes to the wider global research analysis. It will help research scholars and academic
practitioner to enhance their knowledge and understanding about the subject. The whole study
was free from any personal biases and influence from others (Jackson, 2010). Along with this,
findings of the current investigation is appropriate stated which can be applied for social
behaviour as well. The present research paper reveals a strong finding on empherical study and
develops an in depth understating about the same. Thus, it can be clearly said that the conclusion
of the present research is well aligned with the overall findings of the study and developed
effective recommendation for the same. The critical appraisal of the study can be evaluated by
saying the overall research study has been developed in a well structured manned which has
helped in developing effective understanding about research topic and analysis as well.

d) Critical evaluation of limitations of the research
The research limitations is the section which analysis the major research flaws and
evaluates the same in order to analyse strength and weakness of the study. The present topic of
the research was well defined and efficiently analysed by the research however conducting a
research is a challenging task and involves wide measures of structural and social challenges.
These may impact research findings and analysis for the study which may be in effective and
restrict the appropriateness and validity of the research.
The author analysed variety of research limitation for the present study. It helped in
analysing research gaps in the analysis (Cohen, Manion and Morrison, 2007). The data of the
study was wide and diverse this demanded effective and well developed integration of analysis
and study as well. In addition to this collecting and analysing the data from large sample size is a
challenging and ineffective task. The research analysis for the study was effective and efficient.
However, data collection may incur errors of empherical changes. This may result in developing
some uncontrollable impact and variations in the findings.
Limitations regarding time and cost has not been mentioned by the researcher but it has
an effective ans ell developed impact on the research study. It creates an effective ans well
defined means of defining research results and attaining required data. However, the factors
regarding limitations of time has created challenge for selection of choices for data analysis and
investigation. It has also been analysed that the impact of situations on social behaviour is high
and noticeable or the business. This has created an effective impact on the business results. The
author analysed that the social perception of the individuals may vary with channels of data
collection (Neate, 2014). This may also develop a wide impact on making research choices and
analysis for the study. The overall research result are based on data collected thus this may have
a direct impact of appropriateness of the results attained for the analysis. Critical appraisal tool
has reflected that author has used appropriate methods for getting valid findings which are
valuable for local community but there are the chances of some unavoidable errors which may
create a direct impact on the findings of the research for the current topic.
Hence, on the basis of the given research it can be said that the present study has been
conducted in a defined manner and effective analysis of research limitation has helped the
author in evaluating possibility of errors in the study. In addition to this the implications of the

same has been effectively discussed in the paper which has helped the learners and researchers in
considering those for further analysis.
CONCLUSION
The critical analysis of the above paper has helped the researcher in creating wide and
validated impact on understanding and analysing research issues. The analysis of research paper
regarding which focused on analysing social behaviour of the study and analysis was undertaken
for the study (P&C News, 2011). Evaluating every aspect of the research study helped in
analysing that the paper followed an effective and appropriate approach for the study. Author
undertook effective measures and developed in-depth understanding about the topic which may
be further utilised for academic and corporate understanding of the research analysis.
