INTRODUCTION
The healthcare system in Australia used to deliver a mixed system which are private
providers and universal healthcare. The majority of healthcare in Australia is furnished by public
organisation and the remaining is provided by private industry. This present report will discuss
the healthcare system of Australia.
MAIN BODY
Framework of Australian Health System
According to Baum, (2016) The population living in Australia enjoys a good health
compare to other countries. The life expectancy is increasing in Australia and the incidence of
infectious disease is minimizing which is a good report of the country. In 2014-15, the national
expenditure of Australia on health was estimated more than $147 billion and around 10% of
GDP. This cost is increasing day by day in order to improve the health of people. It is implied
that strategies of research generate economic advantages by raising the efficiency of healthcare
system of Australia.
Theoretical underpinning
Jorm, (2015) said that, mental disorder is the burden of disease of Australia which is around 16%
which is mainly caused by dementia and loss of hearing. The chronic disease are also the one of
the heavy burden of disease on Australia. In 2015, cardiovascular disease measured for 25% of

As per the Bertrand & Hughes, (2017) diabetes is also one the major concern of Australian

and many other chronicle disease. Government is taking action in order to reduce the burden of
disease, Government first concent is that people are consuming contaminated food which is very
serious issues of causing threat of spreading of all these diseases. They have started a scheme
which is front of pack food labelling. It is the duty of consumers that they should not buy those
products which are not packed and open. As per the Australian Law its is mandatory for the
manufacturers to disclose the ingredients list as well as all the information panel on food

packages. This law was formulated to stop the increment of the diseases which are spreading
very fast and spoiling the health system of Australia. In addition to this, another author claimed
that Duckett & Willcox, (2015) government of Australia is also giving advertisement on local
media to stop the consumption of junk food. This initiates are taken to stop the threat of
increasing the patients suffering from obesity and Food poisoning. It is also essential that a
person cannot remain healthy if they didn't aware. According to the author, the another burden
which is also spoiling the health system of Australia is smoking and alcohol consumption. This is
also one of the biggest risk factor in many diseases which included all the disease of circulatory
system, respiratory system and cancer. The giant contributor in the burden of disease of Australia
is Tobacco. Male smoking habits are falling since 1970 whereas the number of female smokers is
increasing with the increasing rate. Brownson, (2017) said that the another disease which is
spoiling the health system of Australia since recent years is blood borne diseases is increasing.
This is also one of the biggest concern of Australia. Hepatitis B infectious falling but hepatitis C
is increasing. The incidence of sexually transmitted disease are also rising with the highest rate.
Evaluation of the framework
Government are organising programmes and campaigns in the communities for giving
them sexual education. According to Australian Institute of Health and Welfare 2010- the people
of low family income group is generally connected with the risk factors which are effecting
health inequities are complex. Australian government is struggling in order to make efficient
balance in healthcare system of country. In addition to this, Government is taking action in order
to reduce the burden of disease, Government first concent is that people are consuming
contaminated food which is very serious issues of causing threat of spreading of all these
diseases.
CONCLUSION
The above essay concluded that health status is the first impression and the last
impression of country. Healthcare system in Australia used to deliver a mixed system which are
